  1. So just how are you supposed to get a team ace when you live 1200kms away ? My definition if being tapped up is when one club has nurtured a rider only for another to come along and take advantage. In Adams case he'd spent thousands of euros and a lot if the summer travelling to tracks to show what he could do. When you're a free agent I can't see how clubs coming to you to offer team places can be counted as tapping up
  2. Adam wasn't at all "tapped". He had periods in the UK, all of which involved 2500km round trips from home and tried to squeeze in as many second halves as possible. Lots of offers were made and he chose the IOW because he liked the set up and the people. He's only 16 and will be living away from home which is a big gamble, but the island is close to where he's being based and falls in nicely within the area of his biggest help/mentor Matt Read. It certainly wasn't money driven as he was offered more to ride elsewhere. More a question of trying to get the right help in terms of starting out and getting the right people to start a career. It's a big gamble for one so young being so far away from home !
  3. If anyone is interested in helping/sponsoring Adam Ellis for his 2013 season, he'll be riding for the Isle of Wight on the national league, Ipswich in the premier league plus the occasional skid with lakeside hammers. All help no matter how small is appreciated to help him progress up the speedway ladder. Send propositions to ... ellisjon@hotmail.com Or ellis33@live.fr Thank you
  4. Someone posted earlier that Adam Ellis has big sponsorship for next year. Being involved with trying to secure it for him can you let me know where it is cos boy would it be welcome !
  5. Jeeeez. Get a life, talk about over reacting. It's just a thread asking about Havvy.
  6. How long do you think Ellis has been on a bike ? his first meeting was in July, (which he won).
  7. OK, who's in / out, who would you like to see in next years squad ?
  8. Ellis is a lakeside asset. With lakeside being a Friday club I can't see this happening
  9. Eeeeee and my great great great grandad used to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. He may be the big chie, f but of what young lady ?? An ever diminishing object.
  10. Bearing in mind Boris Johnson wants to build an airport in the middle of the Thames estuary and Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok (honestly it's not a lap dancing thing) airport was built with land reclamation in the middle of the sea. I shouldn't think that a bit of flooding is a problem for civil engineers to overcome?
  11. 16 years old, first competitive speedway meeting ever was in July and has now scored points in national, premier and elite leagues. Is this a record ?
  12. Hmmmmm born in south west France to two parents originally from dagenham. English I think ? Hmmmmm born in south west France to two parents originally from dagenham. English I think ?
  13. It was Adam's father who originally contacted Phil Morris to be included in the British youth championship. Each round involved a nigh on 3,000 km round trip and a ferry. He merits the attention he's getting Its down to riders as well as clubs to make things happen
  14. Well if you want to see him he's guesting for Ipswich at Somerset on Friday. Phil Morris has been a family friend for nearly 20 years and paid money out of his own pocket to have adam ride at his meeting last year. Neil Vatcher has advised adam independently and actually told him to hold back on signing for any clubs until he was sure of what he wanted. It's funny that other promoters only expressed an interest after Adams decision was made His family had already spent thousands going backwards and forwards doing second halves yet no other clubs were willing to even visit the tracks he was riding at to check him out.
  15. There's also been enquiries to French based Adam Ellis.
  16. Well two days to go and the pre meeting publicity is incredible ............ not !
  17. what's the weather forecast for the Island this week ?
  18. The problem for Adam just to get to a meeting involves a 1200km drive and a cross channel ferry. He relies on help from sidecar driver Tony Cook and ex islander ride Matt Read for help with accommodation driving etc. The meetings so far that he's done have been to gain experience and get himself known on the uk scene, after last weeks meeting had returned to Bordeaux at 7am the following day and will be leaving on Sunday to come back to the uk for the weeks meetings before returning to France for an international grass track the following week. September looks quite busy too with the last round of the U16 british championship, two meetings in France , the world 250cc grasstrack final in Germany, kings of speed grasstrack in Tonbridge and he's been invited to the U19 British speedway final in Sheffield ! I know Adam and his family, he has a talent for sure, he's even organising to finish his education by correspondence to fulfill his dream of riding professionally , if he can get a package for sponsorship/support organised, you'll be seeing a hell of a lot more of him next year
