  1. I just saw on twitter a 44 point limit, 2 brits per team and no black and white helmet tactical ride. I got all excited then realised it was someone's wish list.
  2. IMO all speedway riders should aspire to be professional . If you want to be an amateur, that's what grasstrack is for .
  3. I think we all knew the outcome. Why didn't they just wait ?
  4. After the cost of shortening and re-laying the track you'd still have to buy an air fence so I doubt that there would be any saving.
  5. You can get sky in France ( allegedly) Or you can go to any expat bar and ask them to show it.
  6. Just adding potentially more riders into the mix. No need to get the disapproving smileys out
  7. I wasn't talking about Brits going abroad more of how to get the sponsorship that is around channeled to young British riders as opposed to foreigners
  8. As has been pointed out on numerous threads a lot of money get thrown at foreign journeymen / flights etc. what can be done to channel some of this assistance to young riders with potential. We moan about a lack of Brits in the GP's etc but there seems no organised way of getting the money / support to the riders considered to be our future hopes. As a father of a young rider I know only too well the amount of money needed to keep top quality equipment competetive and the cost of travelling all over the country / Europe etc. how can we let the potential sponsors know that there's a whole load of talented young British riders who, given the support can be just as good as the foreigners and even go on to copy the achievements of Tai ?
  9. If the islanders don't sort their air fence out there could be a whole team looking for new rides.
  10. Well something would need to be sorted quite quickly so as to avoid leaving their riders in limbo and maybe missing out on other team places
  11. i've raced the longtrack at Plattling in Germany a few times, 5 corners !!! quite tiring to say the least
  12. Have we seen the last of the wightlink islanders ? The air fence issue may be the death knell for the club. What will happen to the riders either way, what do the fans want to see next year ?
  13. If the rumours that the IOW wont be riding next year due to the sir fence issue, what clubs would be interested in their riders for 2014 ?
  14. Cue another 14 pages of " back in the day" without answering the original question
  15. Poole. 2014 premier league champions !! It could happen.
  16. So far we've had ..... Associated with people of low intelligence.. Reminds people of hells angels .... Past world champions didn't have tats ... Puts off older people .... Street organ grinder .. ( it's not 1930 !!!) And a whole lot more of drivel that just reinforces why our sport is going nowhere publicity wise. My son is 17 and just starting his speedway career and ..... He's just had his first tattoo. Most of the riders he rides against have tattoos, quite a few have piercings. It's fashion. If they regret it in later life that's their problem but for gods sake This has now gone on for 15 pages and there seems to be some people who think we're still in 1930.
  17. It's post conviction. She Is now over 16. Her name has been splashed all over the Sun in her "exclusive story". No legal problems with naming her at all now do no need to get all outraged.
  18. But how many times did you crash that Honda ? Can you call on many like minded friends ( who's job it was to ride Hondas ) to give you their opinions in the same type of crash ? We're there any witnesses to this honda crash who can back up your opinion of the story ? ( maybe one of them could be an official who's seen many honda crashes ) How many more pages are you gonna bang on about " in depth well researched studies " in what is to all extent a ten pound sport and make yourself look foolish rather than accept the opinion of professional racers who's opinions and experiences are about as close as you're gonna get to the study you so desperately want ? Just go to the pits at any meeting and ask the riders if they think it's a good thing or not. Or maybe pay to have the study done yourself as you're so desperate to see one in print
  19. Jeeez. This topic has had more lines on this forum than any news company could be bothered with. Even the tabloids with their love of seeing celebreties and sports stars get their comeuppance can't be bothered with the case. Just goes to show how far our beloved sport has fallen. Is it really THAT interesting a thread to warrant all these pseudo leal eagles coming on here to give us their learned opinions ? On a related note ( and just as boring I suppose ) the teacher who ran off with the girl we couldn't name ( <removed - YOU might be willing to get charged over a stupid ruling in UK law but WE wont on your behalf>) was caught in my pub in Bordeaux. It was my daughter who recognised him and set up the sting. Funny old world eh ?
  20. It's the viscious circle for Adam. To up your average you need good equipment. This years equipment was secondhand at the start of the year, there's been quite a few thousand spent keeping the van on the road Ok now he has some experience of British speedway it's the search for sponsors before next season and they're not exactly falling from the trees. I know some people expressed disappointment after the pre season hype, but he is still only 17 and every track he visited this year ( with the exception of two) was for the first time. Broken bones need to heal and the loooong search for sponsorship starts. ( even if the format for next years leagues isn't yet decided)
  21. Elephantman. Just a quick question. Have you ever raced speedway ?
  22. That would be a shame as no one stops riding unless they really have to, just look at Ben's comebacks this year after some horrendous crashes. I know that Adam actually put off having his wrist plastered for several days and has since looked into removing it after a week to try out and see if he can hold on, these guys just don't want to let the team down so for the fans not to show up would be a bit demoralising for the riders that are able to be there .
