  1. If the new jawa "standard" bike is the saviour of the sport. What do the young riders who've recently come into the speedway do with the bikes / engines they have now ? They'd have to sell them on, ( who's going to buy them if a new standard is introduced ?) making a hell of a lot of equipment obsolete overnight. I can't see that helping young riders out
  2. I can only speak from a personal point of view. We have the van ( without the name in the side ) and take up as many foreign rides as possible. All these rides cost money to do and they're valuable experience, but when you rock up and see the equipment / backing that some if the foreign boys have it's heartbreaking. We do what we can with what we've got but you automatically are on the back foot from the off. I always say to people instead of criticizing, go up and offer a tenner to a rider. That's a third of a way to a tyre and every little helps. There's no major effort to attract a major big name sponsor to British speedway and until that happens we'll always he one step behind foreign riders.
  3. That costs money and there isn't any to help the young Brits
  4. The Houses of Parliament and the HMS victory pubs in Bordeaux show it
  5. Does anyone know of a link to follow today's meeting in Germany ? Been searching since yesterday but with no luck so far.
  6. If anyone believes that riders are only getting £10 a point then they're seriously deluded.
  7. A lot of clubs stipulate that you must have 2 bikes in their contracts, this in effect means you have to have at least 3 chassis to cover for one bring list in an accident. The days of riding with one bike are long gone.
  8. How can anyone believe the evidence of what you think you saw 4 years ago when it's peppered with " I believe" , "if my memory serves" and " I think it was him" ?? Yeah, that's a reliable account of what happened.
  9. In France you can't ride a 500 at 14. Ok there isn't a league system over here but they feel at 14 they're not ready or have the strength and endurance to control it.
  10. Why not. I'm a speedway fan. I know why you think I shouldn't but the rider you are alluding to was offered world championship rounds riding for another country but chose to move 1,000 miles to test himself in the uk. Also he jumped at the chance of representing team GB and said so in the press. So not the same really. My post was from a fans point if view. Nothing more.
  11. Maybe he and his entourage aren't as sure of his talent as they like to portray . Going the German route could be seen by some as an easier route into the world championships. Either way he's not doing himself any favors considering he's hardly ridden over here except for eleventy billion laps of his home track. As long as you have the real talent to back up the mouth, you can sometimes get away with appearing a bit of a cock. If not I'm afraid you just come across as a twunt. For the poster who pointed out that he was just a schoolboy. Look at the other young British riders who don't have to resort to mouthing off.
  12. Brilliant team performance. It bodes well for the season and the atmosphere in the pits is buzzing. Shame it was sooooooo cold.
  13. Martin helps lots of riders in some way or another. A generous guy who's putting something back into the sport.
  14. To the poster who said that the reduced noise on the F1 spoiled their enjoyment ... Unless you were actually at the event just turn your tv up. To the poster who said that the reduced noise on the F1 spoiled their enjoyment ... Unless you were actually at the event just turn your tv up.
  15. Who's going to be the first track to use transponders on the bikes connected to a big screen. Morizes club in south west France uses them. They're just attached to the bikes with two cable ties. A guy with a stopwatch is such an unreliable and outdated way of doing things.
  16. Adam Ellis isn't on that list as he has a place at Ipswich , although I really think another year riding at nl level would have been good as it's still only his second year riding speedway.
