Kings Lynn Vs Wolves ( Double Header) 23.08,17
Jonny the spud replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Make sure you get down to near Bordeaux, it's the place to be if you want to see some racing. -
At the end of last season there were calls to keep Adam Ellis and Kyle Newman, the two young riders who dragged Poole into the playoffs and were looked upon as a good base for building a young team. With Kurtz and the Younger Holder it was considered by many fans to be a great start in team building. Can't help but have a wry smile here.

Having had personal experience of CL's "management" style. (ie telling you one thing at 10.30 at night, then dropping you in the $hit 12 hours later) Nothing surprises me. Should be interesting in the pits at Foxhall.

They go off song quickly, anyone who's got them running good isn't sharing info, i know of a few riders who've bought them and sold them on as they're a bugger to set up. I've also seen my first tuned one with different cams and a higher revving ignition. same old same old

I've had that happen quite a few times with Brits on stag weekends in one of my pubs -
You don't have to do anything wrong to be dropped by Poole, just being a young English rider and giving your all for the club seems to be reason enough.

Speedway World Cup 2017
Jonny the spud replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
"aren't we told" WTF does that mean ? by all means expose riders to big pressure meetings, but when you're competing against bottomless budgets i don't care how good you are it's not gonna happen . GTR's ? ... maybe they'll work in a few years but not yet. Adam wanted to ride in the euro championships but the BSPA wouldn't allow it ! Adam also spends a fortune riding in the Polish 2nd division, German league , the fledgling French league and any individual meetings he can get . unwilling ?? have a word with yourself ! -

When you see on twitter Polish riders testing 5 or 6 brand new GM's mid season on well prepared tracks whenever they want, THAT'S the difference. Instead of the BSPA wasting money on GTR's, ( I just bloody wasted money on one), use some of the SKY money to pick our brightest young prospects, buy them two well sorted GM's each and send them on a camp to Poland for a fortnight. with decent technical support (yes even Tai if he's willing). That will bring better results than the endless year after year hand wringing. It's called investing in the future, oh and try letting them ride in Euro championships as well !! -
Speedway World Cup 2017
Jonny the spud replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
last years European U21 final was in France, 3 miles from where Adam was born, he knew the track, he knew the crowd, he even knew most of the track staff by name ! It would have been great experience of European big meetings for any young Brits who managed to qualify. Matt Ford even approached the BSPA to see if we could enter riders. All requests were turned down and no one took part, are the deliberately trying to deny our youngsters opportunities to ride abroad ? -
saw my first tuned one last night , it's been fettled and had different camshafts, and so it continues .............

Adam for team GB... Individual U21's, missed out of qualifying by 1 point, European pairs, got team GB into the final with a 6 ride 18 point maximum U21 SWC, equal top scored with Lambert (12 points) to help team GB reach it's first final in 10 years 2nd in the british U21 final. Yes his season in the UK hasn't been brilliant but what more would he have do do to be picked? If Lambert is out of this weekend would you still think one of your suggestions would be a better bet ? -
Adam fastest time of the night too.

Robins Vs Rye House
Jonny the spud replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Diving in football, dodgy betting on horse racing, doping in cycling, team orders in F1, cricket matches thrown in far eastern betting scams, "bloodgate" in rugby ......... i'm sure most journalists steer clear of speedway is because it's run by incompetents who think its still 1956 and act accordingly. -
Adam scored 4+1 in a tough meeting in Poland yesterday and 13 in a German league meeting this afternoon.

I remember driving 1200 kms to the UK 5 years ago to do a round of the British youth championship, we'd try to fit in a couple of second half meetings while in the uk. It wasn't unusual to drive to the meeting, set up, wait for the main event to happen then get told there wasn't time to run ours as the main event had overrun. Frustrating wasn't the word for it !

He's almost Trump like in his paranoia.

My son missed qualifying for the U21's (individual) by 1 point a few weeks ago. He was leading his first heat and Lambert sneaked up the inside to push him to 2nd, he was at Belle Vue the previous night and is lucky enough to have two bikes and a van on the continent. He said afterwards if he'd have done practice he'd have known the track/racing lines better. At the European pairs he did the full practice and scored a 6 ride maximum. It doesn't always work like that but it certainly helps. To think that sometimes people moan that the young Brits aren't getting enough experience of big meetings abroad yet moan when they have the opportunity , it's a no win situation.

18 point full max, the track was as slick as a slick thing
