Swindon V Wolves 14th April
remembertheracers replied to crazysue's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Rumblings that Big Ronnie Russell and Alan Rossiter dont get on heard tonight. Friction in the camp? Kyle Howarth supported the views on the track surface being 'difficult' tonight. Well done Wolves - for Robins Sedgeman, Tungate and especially Morris need to shape up and want to be in that first turn with the mix. Crowd looked thin. Ex Racer Matej Zagar and Belle Vue next week, it wont get easier! -
Vince Mapley Memorial @ Isle Of Wight 7th April

Hope there was a good crowd to welcome speedway back to the island? -
Even if a Hancock, Sayfutdinov or Pedersen could be drafted in this team is still awful. I hope we dont lose Leicester as a result.

Less than 100 with the dynamo L Rodgers in charge - never! -
Lakeside V Leicester 1st April

Martin Yeates was at Adam Ellis' side at Blunsdon. Vast experience as a rider, a good team manager and briefly promoter. He'd be likely to be a good mentor. -

Only guest Adam Ellis saved Bees from a real thrashing at Swindon last night but even so this is a shock. Something seems horribly wrong at Brandon... -

Plymouth Remain Open!
remembertheracers replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Terribly sad news, enjoyed my two visits to Plymouth in better times. I hope someone can take it on but very much doubt that it will happen. Says it all that a decent field only attracted 450 people to the opening meeting in such a big city. This adds to the GP disasters in Warsaw, Riga, Gothenburg and Gelsenkirchen and of course the tragedy of the National Stadium opening. -
I am afraid you are totally correct Steve, the sport has been on self destruct for years. I still love it, but at times it embarrasses me. I tried to introduce a newcomer at Swindon in 2014. Despite being in the Legends Lounge he was bored to tears, could not fathom the double point joker and kept asking why the delay before the next race. I no longer intend to take anyone new as he was right.

Perfectly put GB. Speedway can still be a tremendous sport but it is run so badly at almost all levels. It is interesting to compare the promotional efforts of your ice hockey Wildcats and the speedway, the Wildcats seem so on the ball. A shame then my local team is Bracknell Seriously hope the Robins get a grip and start promoting the sport far more. This confusion over March 18 makes them look incompetent and it is a bad build up to a season where the EL may struggle to hold on to even 8 teams.

I believe the GRA folded before, back in the 70's and they have huge debts to Irish banks.

What a load of sad bickering. Dakota North advanced his career at Swindon in 2014 and at Poole last year. It wont be helped by staying at home, but if his father (who I presume is Rod North) is in a bad way he is left with a very difficult choice and deserves support. I just hope Rosco doesn't go for Kenneth Bjerre even though there is a slight chance he might regain some battling instinct and be a good signing - and presumably spend a lot of money on someone who hasn't produced in a while.

I used to think that too but then a Swindon fan in the bar said at least you have several hundred seats under cover. Apart from a few there is no real seating at (Sh)Abbey Stadium Mr C. :-) No blame for Rosco or El Tel, it is CO and the developers who stand to make a fortune if there is no new stadium and the old one closes Oxford style as uneconomic or no longer viable...

Frankly this thread shows how the quality of the Elite League has plunged.

Notoriously Dirty Riders
remembertheracers replied to Pinny's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes Compton certainly had him off. Also remember Carl Stonehewer kicking Anders Henriksson at Smallmead when Anders crashed and was on the ground. But then also remember Bobby Schwartz and Steve Gresham not getting on at all during Gresh's one very poor season with the Racers. -
The crowds did go up in the all too brief Darcy Ward era. His presence guaranteed my trip down the M4. Having seen crowds decline at Oxford and Reading I'd say there were several meetings with less than 1,000 last year at Blunsdon. More promotion is needed, but word of mouth is a powerful ally when the product is good as it was when Darcy was in the team.

It saddens me to say that team would not win the Premier League, I just hope it can scrape some home wins.

Both the dirt deflector and air fences have been good for riders as well as Barry Briggs. I'm with Mr Rising on this one.

Have they tried Thomas H Jonasson?
