Everyone sees it for their own team when saying you are unlucky (or lucky). I look at it that Berwick lost points in heat 2 with Greg's engine failure, heat 4 with Connor avoiding Mountain in front of him and heat 5 with Leon's engine problems. I also say Ryan should have been of 15 metres in the race he had a problem in as he moved again and he was already on a warning. To me both teams had an equal amount of bad luck in the meeting so probably the end result was fair.

Belle Vue Colts v Bewick Bullets - Friday 7 April
sparks123 replied to PotteringAround's topic in National League Speedway
No nonsense from me. I have seen Berwick get beat by more points than they did on Friday so no problem for me. There is no attack on anyone (you are the one having an attack on the Berwick riders for falling off if anything). With regard to attending Archie, Ask Hayley next time you see her why she announced twice for Archie to be attended to, when as you say the medical team was already there (attended Connor quickly but not Archie). It was during the delay (when Archie was being attended to in the pits) that a rider was out on the track. He was not on his bike so I am not confused as I seen it happen right in front of me so you must be the one who is confused. We will agree on a speedy recovery for Archie. -
Belle Vue Colts v Bewick Bullets - Friday 7 April
sparks123 replied to PotteringAround's topic in National League Speedway
There is no problem from me with them treating Archie for 45-50 minutes either. Since Berwick must have set some kind of record for riders sliding off at the NSS it might be worthwhile giving the first aid team a refresher to get them to respond to riders who have fallen off or are lying on the track (1st bend first aiders attended to Coles and 3rd bend first aiders ignored Freeman). It shouldn't take the centre green presenter asking for Archie to be attended to TWICE (by the first aid team) before any action was taken. It is also good to see that riders can be on the start line digging when the tractors are going past for five laps (Belle Vue number 7 before the re-run of heat one). I thought that was stopped with someone getting killed at a stockcar meeting (thought you weren't allowed on track when the tractors are out). -
Some better calls tonight from his mate? Riders pulling back and delaying the start and getting away with it (when the 2 minute light has went out). Letting Pickering off with a serious delay when on a tactical (2 minutes light at Berwick cancels after 2mins and 3 seconds) where the 2 minute light was off for good couple of minutes. The green light was flashing in the second half but not the first meeting? Shame when riders are taking the mickey the race cannot be started with the rider not ready (digging away). It would make them learn for later on (instead of letting them continuing to take the mickey).

Things just not going Berwick's way at the moment (get 3 of potentially, the 4 strongest teams when missing riders). I thought the some of the starts were quite bad last night (warn Nick in heat 1 and he has his back wheel spinning in all his races). It was good that the ref caught out Kyle Howarth once when he was going backwards (the race he finished last in). Thought Chris was in front of Nick in heat he was excluded (there was a couple of instances where the Berwick riders had to shut off or they would have ended in the fence so surely the same applies to Nick). In heat 12 one of the Berwick riders had to shut of due to Jason being on one wheel and possibly not being in full control entering the first bend so could have been a restart if you are excluding Chris Harris. The most baffling thing was what the Leicester riders were doing to the tapes? They were releasing the tapes, playing about with the kickers and magnet etc. Why is a team allowed to interfere with equipment not relevant to them?

Not just BSN stream playing up. Lost Redcar stream as well. -
Berwick v Glasgow CL 28/5/22 @7pm
sparks123 replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There was a TV aerial cable and a cat 5E (possibly 6) network cable run from the sponsors box to the old video gantry (I run them in for Bob Tasker so the hospitality box could watch replays of the races). They were still there when I was down after the storms to repair the speakers but have since disappeared from the turnstile side (cut out?). Maybe they are still on the Tea Bar roof? It's a possibility that they could be reconnected if they are still on the roof and the other end is at the hospitality entrance. -
Think Kyle had the 11th highest average from the under 21's. Top 10 seeded to the final (possibly at Birmingham) on averages from last year.
-
I think it is better to show teams that are further apart (geographically). If you had Glasgow v Edinburgh (as an example) then some fans could watch the stream instead of gong to the meeting. I have no idea who the other Berwick meetings are but I would like to think they wouldn't include Redcar, Newcastle, Edinburgh or Glasgow for the same reason as the example above. If all teams are being shown twice at home and twice away from home, there will be some meetings that are more appealing to the neutral fans than other meetings.
-
Get the Berwick home meetings on demand (once you are back home from the meeting) if they are good meetings. I think it's worthwhile buying a season pass. I will probably watch most of the meetings as a highlights package. I need to find out if you can start watching half way through the meeting (say at heat 8) and you can scan back to heat 1 and watch the races before watching the last 2 or 3 races live. Take it you mean the interviews? Will get round to watching them at some point.

That's one of the cases I was using. I thought that David had raced 10 or 11 meetings for Glasgow and that's how he didn't become an asset due to not racing in 12 official meetings.
-
Wonder if Luke Harrison will be on a 500cc next season? Could he fit into the wemoves**t Bullets?
-
Do you not count as an asset if you race 12 official meetings for a club (or was that back in the day)? He raced 9 home meetings (Redcar, Plymouth, Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle in the league, Leicester in the KOC and Play Offs, Edinburgh in the KOC and Glasgow in the Play Offs). He raced 6 away meetings (Edinburgh, Redcar and Scunny in the league, Glasgow in the Play Offs, also Edinburgh in the KOC and Leicester in the Play Offs). Poole used R/R for him at Birmingham (League) and Leicester (KOC). He has therefore been listed in the Poole team for 9 league meetings (5H 4A), 4 KOC (2H 2A) and 4 Play Off meetings (2H 2A). I would think that being listed for a team 17 times would make you an asset (some teams only had 22 matches all season).

Nowt tae dae wi us. If Newcastle had beat us at home then they would have won the league (or taken the bonus point from Berwick). To many close defeats for us on the road if I remember correctly or Berwick could have been in the running. Best meeting in 2002 was at Coventry anyway (thanks Kelvin).

Number 8 for each team and Junior League
sparks123 replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Could be onto something there. By the same token Robert's 3 points in 2016 and 1 point in 2017 didn't really change GB's position in the SWC so he should have been at home watching and not gaining the world championship experience. I wonder if that experience of racing in a world final at a young age helped him any in this years SON? -
Oxford Cheetahs 2022
sparks123 replied to CowleyCheetahs's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I have just checked the official Speedway GB site. There were 26 Friday nights (between 7/5/21 and 29/10/21) There were championship meetings at the 4 Friday tracks on FIVE occasions (so 5 times in 26 the 4 Friday tracks raced a home championship meeting). Discounting October that will be 5 out of 21 times. 4th June there was 2 league and 2 cup matches. 9th July - 4 league meetings. 30th July - 2 cup matches with 2 meetings postponed. 20th Aug - 4 league meetings. 3rd Sept - 3 teams at home with Poole also. 10th Sept - 4 league meetings with 1 postponed. There were 7 weeks when there was 3 championship meetings at the above venues. There were 11 postponements through the season on these Friday nights. There was one week when there was no meetings. I would have thought a compromise could have been reached where Oxford can race on a Friday night but cannot race a Championship home meeting if the other 4 teams are racing at home (could race their junior team on these nights). -
Oxford Cheetahs 2022

Berwick promoters are Gary Flint, Steven Dews and Jamie Courtney. Scott and Jamie are the company directors. Source (Berwick speedway programme). -
Been wrong the last couple of times also. Good to see you need to give an e-mail address so if you vote various times for the same rider you will need various e-mail's. Great news for Berwick fans. Hopefully the other members of the team see this and use it as inspiration so we get all riders involved in heat 15 (and possibly 13) and Leon can keep progressing without being put under this much pressure.

2022 Teams & Points average
sparks123 replied to Tosh1218's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Only 42 points per meeting. Averages based on 4 rides per rider per meeting. For heat 15 a riders average is usually divided by 5 (5 races instead of 4). Scoring 8 points from 4 races is the same average as scoring 10 points from 5 races. -
What is fanseat (out of interest)? I'm the same as you except I have Premier Sports instead of fanseat. Don't think I will bother with the stream (probably watch the football instead) since Tai is out. Would probably have got it if Cook etc were the replacement but not with Pearson on commentary and Harris riding.

I think you are right in saying the speedway hasn't used the football first aid room for a rider (was once used for a spectator I think a few seasons ago). I have quoted Ian Rae from facebook in the following post about your second point (if there is a county ambulance it is usually called for). The ambulance can leave the stadium if it has to but usually only as a last resort (used up at the training track in Duns sometimes). Ian Rae Berwick, for a number of years now have two Ambulance’s ( one is our own, the other from a private company )and two Paramedics at every meeting. I think Ian will know better than yourself or me? It is in speedway friends on a post from Roger Hutchins if you would like to check. You will also see this confirmed by Dennis so I would think Dennis and Ian know what they are talking about.

I wonder what I was doing for the two days I took off my work (holidays) to fit sockets, new lights, heaters, help with the painting etc. I thought it was for the first aid room (that FIM wanted I think) but obviously it wasn't. I will agree it wasn't used as much as it could have been (luckily enough). John then bought an ambulance so it therefore was never really used after that. When the speedway started using the football changing room, I would suspect they would (if necessary) have use of the football room as well (would like to think as I replaced ballasts and lights in the rooms, hospitality area, toilets and the showers).
