  1. It's late and I have had a 14 hour working day and tired so maybe I am reading wrong, but what's the difference? He didn't turn up and wasn't present amounts to the same thing doesn't it?
  2. He's taken the Hancock 'I am did this for the benefit of everyone else' approach.
  3. I do wonder how much credibility this gives us to the casual BT Sport viewer when the presenters talk about this, and how a rider is riding for XYZ clubs during the next few days.
  4. I would..... I wanted to know the rider was 'ours' and committed to my club and team. In the old days doubling up was not for every meeting, Perks main commitment would be Long Eaton and then he would do the odd doubling up for Cradley. It was never doubted that he Long Eaton committed first and foremost. (well at least it felt that way, I hope that was the case). These days I am not sure I would know if a rider who rode for a different club most nights was really bothered about my team or if this was just another earning opportunity for them. If I had a club, I know to some extent it's an earning opportunity, but I would want to feel that those 7 riders were committed to my club and team and that was their number one speedway priority.
  5. Exactly. I spent season after season going to every single meeting, home and away watching Long Eaton, and it always felt like I was watching a team. These days I don't follow any club, because it's not my team.... reading this it seems like those of you with clubs to support still are also feeling the same, you have a club but no real team to support. Somebody posted a suggestion on another thread last week (I think), at the time I thought it was a silly suggestion but reflecting on this thread it makes sense, to reward teams with an average deduction for a rider for retaining that rider the following season. I guess one problem is that it's become a vicious cycle... allowing riders to ride for lots of clubs in the UK and abroad means they are getting injured because of more meetings, hence needing more guests and more r/r. I don't have an answer, hopefully the more intelligent on the forum do.
  6. So many 'experts' on hear slagging Lynch off for not playing the stupid joker. It's so, so easy when you are not the one making the decision. Hindsight is so wonderful hey.
  7. When I first started watching speedway in the early 80s, there was doubling up, but it actually worked. If memory serves, often the number one rider from the old National League side (in our case Dave Perks) would double up in reserve for a British League side (Cradley and I think then Coventry in Perks case). The national league side would retain priority of course. Of course there was a clear different in class between both leagues back then, and far less average overseas riders clogging up the British leagues. But the rider always felt like 'ours', Long Eaton's. It never felt like he was a travelling journeyman rider who was riding for a different club every night.
  8. I gave one very good one on the other thread beyond this seasons performance, his age. Just you are so obtuse you choose to dismiss my opinion as childish... An approach you take on the forum a little bit too frequent. Trying 'listening' to other users occasionally.
  9. Well I think we have debated this to death elsewhere on another thread, I don't think we will agree. But this was more about how such a decision is arrived at, I was just interested in how the decision is actually made and by who.
  10. Thank you for the clarification Philip. If there is some debate between who to choose, who gets the final say Armando or BSI? I am just interested what protocols are used to decide.
  11. I have been commenting on my thoughts about Hancock being handed a wildcard elsewhere. But seeing that Monster geezer in the pits last night, and the fact Monster sponsor the SGP. I have a question about the wildcard picks for 2018. Who actually decides? Is it one individual or is there a panel of executives from within the SGP? Most importantly with at least two of the Monster riders likely to miss the cut, I have to ask. Monster won't have any say or influence on picks will they?
  12. Judging by Middlo's tweet yesterday (boasting about past glories and commenting on true fans sticking with the club) I think he's feeling the pressure... can someone please give him the helpline number
  13. I hope he does appeal, so the ban then will be suspended until the hearing, which means he will miss more of 2018 when it is upheld (and extended). He looked a shadow of his former self last night... I wonder if Poole fans really want him back?
  14. He was not going to be WC this season... you might call that claim utter drivel, I call that claim 'fact', he was NOT going to be WC. But I will bow to your judgement on talking utter drivel, you know more about that than me.
  15. No pleasing some... compared to Cardiff tonight's meeting had amazingly fantastic racing in nearly every race. Cardiff may be a lovely stadium, but these temp tracks are just not conducive for great racing... which is what speedway should be about.
  16. What? Was you watching another meeting? Fantastic racing all night.
  17. Why does that muppet of a commentator talk about if rider X wins their final ride, semi and final they will lead the championip by x points??? What is the effin point of 'what if's' like that?
  18. It really was 50/50 both slightly turned on the other rider. If I had to call it, I would call Zagar like the ref.
  19. I suppose this is one way for Holder to get points.... wait for the other riders to be excluded!
  20. Pearson's new 2017 saying (he seems to get one per season)... 'Hereeee we goooo' (at least once per race start, twice just then!)
  21. So Holder riding fairly naff this evening in the SGP. It will be all the BSPA's fault.
  22. Wow.. the Greg Hancock show on BT Sport.... allowing Pearson to suck up in person.
  23. But he clearly was not going to be WC this season, and age doesn't bring quicker gating reactions, and great fitness levels as a general rule. He is the past world champion, he won't be a future world champion so time to give the place and chance to someone else... after all, that's what he did to great plaudits for the SWC.
  24. But typical of this moron throughout his career... act first, think later. His latter tweet he still had a go at British speedway.
