Sgp Wildcards 2018
TheReturn replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agreed, injuries happen, but it was always the case, the World Final would miss key riders because of injury preventing them qualifying. I think if wildcards are to be used they should only be used in case of existing SGP riders missing much of a SGP season through early season injury, but if no rider qualifies through injury then yes top 8 from the SGP Challenge. -

Sshh.. we are not allowed to be critical of Pearson on this forum. -
Amazing how people defend basic stuff like him failing to get the scores right. Surely people are right to expect that very basic of things from a so called professional commentator?

Stockholm Gp 2017

Excellent final race, shame the screaming prat ruined the spectacle. And of course congratulations to the same tonight. From the 23 races he managed to restrict himself using the phrase 'here we go' at the start of each race to just 20 mentions. Not bad for a professional sports commentator hey. -

Well if that is the case, he needs to change that! Yes he can take advice from his team, but he's the rider, he's the one who knows the conditions so it needs to be his final call on which gate to select. If he is the one selecting and getting it wrong he should perhaps take a closer look and analyse what his peers do in similar situations. -

Looking back two GPs when he made a big thing about telling Doyley he's coming for him, he looks a bit silly now in the two GPs since. -

Is it not all about getting the 'occasional' attendee in the area to give it a go ? -

Sad, pathetic moron.... but just to educate you a little bit, just a little bit. It's 'You're' not 'your'... Newman you're a backstabber. -

I love the irony of that! Poole fans complaining, don't like it when shoe on other foot! -

So what's the excuse for the track every other week? -
Oh memory flashback... My first car, an old blue Allegro. I passed my test on a Thursday and remember driving up the M1 that same evening to watch Long Eaton race at Sheffield. Burned so much oil in that 50 odd mile trip and would cut out at about 70mph dropping me back to about 30mph.... an inexperienced driver on a busy M1 in a dodgy car... I was totally relaxed... not!

I like that idea, time to see the art of team riding put back into the sport.

Greg Hancock Hurt?
TheReturn replied to False dawn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The point is, if he can announce he is pulling out of the last two SWC because he wants to give the younger riders a chance (being the kind generous non-selfish man he is), then why can the same not be applied to the SGP by the race organisers? In the SGP he was only just in the top 8 by 2 points. He scored 7 in his last full GP before injury. Yes he may have climbed, but you can't assure me either that form would not have continued and he may well of dropped out of the top 8. Reading between the lines it looks like he will get the pick anyway. That doesn't meant it can't be challenged. Last night's GP was fantastic, Hancock was not missed.... so time to move on. He will rightly go down in the history books for being the rider with the most appearances and world titles, but a championship is meant to be ruthless and it can't be run on emotion and history books, it's time to allow someone else to make history, time to move on. -
