  1. Jeezo he'd need to shift some timber
  2. That seems a sensible estimate IMO, about an average of 400-500. 1000 seems wild of the mark, again only IMO.
  3. For once I find myself in agreement with you Blobby. It's total pish.
  4. I'm sure you're right but a fine for not completing three fixtures isn't going to be cheap. However we must have calculated that the three fines are less than the anticipated loss.
  5. I honestly find it odd that we'll participate in the two "away" legs but not stage a "home" leg. It's weird, odd. The silence is deafening.
  6. I think you're right. I'm a Warriors season ticket holder and for four season, prior to covid, I sat beside two young guys, who were Celtic season ticket holders, and an old boy who travelled from Dundee (fair play on a Friday autumn and winter evening) but none of the 3 of them came back after covid. Now I'm happy to believe my lack of sparkling personalty may mean they're now sitting elsewhere, but honestly I doubt it. They've just decided not to come back. To be fair covid did coincide with a very poor run of form for the Warriors.
  7. Hmm yes "the kids race" don't get me started! Humbug.
  8. I genuinely hope that you are correct. If the stand does hold 400, let's say for arguments sake, then maybe 150 in the shed on a good night, and another 150 around the rest of the ground would be 700. There isn't a magic wand to get more punters in. It's a fringe minority sport. I do genuinely think if more people could be exposed to it they'd become fans, supporters, attenders. We need to do something about the length of a meeting, on a fair weather evening, ideally 90 minutes with 120 minutes max being the exception. Do we think meetings are artificially prolonged to increase bar and concession income? Oh I'm very cynical in my old age.......
  9. I was going to say 1000 but I really wasn't sure. You'd honestly say as many as an average of 800? I don't have any official facts to contradict you. It might be deceptive, the stand is always pretty full. How many do we think the stand holds? The rest of the ground, for me, looks pretty sparse.
  10. I'm not doubting what you're saying. I myself haven't travelled with Glasgow for about 4 seasons. I would regularly travel away to Edinburgh, Berwick, Newcastle and Workington. Perhaps that there is an obvious reason why attendances have dropped significantly. Less away fans, even within our "northern" neighbours. IIRC didn't the Facennas, or perhaps it was Dick/Dickson/Pairman promotion, who stated a break-even figure of around 750? As has been speculated by fellow posters, we must be averaging about half that.
  11. The attendance levels at Glasgow cannot be sustainable. I don't have access to the figures obviously but we must be losing a fortune every meeting. When they said that the attendance at the GP Challenge was c2000 IIRC I remember thinking this looks multiple multiple times what we get on a weekly basis. Four times, five times? There's got to come a point when a generous benefactor will not risk their children's inheritance. It's happened in other sports. We've seen, in the last couple of weeks, two top division English rugby union teams fold, one of them, Wasps, a hugely successful (on the field) club. Whilst expenditure running a speedway team isn't comparable it must be relatively comparable. Flying in guys from the continent, at short notice, must cost an unsustainable amount of money.
  12. Whether he wants to or not Tom Brennan should not be allowed back out. I'm thirty feet away and he can't walk a straight line.
  13. Very pleasant evening. Very poor crowd at ten to six. I wonder if the low sun might be a problem. "Sun off" before anyone says......
  14. Oh right.... YET..... why didn't you say that.
  15. .....And he rides abroad in Poland. Blobby is denying facts, to suit his own anti Glasgow agenda.
  16. No you said he's not good enough to ride in the Premiership or abroad when he's literally doing that already. It's not a question of your opinion, it's a fact. Do keep up.
  17. He's literally riding in the Premiership and abroad, in Poland already. What are you jabbering about now?
  18. Transfer the franchise to Ashfield and resurrect the Giants....? To be honest this is a big concern of mine too. There is precious little encouraging pathway for junior Scottish speedway talent. In the NDL crowd levels are a secondary concern.
