  1. Should the Colts fixture not take precedence for the prodigy? I'm lost with the rules these days.
  2. This is our first time in Manchester and I'm quite surprised by the number of vagrants. They seem harmless enough but it doesn't give a great impression TBH.
  3. This is very very very disappointing. We're here in a very drizzly Manchester, as of 1230, cursing whatever reason Greg isn't riding.
  4. So.................if you went to see a movie at the Showcase, for example, before the SWC you'd be fine to just leave your car there as a patron? How can they prove, when you're entering the car park that you're not going to the pics?
  5. "Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Thursday is looking cloudy and wet with rain turning heavy at times. On Friday and Saturday it will become generally drier and brighter although, there could be occasional showers." That's not good Agreed it's nothing very very concerning. It's not awful but it's still not good.
  6. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/gcw2hzs1u#?fcTime=1469664000 The weather forecast is looking a bit Manchester-ish for Thursday and Saturday. We're East Stand, so bringing a brolly!!
  7. As a Glasgow supporter I am taking a keen interest in any appearance of Danny Ayres, either for Kent or as a guest. Clearly we've taken a great shine to Mr Ayres, with his infectious enthusiasm and showboating. However I am surprised, pleasantly but still surprised all the same, to hear you describe his style as smooth. To be critically objective his style is anything but smooth around Ashfield. I've posted agreements on other threads that (paradoxically) he'd go faster if he slowed down!?! By this, of course, I am meaning that if he focused on his style / smoothness and choosing / testing racing lines he'd make quicker progress around the track. Ashfield has much tighter turns than Kent. I've never been to Ipswich. Is Foxhole a technical track? Although we love to have him at Ashfield I wonder if he's not yet good enough to ride a smallish track consistently well. I suppose it's a double edged sword. Do you want a novice rider to only ride well around the likes of EOESG or Owlerton and have no chance at the likes of Armadale.
  8. In which way are you suggesting any confusion on my part? It is you who is contrary. You had a dig at Richard for being a "GT" and then contradicted yourself by saying it wasn't a criticism. If you had described Richard as an excellent gater then that would not be a criticism however you chose to use the "GT" epithet. However I couldn't agree with you more regarding the waste of time that is jungle balls and kids running after a numpty in a furry suit.
  9. So "one of the biggest GT in the PL" wasn't a criticism or a dig on your part? You're actually complimenting Richard on being a good gater, thanks for clarifying. I acknowledge that WWE is potentially dangerous. I am differentiating between Sports Entertainment and a proper unrehearsed sport. The primary objective of WWE is entertainment. The primary objective of speedway is to win and to be paid, not primarily to entertain. If you are a good gater then you've a better chance of winning and being paid.
  10. I'm at a loss as to why anyone would apparently criticise someone who is a good gater. Obviously the objective of speedway is to finish first. If you're a good gater then this dramatically increases the chances of you successfully accomplishing that which you are being paid to do. It's like the daft criticism of Kris Boyd "he's not a very god footballer..............he only scores goals" Doh!! Of course, as a paying supporter, I'd rather see the likes of Sir Les miss the gate the pass the three other guys in front of him, lap after lap. This is a professional serious extremely dangerous sport it's not WWE. Being in front, as quickly as possible, makes it safer for life and limb also. Richard has shown that he is a good team player too, shepherding less lights.
  11. I agree with this. During a family holiday in Kent, last week, I took the opportunity to see Danny ride for the Kings, coincidentally against Rye House Raiders. Ben Morley was the best rider on show. Danny won races comfortably but his technique was still poor, the wider Central Park bends being more forgiving. He's keen as a badger but the apparent paradox of "slow down to go faster" is spot on. If he concentrated on technique and racing lines he'd make progress around the track. His "job" is to beat the opposition 7 at home and better technique than quicker speed would consistently do this IMO.
  12. This was my first ever NL meeting. Being down from Glasgow for a family holiday I had to see Danny riding for his "wee" team. I really liked the stadium. The ladies at the entrance were very welcoming. The racing was as I had expected with very mixed abilities. I took a speedway virgin with me and he really enjoyed himself. Speedway's basic rules are pretty easy to understand. If I lived locally I'd be back every week although I'd have to avoid those speed calming measures on one of the roads in. What are they all about?!?
  13. I must say I was impressed with your "wee boy" Blobby. That's the first time I've seen him. In novices I look for a smooth style - which he certainly has - really pleasing to the eye, on the bike. Aggression, track tactics and speed usually come with experience, unless you're an off-the-hook natural.
  14. Is Willie Lawson just having a bit of fun or is he on his way back? What age is he now?
  15. Dear ref - please let's rattle through this one. Two minutes on at the end of each heat. Not three hours!?!
  16. The weather in Glasgow is glorious. Dissapointed to hear of the call offs and the replacements seem a curious choice. More "making it up as we go along" from the BSPA.
  17. Fair enough but what's the point of practising on an engine you don't compete on? Unless there's some kind of logic like practising with a smaller sized football or swinging a baseball bat with weights on it?
  18. I'm lost here. "He only rides them at practise". What's the point in doing that? Is it just a personal physical strength and conditioning? I can't see the point of practising on an engine you don't compete on. Maybe I'm missing something..............?
  19. A bargain Adult entry £10 to get in local derby Coventry vs Wolves in the EL this evening. Imagine getting in to speedway for that cheap. Hopefully it's rammed.
