  1. Really? So how come riders are often turning around and riding back to the 4th bend and then back to the tapes? (Genuine question)
  2. The point I was making was that the ref not upping the tapes didn't stop them returning to the pit gate.
  3. There can be little doubt that Bomber is getting more money than he'd have got at Panthers. But the way it comes across, you seem to be implying that Bomber decided not to ride for Panthers because he had problems getting paid by them last season, and/or was worried he might not get paid if he stayed with Panthers for another season. I think you should clarify exactly what you meant. And, if necessary, provide evidence. Otherwise that comment should be amended or deleted.
  4. Instead of behaving like spoilt brat(s) they could have gone to the pit gates straightaway..... anti-clockwise.
  5. I was planning to bring 2 family members here on an Easter visit from abroad. Very disappointed - but no complaints.
  6. I was at the recent forum, and I can confirm that it IS what were were told. The phrase "stick it where the sun doesn't shine" wasn't actually mentioned, but nobody present was left in any doubt about what lay behind it - or about the reasons. I hope Ged did tell the BSPA to "stick it....." - or preferably a stronger version! Cue a raft of snidey anti-Panthers/anti-Ged comments from the usual suspects - all with a wafer-thin pretence of it being merely "banter"
  7. It'd be nice.... Glass houses? If you're going to pick people up on simple typos, you really do need to construct your sentences correctly.
  8. Stickler? It'd be nice.... if he constructed his sentences correctly.
  9. that's a totally false (and spurious) analogy. in others words, he lied through his teeth. Hmmm.... better than BWD? Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing with you; just wondering which would be a better shout. I think I'd be happy with either of them - with Nicholls at No.1 Jack Smith at No. 7
  10. Of course it does! The ACU rescinded the free entry thing, and they reduced that spitefully huge fine to a far more reasonable £1000 for each meeting Holder missed. The ACU considered that what the BSPA/SCB did was neither reasonable nor correct. It's stupid to even try to put a different spin on it. finally! Let's hope you don't come back - but I'm sure you won't be able to resist it; your sort just can't help themselves. You even add "for today" to leave the door open.
  11. Well, you make a fair point about neutral fans - but I doubt if there were more than a handful of them at the Fours. In any case, riders always miss these meetings for a variety of reasons, so neutral fans will always suffer a degree of 'disappointment'; it goes with the territory of being a speedway fan. And surely the bigger disappointment was the lame performances by several other teams who failed to offer much of a challenge. Shouldn't that be their strongest complaint? The 'bright side' is that the ACU, by revising that extortionate fine and revoking the free entry thing, have clipped the wings of the BSPA/MC/SCB. We can only hope that it will force them to change their ways - but I fear that it won't. Certain people (we all know who) will be simmering away just waiting for an opportunity for what they see as revenge. That's the sort of characters they are Deeper and deeper! Now resorting to an aggressive tone..... shamed AND embarrassed because you've been ridiculed? Tells us all we need to know about you.
  12. Yep, I suggested Nicholls Smith (or Bacon) plus BWD. (Although it was a zillion pages back thanks to the tiresome cr4p posted by the numpties who pollute every Panthers thread. T.Kurtz is a good shout too. That'd give us a bit more (another 0.38) to play with at reserve - and thereby <3.20 for a No.7. But looking at the official list of averages: http://www.speedwaygb.co/files/downloads/c17_issue_final_numerical.pdf there isn't anybody under 3.20 who'd you'd really want (Hall?!!!) So unless Ged can find a decent 3.00-3.20 rider from somewhere, I think Jack Smith (or Bacon) would do. Smith seems to be in the frame anyway.
  13. better to just STFU on this Panthers thread. More and more tiresome with every post.
  14. Well yes, the rules state something to the effect that you have to use your 'best' possible 4. But that can only be based on the averages at that particular point. And we all know that averages are not necessarily a true indicator of anything. And the counter-argument is: (i) Panthers eventual line-up was strong enough to do the job, thank you very much - and it turned out that it was the "best" line-up Panthers could have fielded. How can you do better than win it? (ii) Did anybody who attended the Fours really think "Hey, no Jack Holder for Panthers? I'm being short-changed here!" Or did they think "Ooooh that's fkin great, Panthers are weakened and my team therefore has a better chance" ? Of course people thought that; you only have to recall some of the posts that appeared on this forum at the time. But there's never been any argument that Ged/Panthers broke the strict letter of the rules. Like I've said in another post (q.v.) the issue has always been the ridiculous and spiteful penalties that were imposed. Does anybody think that it was right? Speak now or forever STFU about it! The ACU certainly didn't, and good for them. We can only hope that it will clip the wings of the BSPA/MC/SCB.......
  15. Ged is on record as admitting that what he did was wrong, and that he broke the rules. I don't think anybody here in Panthers-land has claimed otherwise. The point at issue was the unprecedented size of the fine, and the ridiculous extra penalty about free entry to the first meeting of the season. (Also, as Ged has said, he was, in effect, stitched up by Godfrey. In hindsight Ged should have covered his ar5e better and f**k knows why he he bothered consulting that bloke in the first place). We all know who and what was behind it: pure spite on the part of certain people on the various speedway committees. Fortunately for Ged, and for Panthers, the ACU stamped on it. And quite right too! Nobody is saying, or even implying, that "it's ok to break the rules". That's an unintelligent and ill-informed comment. And it kinda gives the game away as to what you're really all about. Better to stop digging when you're in a hole. You got outed: tiresome WUM. Take the shame!
  16. Ah, the old "I'm free to post what I like when I like" defence. But it's bollox. My point is that most (all?) of your posts on this thread - which is, let's not forget, headed "Panthers 2018" - are very tiresome. Adding that rider at the end about being glad Panthers are still running next year is just a clumsy attempt to make you sound like a good guy at heart. Maybe you are, I dunno. And maybe you're not a tiresome WUM who thinks he's a master of wit and repartee. But that's how you come across.
  17. I don't think so. If my figures and calculations are right, with Smith at No.7 it leaves us with 5.86 for the final spot - and Berge is on 6.91 according to the official averages listed here: http://www.speedwaygb.co/files/downloads/c17_issue_final_numerical.pdf
  18. oh do give it rest! It's not witty and it's certainly not adding anything interesting or constructive to this thread, which is what some of us are trying to do.
  19. I'm not so sure about that. Even if Panthers were sign a 2.00 rider at No.7 it'd still only leave 7.85 for the key No.5 spot. And that begs the question who could we get on <7.85 ? And if it's Jack Smith at No.7, it'd leave us with <7.28 and that's not going to get us a rider who is significantly better than Ulrich at No.5 I agree with the posts by Panthers89 and New era Panthers (q.v.)
  20. How about: 1. Nicholls (9.72) 2 Wilson-Dean (5.61) 3 Lunna (5.90) 4 Toft (6.77) 5 Ostergaard (7.12) 6 Lambert (4.56) 7 Bacon (2.67) or J.Smith (2.57) Total: 42.35 or 42.25 (Apologies if any of those averages are wrong)
  21. My heart says Hans, but my head - looking at their averages - says Scotty. That extra 0.35 could make a significant difference for the last team spots. I guess a lot depends of who would fit in both cases.
  22. You're talking about what "should" happen; I was talking about how things actually pan out in the crooked world of speedway. It doesn't take a genius to work out that Fat Maud has JH lined up for Poole next season... ergo he won't be banned. exactly what I was going to post!
  23. http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/news.php?extend.3221.2 Monday October 02, 2017 PETERBOROUGH will aim to take another big step towards hitting their late-season SGB Championship target this Friday. The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers entertain Workington at the East of England Arena (7.30pm) in their penultimate league fixture of the 2017 campaign. And owner Ged Rathbone is anxious to ensure Peterborough continue a hot streak which has seen them reel off five successive league wins. "We sat down with the riders at the beginning of September and set them the goal of going through the rest of the league season unbeaten, said Rathbone. "August was a dreadful month for us - the Fours win aside - and we had to get ourselves going in the right direction again. "We were not prepared to allow the season to fizzle out into disappointment and we always believed a run like this was possible. "The response from the boys has been superb with five wins in a row and we're hopeful of adding two more to that total." Peterborough recorded home and away successes against both Glasgow and Workington during a super September. They also beat Scunthorpe at Alwalton. Peterborough hope to be at full-strength to face the Comets again on Friday. Reserve Tom Bacon is expected to be fit after withdrawing from the weekend success at Workington with neck and arm injuries following a heat two spill.
