Peterborough Panthers 2015
PE7Panther replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What was said just after the break was something along the lines of "we've had lots of people come up to us during the break and we're delighted that about £2,800 has already been donated...". Then they mentioned that a fan who wished to remain anon. had chipped in 10 grand. I had to dash off but I'm pretty sure more people would've come forward at the end. I'll certainly be emailing the Supp Club tomorrow because I want to do my bit too. -

good summary. other snippets I remember: - about £8500-£9000 is needed to cover the cost of each home meeting - all riders have now been fully paid (no clues as to how, or by whom, though) - RF & JM definitely not willing/able to be involved in the foreseeable future, but that's due to business commitments rather than anything financial - but as far as the future goes, the message was never say "never" - all fans invited to think about making a regular donation by DDM or whatever (eg £5, £10, £20... every little helps to keep Panthers alive & racing) and it will possibly involve setting up some sort of "VIP Membership Club" or suchlike Overall it all sounded very positive and I think everybody came away feeling confident about 'The Big Question'.. i.e. will Panthers still run next season?. It will deffo be PL though AND Fridays are back! -

Based on what I've read - and on what I've heard - I'm looking at next season with optimism. because I'm confident that Panthers will be running again. Ok,ok.... make that "cautious optimism" - but it's much better than the scenario we all feared. -

Maybe RF & JM should just get Bratters back and let him run it. It can't be any worse than this season. And it wouldn't be too hard to improve on the previous four! Wonder who Bratters would want as TM? Has Sully actually left these shores? Hans back at No.1, no Bjerres...... [Paladin closes his eyes and drifts off into a dream scenario] -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?

Hmmm..... Dump Dilger as well and we'd have a decent team again :-) 1. Bjerre 2. Roynon 3. Blackbird 4. Ostergaard 5. Dryml 6. Barrett 7. Guest*** If we reached the play-offs this Panthers team would be the one they'd all want to avoid. *** get the best possible guest, not the cheapest available. e.g. for the homes, somebody who is decent around our track, and a rider who handles Plymouth ok for the remaining away. -
4 points and 1 point...... well, I guess 5 points is probably a bit better than Hall & Dilger would've mustered up between them. But 5 pts from 9 rides is still CAK! Maybe it was a big step up for Phillips and unfair to criticise him too much. But was he really the best we could find? BCD says it wasn't sorted out until midday - but why not ffs?! So Dilger was tied up in Germany (good!!) Ok but they must've known about that ages ago so why leave it so late? Oh silly, silly me; Phillips is bound to come cheap AND he's based just up the road on Teeside so even cheaper! Buy cheap, you get cheap. And so another defeat - and the play-offs disappear into the distance.

good thinking.... erm..... seeing as how we pluck our team manager from the stands these days, do you fancy the job? That can't do any worse either! -

is it too late to make team changes? Is there a deadline and has it passed? If so, what would Fat Maud do? There must be some crafty strokes that could pulled. By hook or by crook we need to replace Hall & Dilger. And a bit lively! -

Nailed on: Somerset Ipswich Edinburgh Berwick Almost certs Scunthorpe Final place between: Workington Peterborough * it will largely be decided by who can pick up most points away * both will easily finish above Newcastle's & Redcar's final totals Fall just short: Newcastle - max. poss total is 40 (probably end up with only 35) Redcar - max. poss total is 36 (probably end up with only 32) Also-rans: Glasgow Plymouth Rye House Sheffield -
Panthers Vs Plymouth..... 2/9/14
PE7Panther replied to Panthers89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
yes it is a must (or it was a must) oh yes it is -
But the second meeting was like knocking over skittles We needed him to bag a decent score against Scun. Barrett, Dilger & Hall were pi55poor; 6 points between them. At home! Cost us a point - and that could be the difference bewteen making the play-offs and not. Maybe that's the cunning plan though......

Yeah. It's called "spin" - and it's sometimes added later as an arse-covering exercise prezactkly! no question about it! but it hasn't strengthened the team! That's the point. -

good post, I totally agree I agree with you again good post From what I've seen of him so far, and based on comments of fans of other clubs where he's been, I'd say that's just optimistic guessworkIn any case, what we wanted/needed was a reserve who would do BETTER than Jacobs - and preferably a young Brit, not yet another duff European rider -

Hmmm.... that's what I thought. So it's disgraceful to boot out a young Brit (who, by the way, was slowly improving) for yet another johnny foreigner who, by all accounts, hasn't exactly been pulling up any trees over here. I wish him well, of course - but it doesn't seem right imho -

I feel sorry for Joe Jacobs. He was improving - he has certainly upped his average - and I'm wondering if we really needed to replace him with Dilger. Would Hall+Roynon+Jacobs not fit? -
