needing permission doesn't mean they won't get it.

Is that a good or valid reason? Other clubs fit meetings in on 'non-race days' and try to accommodate the visiting club. Panthers certainly do - and us Panthers fans get a truly mixed bag as regards which days we're down at the EoES. Do the rules say that meeting MUST always be held on the day that the home teams prefers and/or have as their normal race day? I don't think so! And the home team is supposed to offer 3 dates but, according to Ged Rathbone, Edinburgh didn't. Edinburgh would race on a Monday if it suited them, for sure!

Just realised I posted the above in the Panthers 2017 thread when it really should've been in the other one (Panthers 2016). But at least it's about Panthers...... and it even managed to get some responses that were actually on topic Not that much fog has been lifted
-
nothing personal; just wish people would stop adding to the cr4p. It's a Panthers thread and there's plenty to discuss ON topic. I'm curious to know whether Panthers could actually have ridden tonight (Friday). Don't Monarch's already have a meeting? Or was a double-header being mooted by the Edinburgh club? Or maybe a fixture swap, with Monarchs v Somerset being shifted to a later, post-deadline date? But would Somerset and/or Monarchs be happy with that? I doubt it, what with it also doubling up as the 2nd leg the of the Prem Shield and a trophy at stake. The BSPA would never sanctionit anyway! Ged Rathbone has said that Friday would mean Panthers being without FOUR riders who would be away on 'international duty'. Not sure what that means exactly, or which four riders he was talking about. K.Bjerre seems to the the key rider that would be missing, but somebody has claimed that he's only got a commitment in Europe on Sunday - so if that's the case surely he'd be ok to ride on Friday? (Then again, this is Kenneth Bjerre we're talking about....) And is Holub one of them, and does he genuinely have a clash on Friday? Ged has also said that Panthers wouldn't get a facility. Does he mean no facility for all four - in which case R/R wouldn't work - or just for KB? And how come Somerset can have four guest riders lined up for their Friday meeting at Edinburgh, and Panthers can't? Is Ged being a tad economic with the truth, or am I showing my ignorance about the arcane BSPA rules? Looking forward to some interesting and enlightening replies..... p.s. and exactly WHY couldn't Monarchs have slotted it in for Monday?

Spot on. Get the 1-7 right and let 'team spirit' sort itself out. Anyway, half the time riders don't even know if their team is winning or not, and it comes across when they get interviewed during a meeting. Only last week at the EoES a Rockets rider said he hadn't realised that they're bottom of the league (which they were at the time). But I bet he could reel off every point single he's scored himself. -
and so the inane drivel continues......
-
Light-hearted banter is one thing; page after page of inane drivel is quite another.

I agree with your comments about that KKS knob with his stupid wind-up posts on here. And you're right, if people stopped biting he'd stop eventually. Every time I click on a Panthers thread hoping to find something enlightening or interesting, page after page is full of inane cr4p. In any case, KKS's antics don't excuse the handful of similar knobs who are constantly having snidey little pops at Panthers. We're all in it together........ aren't we?

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Panthers. Word to the wise though: you post sounds like it was written by a giddy youngster who can't resist telling everybody that he was in the posh hospitality area and spent most of the evening rubbing shoulders with some speedway 'celebs'. -

Yes, yes, I know. But I was referring to Friday HOME meetings. That was the issue that the BSPA (MC) were claiming was the problem. Or at least Godfrey was. There have always been, and always will be, clashes when away meetings take place. That applies to every team, not just Panthers. following on from my reply to Dazpanther: Godfrey may well have been right when he said that the MC "don't like" riders to double up with teams who have the same nominated race day (not that there's an actual rule covering it though!). And he was pointing at the fact that both BV and Panthers had nominated Friday. So the issue was based on how many of Panthers' HOME meetings would clash with BV's HOME meetings. And the answer to that was always THREE meetings. Fri 17 June (Panthers v Scun ; BV v Wolves) Fri 15 July (Panthers v Berwick - BV v Leic) Fri 2 Sep (Panthers v Worky ; BV v Cov) Note, by the way, that Panthers HOME meeting on 29 Aug (Bank Hol Mon) is down to start at 7.30pm, so there's no clash with BV's meeting with Poole, 12pm start. It's true that Panthers also have some AWAY meeting that will clash with BV's fixtures: Mon 30 May Scun v Panthers / Panthers v Ippo BV v Cov (note that the KO times mean that Cook would only need to miss the meeting away at Scun) Thurs 21July Ippo v Panthers Swindon v BV Fri 5 Aug Somerset v Panthers Lakeside v BV But, like I said before, they were never anything to do with the reason given by the BSPA (MC) for refusing to ratify Cook's signing. How could it be?! Given that we have riders doubling up - and that's another argument! - it's simply not possible to legislate for every day of the week when teams race on different days. They'd ALL get blocked in that case! Anyway, it's all done & dusted now that Panthers have changed to Sunday as their nominated race-day, and now that they're rearranging some meetings so that there's only one Friday home where there will be a clash with BV. -

Erm... point of order! Maneacat was quite correct when she used "clash" (singular) because, according to Ged's latest announcement, there will now be only ONE Friday home meeting where there will be a clash with Belle Views fixtures. You're probably right. I saw that comment by the Scunthorpe "track-sitter", but it's not showing on Panthers fixture list (yet) -

ok, ok..... but let's have it right. Ged, and Cookie himself, always said it's just THREE Friday home meetings he would've had to miss. And despite some people on here trying to make out it's seven (or more) Ged & Cookie were absolutely correct: Fri 17 June (Panthers v Scun ; BV v Wolves) Fri 15 July (Panthers v Berwick - BV v Leic) Fri 2 Sep (Panthers v Worky ; BV v Cov) According to Ged's latest announcement it's now just one. Presumably two of the above will be, or have been, rearranged. And hopefully K.Hansen will be available for that home meeting Cook will miss. Problem solved! -

in an ideal world, yes. These days the situation Panthers are faced with is akin to doing a jigsaw puzzle where the pieces just never fit no matter how they twist and turn them around. By the way, the crowd last Sunday seemed pretty decent; way over 1000 for sure. He looked impressive during those post-meeting laps on Sunday. me too. -

"gypsy site" ? It's always been a pointless exercise as far as Panthers are concerned. (well, it has been ever since the new regime took over at the Showground) -

yes, we've always banged on about having a regular race night - but we've also understood the logistical problems the club faces with the Showground. Your analogy is flawed; the situation at Rye House is totally different. And irrelevant. -

We know that! And everybody at Panthers wishes we could have a regular race night. But it simply ain't possible because of the way things are at the EoES. -

it's not in the news section (typical of Panthers pi55poor communcation ) but it's listed as OFF in the fixtures section. The Edinburgh and Glasgow tracks aren't <30 miles apart either. Neither are Wolves-Bham, or Bham-Cov. Anyway, it's totally irrelevant to the current Panthers issue.
