  1. NKI on asset system: King's Lynn Stars number one Niels-Kristian Iversen has called for a change to speedway's asset system. The 30-year-old has been cleared by the sport's governing body to join the Stars on loan, despite protestations by parent club Peterborough Panthers. "At the end of the day everybody rides where they want to ride," he told BBC Radio Norfolk. "It's down to the regulations and I think they will have to look into it in the future." Iversen has spent the last two seasons on loan at the Norfolk Arena, but the Panthers were refusing to allow the Dane a third spell because of what they perceived as an illegal approach from their Elite League rivals. But the British Speedway Promoters' Association have enabled Iversen to make the temporary move, a decision the Panthers launched a failed appeal against. "It shouldn't be that much of a problem," said Iversen. "It's like a storm in a glass of water. It creates so many problems. "It's good to have everything under control. It's been taking some time with the problems with Peterborough. "It's always annoying when things have to drag out like that but it's nice to have it done."
  2. Thanks for the link. Speedway bikes rely on engine braking - would this be a issue for electric powered speedway bikes?
  3. Maybe because teams who are only loaning riders are in a better position to offer a better package to the riders.
  4. You could always get those things you fasten to the forks that go in between the spokes - that sounds great! I had one of those on my push-bike when I was a kid! Not sure how you deal with the smell though!!
  5. Yep, I was tarred with that brush. The obsession from some is incredible!!!
  6. I very much doubt that. You can't just make a loss every year just to avoid tax. It leads to access to finance drying up and suppliers not supporting you. Worrying situation.
  7. Perhaps he has decided you cant beat 'em so you might as well join 'em!!
  8. Well at least it's your decision to make rather than some committee, made up of househunters who may or may not have an interest in buying or renting your house!
  9. I don't think you will like it as much when you move up to senior school!!
  10. Does that mean the BSPA have got things right then following the AGM, in terms of team building and team strengths?
  11. Sounds like a great line-up so far and an exciting race format. I like Freddie so hope to get to this meeting. Bit disappointing that your surname has to end in 'N' to be included in the line-up!!!
  12. Freddie is on BikerFM next Tuesday: http://www.wolverhamptonwolves.co/news.php?extend.1651
  13. Agree but you can't have a situation where assets become worthless overnight just because a particular system is not working. If I told my bank manager that the assets valued in my last audited accounts were worth £100K and now were worthless I doubt I would be getting support from him and he would be advising me to close the business. The bigger picture needs to be looked at hear otherwise............... And on the subject of the sport being a joke, I would rather outsiders think that and the sport can continue on a sustainable financial basis if the alternative is the sport becomes dead in this country. I just couldn't bear to think of that happening to speedway in this country.
  14. We have Peterborough in dispute with KL and also Swindon. Coventry in dispute with Birmingham. I don't believe for one minute that these promotions/people want to be in a dispute with each other but it is a result of the situations they find themselves in. I really hope all the parties can come to an amicable agreement and we get on with the racing in March. Really don't want to lose NKI, Troy, Hans & BB to the EL.
  15. It would be lovely if that was the easy answer but I am afraid it isn't. My company sponsored a fairly prominent rider up to 2 years ago we can no longer afford to do it and I would say that would be the case for 95% of companies in this economic climate. Yes, sponsorship should be chased as a main prospect for more revenue but it isn't going to be as easy as you suggest. Most promoters I have spoken to over the last few years have seen a reduction in sponsorship revenue.
  16. I think what is happening in speedway is what has been going on in business world generally for a few years. The money has run out and speedway teams are operating financially on a day to day basis. Some teams need to 'offload' assets (riders) other teams cant afford to operate unless its on a 'loan' basis so we come to an impasse. Banks are not willing to lend so where do you go from here? As much as we can criticise promotions, if you haven't got the money to buy a rider you just cant do it. And why would you with the present situation. I think some of the rantings we are hearing from promoters/promotions are borne out or sheer desperation with not having a financial solution to the problem. I am a businessman and I really don't see where the sport goes from here!

  19. Newcastle Speedway is the best in my opinion.
