Witches V Devils ( Pl ) 22-8-13
TesarRacing replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Does anyone have team line-ups? I see Siggy is going to be there. -
Ha-ha. You're a card!!

Sorry for taking the thread off-topic! Good win for the Witches - maybe Redcar were not that awful but Ipswich were just sublime! What were the race times?
-
Can't believe that Sanders has hijacked an Ipswich v Redcar thread.......

Defo right there GC!!

Maybe ignorance was bliss then. I just remember standing on the terraces amongst pretty large crowds not knowing the rule book. Not knowing which promotions were doing what, where and how every minute of the day but just enjoying my speedway immensely.

I am 'bumping' this question up as I think, getting back to the original topic title, this is a good question. I don't know the answer and I would be interested to hear responses. Apologies it it has been answered somewhere in the 5 pages of arguing!!!
-
Just to add to that. The only time it would be useful knowing the rule book a bit better would be to maximise my fantasy speedway teams!!!
-
That's how I see it too.

I have been watching/supporting speedway for 41 years and i take a very simplistic views on the speedway rule book. To enjoy a speedway meeting I feel I need to know the rules that are specific to the running of the meeting itself. The rest of the rule book regarding the use of guests, points limits, averages, etc etc, I don't need to know as I don't see how it improves the experience of watching & supporting speedway. In fact, I think knowing too much of what a promotion/team manager can and can't do spoils the spectacle and maybe the use of forums and social networking sites have contributed to this.

Martin is back!!! Great news: http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.2397

Exactly what do you mean by 'open'? Mick Horton held a fans forum at Coventry at a time when the supporters were very critical of the promotion - quite a brave thing to do! By all accounts he came across very well but people still complain. Maybe he will think twice in future!
-
I realise that Skidder but I was responding to the comment "There must be some one with the money to buy Brandon and return the Bees to a champion winning side" which seemed to be suggesting someone buys the stadium and runs the speedway and maybe other events.
-
Net worth of Coventry Stadium Ltd as at 31/12/11 was £8.74m. I know that was 18 months ago and a company is only worth what prospective buyers are prepared to pay for it but that is quite a difference. Maybe it is discounted down to £1m for pensioners!!
-
I am sure there are plenty of people out there with £8 million but whether they would be prepared to buy a motorsport facility and more than likely, loss-making sports clubs/teams is another matter. Other than tax avoidance, doesn't make much sense.

Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.
TesarRacing replied to Stephen7's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This is my first year of subscription to Sky (Feb 2013) mainly for the speedway and I must say I have not been disappointed. The quality of the HD broadcast along with the various camera angles is excellent. The slow motion shots of all the motorsport channels is also very good. I don't have a big problem with the commentary team, I guess whoever they had in place we would criticise in varying degrees. Agree with what has been said regarding Sophie Blake - very professional. -
Who is suffering from UK-itis!!
