There is no wrongs and rights of it. Whether we like it or not speedway is an expensive sport and I can't see many ways of reducing the costs significantly, unfortunately. Therefore, it's no good calling it a £10 sport when the expenses far exceed that cost. Yes, economies of scale regarding attendances would make a big difference but I don't believe they are there to win back easily, as you have alluded to.

Just because there are a lot of them doesn't make them right!

I pay £11 to watch my local non-league football team and these lads might be on around £200 a week if lucky. When you compare that to £16 or £17 to watch top league speedway racing at the costs involved in the sport these days it doesn't sound so bad to me.

I must admit I wouldn't be so bold as to say Darcy will never be WC but for me it's not his gating that is his Achilles heel. Some of the moves he pulls off are truly audacious and that leads to crashes unfortunately. Maybe as he matures he will back off slightly - but then he won't be the Darcy Ward we all know!
