6 Of The 15 Gp In El Next Season
TesarRacing replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Gavan, now you are not contributing to a Poole thread you make a lot of sense! I agree with you - I reckon we could see some good racing this year. Just a pity Peterborough are not there to mix it!! -
Good idea - it's always good to get a result beyond Heat 10!!!

Funny old breed us speedway supporters. We bemoan the fact that the sport needs to change and address the problems facing it. The governing body makes some significant changes for this year, which I think are going to be good for the sport and hopefully make it more exciting. There will be teething problems of course and things to sort out but if you want changes you have got to live with that. Now everyone seems to have a problem that the format is not in the public domain yet!!!

Interesting article from a different slant. I wasn't aware of his fitness regime throughout 2013 and I am sure this had a lot to do with his success last year especially his recoveries from the injuries. Thanks for putting this on the forum.

The Coventry B team (aka Brummies) did ok last year. Not many people said that!!! -
Agree with that Blu. In particular if, as you say, the team stays injury free and Ty can hit the ground running, I reckon Wolves will be there at the sharp end!!

It's funny but not sure if it's a myth or because it is a very small sample size but I have had a number Polish guys working for me over the years and none of them have ever supported speedway and most have never heard of Tomasz Gollob! -
Is that alllowed on the terraces?

Apart from 3 or 4 reserves I believe it is impossible to say how the reserves will fare in the EL so I don't share your pessimism.

Five More Years Of El Speedway On Sky
TesarRacing replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
SKY SPORTS will show exclusively live coverage of the speedway’s Elite League, the highest level of competition in the UK, for the next five years thanks to a new deal announced today. The new agreement made with the British Speedway Promoters Association means Sky Sports viewers will be able to watch live coverage of speedway’s Elite League through the summer months, and every season until 2019. The agreement made with the BSPA comprises of a minimum 25 meetings a year through the summer from March to October featuring the 10 teams from the League starting with the Elite Riders Championship at Coventry on Friday 21 March featuring Great Britain’s very own 2013 World Speedway Champion from Wolverhampton Tai Woffinden competing against some of the top riders in World Speedway. The deal also includes exclusively live coverage of the Premier League plus other selected individual events. Speaking about the deal Alex Harkess, Chairman of the BSPA, said: “This is great news for speedway. Sky Sports has helped raise the profile of the sport with their high production standards, and being shown on their channels means British Speedway has the best possible home to enable us to reach our passionate fans as well as appeal to new ones.” Coverage of Speedway is presented by former GB Captain and World long track champion Kelvin Tatum with commentary Nigel Pearson and studio analysts former GP rider Chris Louis and former Speedway World Champion Sam Ermolenko. Charlie Webster returns as pit-lane reporter. Speedway is one of over 30 different sports to be shown across Sky Sports’ six channels, and coverage will be available to Sky subscribers live via mobile and tablet devices. -
No negativity from me - great news!!!

The more I look at the Swindon team and now most teams are complete, the more I like it! If he rides at 3, Nick will find it tough but it could also bring him on as a more accomplished rider. I can quite easily see that top 5 improving their averages. I still think Batchelor has not reached his full potential yet.

Fully agree WK - totally unnecessary comments!

So now it seems to be settled with Nick Morris stopping at Blunsdon - what do you guys think he can average this coming season? I think this could be a big year for the lad.
-
Exactly right Skidder. Too much hysteria on here I fear!! I think you are going to have to keep repeating yourself!!!
-
Make sure she is getting the right price for it then as scrap metal is fetching top prices at the moment!!

In your opinion - I thought he spoke a lot of sense.

Good post. I think it is impossible to quantify how Sky has affected speedway in the UK since it has been televising it as you say, it was in decline before Sky came on the scene. My personal view and it is a guess, is that may well have been finished as a league sport in this country by now without Sky. I have some mates that are MotoGP/roadracing fans and they started watching speedway on the TV about 10 years ago and are now regular viewers and also go to Brandon 7 or 8 times a season and they see the sport as very exciting. They came with me to watch it a few times many years ago but it took the regular viewing on the TV to get them hooked. Perhaps we underestimate this element of it being live on TV?
