You can't just charge £10 without changing something else it would be financial suicide. If you do the maths you would have to 'let' a hell of a lot of supporters in at £10 and what ever you say about Alan Phillips regarding promoting speedway, he knows a bit about finance and he knew the supporters would not attend. Surely he would have done it otherwise rather than closing down.

Good points but you missed the most important one in your last sentence. You can't ask promoters to charge £10 when their costs are £15. In fact they are not £15 they are more because most are making a loss.

Exactly what I was alluding to. It aint a £10 sport but there is definitely something wrong the product. Or maybe, sometimes you just have to admit that perhaps the sport has run it's course and there isn't the support there anymore. I had to close down one of my businesses a few years ago for just that reason.

That was a good post till you got to the £10 bit. I would like to buy a £15k Ford Focus for £10k but I don't think Ford will sell me one. Do you really think if Birmingham had been charging £10 this season they would have got the support to keep them going. Unless you address the costs in speedway it is never going to be a £10 sport and even then I doubt it would be viable. I think the only way forward is accepting that the current level of attendance is going to be the norm, improve the product to make it more slicker and then operate within that cost frame.

What can any new promotion do to get the supporters through the turnstiles though - I thought that was the biggest issue. Unless that can be addressed surely it's not a viable proposition.

Is it his money or the money that the club makes being reinvested back into the business?

And how are promotions going to finance squad systems when most can't make ends meet now. No way will it be cheaper.

I don't see how the sport can be criticised for the guest situation. Both Poole & KL have suffered terrible injuries to riders this season.

Good honest straight talking from Rosco on his riders this season. From a neutral, its hard to be critical of the team this season as the Robins had a really great year and would almost definitely been in the play-off final if the weather/track had not been so awful.

I have a question for you Starry, if Poole manage to get the meeting on tonight or tomorrow night but in similar conditions to the Swindon V Coventry 2nd leg, will you admit it was the hole in the track that caused the postponement and not a waterlogged track?

I don't think the guest situation is as crazy as many supporters are stating. Guest bookings have been around as long as I have been going to speedway so it is not unusual. It just so happens that both teams contesting this semi-final have had a lot of injuries. You can't compare speedway with other sports as the other sports don't have such a facility. Does seem to be a lot of paranoia around!

That's just what I said in an earlier post, the meeting was cancelled due to the hole so what has been done about that to allow the meeting to go ahead?

How many meetings have you watched with the 2 Coventry reserves? Although I agree Garrity has the tendency to over-ride, he has not thrown away many points. Sarjeant has definitely come good just at the right time for Coventry but I would still put Garrity as the best of the 2 reserves by some margin.

The weather wasn't the issue though we were told, so has the hole been fixed otherwise what has changed?
