I'd be interested to hear some views on my idea of a Speedway Ambassador Scheme http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=74957&view=getnewpost
-
Each club should elect 2 or 3 fans through a system of votes to stand as their local volunteer ambassador. Volunteers could nominate themselves and fans could vote for their preferred nominated candidates. Volunteers should have no affiliation with their club's promotion or management. These ambassadors can then schedule regular conferences using free software like Skype. This could be as often as once a week. This will allow judgements and decisions to be made on a truly impartial basis by the fans of the sport itself. Any issues that arise can be discussed without the influence of the riders, promoters or managers. There will obviously be issues that are not suitable for this kind of panel, however the majority of issues and concerns such as unusual postponements, assessed averages and allegations of cheating could be addressed much better this way. It would also give the fans a real chance to make their thoughts and feelings heard by communicating with the club ambassador who could present these views and concerns during ambassador conferences. Voila. A truly impartial, completely free of charge, independent speedway panel. Any thoughts? Or does this make too much sense to work?

I am dissapointed to see my post has been removed. The last thing speedway needs while it remains in this god awful state is censorship of the fans who are entitled as paying customers to speak their mind. The points I made yesterday are hard facts and it's exactly this "brush under the carpet" attitude that has gotten the sport into this mess to begin with. Absolutely appalling British Speedway Forum.

Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final
Tom Turner replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well I can assure you I am indeed a fan. To be honest, I just cannot afford it. I work hard, I pay a lot of bills, and £67 to take the family out is the difference between us eating food this week and not. Without people like me then Sky would have no reason to show speedway and no reason to sponsor the Elite League. -
Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final
Tom Turner replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agreed. Why is it the obvious answers are never good enough... It is obvious there isn't nearly enough young people getting interested in speedway so why rob the few that already attend? If you made it free until 18 not only would you get much bigger crowds but you'll also get a lot of paying adults in a few years time. But no, we charge them instead and wonder why speedway is on the decline. I wouldn't attend a play off final for any more than £15. It should be cheaper in the play offs, not more expensive. Instead, I will sit at home and watch it on Sky as it won't cost me any extra, I won't need a programme, I'll get free commentary and multiple angles and replays. -
There is nobody to blame but the promoters.

I'm a Poole fan but i'm under no illusion when it comes to Matt Ford's tactics. It seems quite clear to me that Matt didn't believe the Pirates would make it through to the final and made this press statement purely to try and bolster ticket sales last Monday. I wouldn't pay much attention.

Kennett need's to take a step back and decide if a career as a speedway rider is for him. He has been long stuck in a rut and he has been caught cheating in multiple sports. His attitude and commitment isn't right if you ask me. But on a positive note, I still remember this as one of the best races I've ever seen at Poole: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcBiENaVM44

Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final
Tom Turner replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As much as I desperately want to see the Pirates put on another brilliant display like last night over the next 2 legs, I cannot help but wonder if the same incentive will be there to win... Excuse me for being a cynic but I cannot help but feel that the financial incentive of a grand final at Poole may of influenced the Pirate's pay roll last night. Now that there is no further money to be made after the 1st leg I cannot see the Pirate's being paid quite as much as last night some how. I'll await the attack from my fellow Pirate fans! -
Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg
Tom Turner replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well after a brilliant night of celebrations I have wound down my gloating I was looking forward to rubbing it in to all the Swindon fan's out there but you have all been most gracious in defeat and my hats off to you. Not only Swindon but to all the fans across the UK who have all come together to appreciate the true spirit of speedway. Say what you like about Matt Ford, say what you like about the play offs and say what you like about double points, but you cannot deny rivalry has never been so exciting in British speedway. Even stevebrum who was one of the first to congratulate us on our victory! I had always said since Swindon picked us that we were capable of beating them over 2 legs but I never really expected such a brilliant effort from the Pirates. -

Of course Middlo doesn't scout foreign talent. That's not his job. He's team manager, not head hunter! That is (evil head wizard) Matt Ford's job, which clearly he is doing a lot better than most And in regards to Team GB... no offence to our guys but there is hardly a lot of decent talent out there to choose from is there... The best team manager in the world couldn't of saved Team GB. -

Right... Pirate's will win at home by 12 and away by 2. Fortunately for us Perry Barr is a lovely wide track and is quite similar to Poole. -
AP Media is an absolutely awful web designer. Their designs are absolute rubbish, out of date, bland and featureless. Good riddance

It was all over when Rosco chose to race at home first! Swindon were more than capable of winning but their complacency bit them in the arse. -

What a load of rubbish. There was a cheer when Kildemand went down (through lack of control) and was cleary uninjured. No head hanging here, just the clanking of pint glasses. -

Well thanks to the arrogance of fans, riders and promoters alike writing Poole off so early on it's hard not to. -

Are you for real? Hancock is a master in his sport and he shows this in his track craft. -
After an extraordinary come back from a 10 point defeat at Swindon the Poole Pirates have shown that the Swindon Robins are all roar and no bite as they brushed away the confident Robins with ease! Poole Pirates just edge out the Birmingham Brummies if you ask me but sure to be a couple of close matches. Both teams will be relying on the tail end to put in the points when it matters. Many said either Poole or Swindon would be overall winners. So is Poole set to win it for 2013 or will the Brummies be able to pull back a possibly 10 point lead next week...
