Yeah, you're right. Nail on the head there! There are no plans and there is nothing on the way. -

No, that isn't what I said at all. I said Sky Sports control the rights to recorded speedway. Any use of recorded speedway outside of contract would need to be approved by Sky first, which can take weeks or even months to make it through their operating procedures and even then they are likely to refuse permission for some reason. If it weren't for their deal with Sky, there would be no money entering the sport from television rights and it would be sorely missed. I also have no idea why you think this is the exclusive work of Terry Russell? I know you might not like the situation, but unfortunately that's just the way it has to be. Speedway isn't exactly a sport with broadcasters lining up to put a deal on the table. It isn't a case of Go Speed recklessly throwing around rights, it isn't the case that somebody at the top of the chain is trying to destroy the sport by crippling it's public exposure, it's merely a case of protecting very valuable and fragile broadcasting deals that are worth much more than one night's exposure at some event. Like I said, I cannot say with any certainty that this is what happened, but it is the most likely explaination and my facts are correct. Take it or leave it. -

Wrong. You've no idea what you're talking about. Sky Sports control all rights to all forms of recorded British League Speedway in the UK and they will continue to do so until at least 2018. And yes, that independently recorded footage is still governed by the broadcaster as part of their contract. GoSpeed own the rights and Sky Sports control the rights as part of their contract. -

You'll probably find it comes very much down to TV rights. TV rights net the biggest profits for Speedway and those deals do not come without big contracts. These contracts normally cover a vast amount more than simply the rights to broadcast the program as the broadcaster will want to retain the majority of rights to all forms of recorded speedway. The broadcaster will then divulge the rights to third party companies at their discretion. When you deal with big broadcasters it can often take weeks or months to come to an arrangement. Often the broadcaster will refuse these things, for no apparent reason, simply to protect their brand and rights. I can't say this is for sure the reason, but I can say that there are many people working very long hours behind the scenes to take care of this sport and it is not likely they would ever refuse something like this just for the sake of it. -

Because maintaining and SEO'ing one website is relatively easy. Developing and managing an online presence for a national sport with multiple websites and clubs, all relating to seperate clubs, and all affected by terms set out by various different rights holders is a much bigger project. It is certainly not a one man job and is not even comparable to SEO'ing a personal website and social media account. -
I disagree entirely. Peterborough was very sadly no longer financially viable and it cannot be expected for them to continue with losses. Their sponsorship of the Pirates is on the condition that Matt Ford will help expand their business in our area and if this proves fruitful will only benefit their future endeavours within British speedway.

Negativity isn't going to help anything. All I can say is that I believe Go Speed have the best interests of British Speedway at heart and it's not always as clear cut as it seems. It's not always as clear as it seems. All I can say for sure is that these problems are not falling on deaf ears and the support of existing fans will go a long way in maximising impact. -
Haha! Dream on!

That's why he rides for Poole

Social Media For Speedway Teams

Well first of all it isn't just a few facebook pages. Maintaining a social media presence for an entire sport is very much a full time job for several people and that money has to come from somewhere. It's not just the staff that need paying, there are several other aspects that need to be financially accounted for as well. It's all very easy to sit back and say do this, do that, but there is very much more to it than that. There is much more in the pipeline than just social media and a lot of it has been ongoing for many months. Unfortunately there are a lot of individuals and companies out there with their fingers in the speedway pie and a lot of these things cannot progress until they have all given their nod. It's a gruelling procedure but the ball is moving. Just bear with them a little longer and I am sure you will be pleased with outcome. -

And that's exactly what they are doing. There is far more in the works than simply a few facebook pages! These things will take a little time because there is only so much man power available to them. The right people are moving in to the right places and these things will start to take off. -

The guys at Go Speed know that they are lagging behind and they are commited to playing catch up. There are some really exciting things planned for this season that will address a lot of these issues. These things won't happen overnight though and will take a couple of seasons to roll out, but they are on their way. -

These things will all change in 2015. -
Some good performances from Rohan Tungate recently.

You obviously missed the rest of the thread as well. If you had taken the time to actually read who and what I was replying to, rather than just spouting nonsense, you will have seen I was replying to the poster who said Switzerland was in the EU.
-
A trial is to determine whether somebody has broken the law or rules. Until then they are innocent until proven guilty. Could you imagine the country we'd live in if people could be punished without a trial?
-
Switzerland is not in the EU.
-
Haha, some people might agree that Aussies are not entirely human! I would of thought if there is any EU legislation that might offer him some form of protection, it might be applicable because the place of work is in Europe? Otherwise surely we could circumvent minimum wage and working hours just by placing an office in China?
-
Fair point SCB, I hadn't even thought of that! I wonder if the fact that he has a permit to work in the EU might allow him some form of European protection? I know the EU and Switzerland are very closely linked on EU working matters. I would have thought the legislation would apply to the place of work, which is of course in the EU, rather than this place of citizenship.

Well considering Matt Ford and Darcy Ward were in the paper complaining about the long wait, I doubt very much it has anything to do with Darcy. But don't let facts get in the way of a good dig at Darcy, aye? Silly comment really. It doesn't matter that Darcy broke the rules. The court hearing is there to attribute guilt and punishment. It is only fair that the hearing is made in a timely matter. Imagine the world we would live in if we all took that attitude?
-
If that's true then it's bang out of order. I hope Darcy takes them to the European Court of Human Rights as he is being stopped from seeking employment.
-
Nope, why would they do something like that?
-
I've got every faith that Matt Ford will put out a winning team in 2015. Roll in 2015, going to be a very exciting year! I know for a fact that the powers that be are working on some exciting new plans for the 2015 season, that if all goes to plan, should bring a long overdue boost to British speedway.

Interesting to see the line up this year. Chris Holder wouldn't of been my first choice. I'd rather of had Magic than Chris. Chris seem's to have lost his racing edge after so many injuries and a new son to take care of. I'm not entirely convinced we will ever see the best of Chris again. Dakota North is a risky signing. I will reserve comment for now. Davey Watt was the biggest shock in my opinion. He's a solid guy and has put in some stunning performances for the Pirates in the past. He is a very experienced British league rider and he usually flourishes when riding on the Poole track. If he can find some form at home he could easily put another 2 onto his average. Could prove to be a very important rider for us this season. Paul Starke is not a rider I have seen much of. Kyle Newman, although pitted against other ftr riders last year, did appear to be looking the part. He is very confident and his commitment is solid. I would expect a similar year from him and hope he is looking to stamp his authority over other ftr riders. I hope Darcy ward will recieve a grand prix ban and will be allowed to continue league racing. I do not think he deserves a more severe punishment and I can't imagine that if I were in his situation I would ever do something so stupid again. If not, I would like to see Magic back in his place. I do not particuarly want Walasek back in the team. Although I appreciate he has been a good rider for Poole in the past and he has shown some good form on the continent, I am not convinced that he will be very commited to our side.
