  1. With regards to stoke being off again, I haven't been there for a lot of years but does someone sneeze on the track and its off, or is there a deeper problem with the place? I know they've had many vandalism issues in the past.
  2. An excellent victory against poor opposition, but then again you can only beat what's put in front. I think now rather than looking over our shoulder we are closing in on the teams above us. Peterborough have lost 3 at home and look decidedly ropey at the moment. 4 points at Redcar next week would really put a puma amongst the pigeons. Win what we have to and let Newcastle worry about their fixture pile up. By my reckoning they have 10 fixtures to fit in in just under a month. As long as it doesn't effect our fixtures against them, then pressure on man and machine for them could backfire as they try to squeeze in fixtures before the cut off date.
  3. According to Newcastle's website they have 8 remaining fixtures but have only ridden 13 meetings. Either I'm missing something if they are going to miss the cut off.
  4. Again this could be a valuable point if we can pick up another one tommorow.
  5. This is one meeting where we expect to get slapped but as sharpen rake says we have got men who can ride Glasgow. I actually think just 2 points (of course we want more) from both meetings over the weekend will be a bonus.
  6. If we place a fat lady in the doorway it won't slam shut.
  7. Yes it was rubbish baldy but it's 3 points in the bag and up into the play off positions and that's what matters. Anyway I think you'll find Workington are missing Jenson on Saturday with an NL rider stepping in as well, so it may well even things up. If we get stuffed over the weekend then fair enough, but I think it's worth pointing out that we've given ourselves a real fighting chance. If we miss out on the play offs by a couple of points, then lets leave the recriminations till the end of the season, but not while we still have a chance. Let's face it our seven riders know it's in their hands.
  8. Hopefully another decent home win and follow it up with some points on the road at the weekend.
  9. These 2 points could be vital come the end of the season.
  10. Superb win against a poor Plymouth side. We just to take advantage at Sheffield next week and we could be on the coat tails of the play offs.
  11. However the forecast does seem to be aaone of those where they are not entirely sure how and where the rain will fall.
  12. We need our top five to be on song for this one. Lanham at reserve for Plymouth could be tricky for us.
  13. I noticed Berwick have signed Dawid stachrya. Is he our asset or pooles?
  14. It comes back to those fundamental issues about how the club is run, and clearly there are issues. For most of us 'natives' it is easy to be blinkered but perhaps just perhaps an outsider could bring some sense to the situation. I don't doubt the current promotions frustration with what's going on but sometimes it needs outside input to push it forward.
  15. Perhaps last night was a one off I don't know, but maybe he got his set up right. Whatever it was it certainly got the crowd going. Not just during the meeting but also in practice afterwards he looked quick. Presumably he is better on slightly bigger and less technical tracks.
  16. I asked the question on the Ipswich thread about where Ayres is from. As I understand it he come from motocross. Now I know he's not a youngster, and his performance earlier in the season here with Glasgow wasn't great, apart from heat 2. But it begs the question why wasn't he on our radar. I assume Glasgow were sniffing around whilst he was riding for Kent, but when it comes to scouting where are our management, in the toilet? Now I know with one performance from a guest rider and a good win and we all get carried away, but for a tall rider he looked reasonably quick and his style was smooth, not to mention his enthusiasm. Perhaps the same could be said for Ashley Morris. He looked quicker than when he rode for us, did we coat his tyres in treacle? Anyway back to tonight and a thoroughly deserved win with all playing their part. Onwards and upwards hopefully!
  17. Not sure how to call this one, if betting on speedway was big then we'd be a bookies nightmare.
  18. If he is that local how come he fell off our radar, presumably he wasn't on it in the first place.
  19. Where is Danny Ayres based? Presumably up north somewhere. Could we not use someone from Mildenhall? Mind you Ayres is worth the entertainment value.
  20. I sat on the third bend at mildenhall today and yes the pa was excellent. And yes also covered in a multitude of bugs! I think that in the past mildenhall has put me off due to over running meetings that require the following day off work. However I have to say that today's meeting ran well and although the blue line was in evidence they kept the track in good Nick.
