  1. 1.boo 2.boo 3.barley 4.mcgrew 5.Cuthbert 6.dibble 7.grub It's probably what will be left when all the other promoters have picked their riders😅
  2. It'll be like the leftovers at a closing down sale.😅
  3. The last three team managers,Messrs smillie Simmonds and Hilton all made glaring tactical errors. I seem to remember a number of years ago, Coventry were dead n buried until a Hancock lead 8-1 steered the bee's to victory. Everyone in the stadium could see it apart from the TM. In any case if someone suitable can't be found why can't CL or JL do it.
  4. I suspect we will all be surprised by one or two of the signings. The problem is that when we sign a new rider, their form suddenly nosedives.
  5. Well said hkp. I'd like to see a back to basics approach. Maximum 2 or 3 foreigners in each side, although I think most accept that this wouldn't happen overnight. Standardized equipment, having said that wasn't the Honda experiment at Sheffield a few years ago a disaster. As I understand it isn't ermolenko working on a new machine.
  6. Whilst I accept they may not be in a Huge profit.losing money year on year will not keep you in business. In 1996 we had save our speedway, what happened to that? The lower end riders earn bugger all. The top end riders in the premier league can't earn a great deal either.
  7. @Hong Kong Businesses do not survive on passion.these days whether we like it or not you are there to generate a profit.
  8. The question I would ask is.If the club has been struggling financially for years then why does it keep going. If smaller clubs can keep going on much smaller gates than us then what is the problem. Ok some may not pay any or not much stadium rent but surely they still have other costs the same as Ipswich. I just don't buy all this financial struggle s cobblers! If you're business had been losing money for years would it still be running I doubt it! I think the promotion know that the gullible 800 to say 1000 of us that turn up every week will continue to do so because of our love of the sport. The promotion puts out a crap team, we moan but they are still taking plenty of dosh on the gate. To add insult to injury you buy a season ticket that is usually not valid for at least 4 meetings a season. But they know we will continue to turn up each week.
  9. We all know the state of play now with Ipswich team building. On paper we always get a silk purse rather than a sows ear. The problem is that 3 months into the new season, we discover the silk purse is fake!
  10. Presumably speedway stills generates considerable coffers for spedeworth not just in stadium rent but food and drink sales. And I guess that if they replaced speedway with extra stock car meetings they wouldn't get that extra rent. Also I guess that not every stock car meeting is full to the rafters just the big events.
  11. Reserves with 23 point averages I'm up for that 😀
  12. Do the promoters conclude the second part of their jolly this week?
  13. Sorry the button stuck. But yes I m sure you'll one or two good riders in that list.
  14. As I stated previously on this thread we should go for unknown Swedes or Danes. Jenson when he was at Peterborough or like Jacobson at Rye.we never seem to want to try that route.
  15. I can only presume they don't have a good business plan or are poorly advised. You never see speedway advertised only in speedway media.
  16. I guess it's always the old addage of a professional sport run by amateurs.
  17. You are probably right. But if your business is going down the toilet wouldn't you change the way you do things. Regional leagues with less travel has surely got to be the way forward to cut costs. 6 man teams with 32 point total average has to be the way forward. Not because I want to see a weaker product. But because the sport needs a serious reboot. As I stated earlier how on earth do the likes of Scunthorpe and Berwick survive if nothing changes. They both threatened to pull the plug. So presumably both promotions are satisfied that nothing has changed and will carry on haemorrhageing money until they fold.
  18. Another year of golden opportunity missed to rebuild the sport from the bottom up.if a number of teams struggled this year, how is that going to change with the same format next year. It's a bit like making a flat loaf of bread as you have forgot to add the yeast. But on the next attempt you forget the yeast and think that sugar is a better option!
