  1. What a great suggestion. How about Rye House entering the Polish league, I would guess the Polish would love to have access to all the polish people in England, afterall there has been mutterings about a European League for some years. What could the BSPA do, ban Woffinden, Dudek, Zmarzlik, Hancock, Pedersen Holder C, etc etc
  2. If and that's a big IF there is money outstanding to any riders then just take it out of the bond (it is suggested a bond is well into 5 figures). So we can all presume there is no money outstanding now!!
  3. Just read the article from Stuart Douglas, one word comes to mind CLASSY
  4. No financial backer, No Promotor, No Track. For Cook to have plans at Eastbourne, these must have happened since Monday, I think not. Rye House were just used to complete the season. So sorry for the loyal fans.
  5. I have seen the numbers, they are correct. As for "Uncle" Len, you forget how bad the crowds were in the last few years (this time only I am only using the eyesight test) Some stands were rumoured to be condemned. It was the second time he sold the club in a complete mess.
  6. If you attended matches at Rye House on a regular basis then you would have noticed: 1) crowds last year were mostly over 1,000 and sometimes 2,000, granted it was a higher standard of racing, the team was clearly motivated, mildly successful and it was also probably swollen with Lakeside fans rejecting NL. 2) crowds this year 700 to about 1,200 team atmosphere and lack of effort from some riders was noticeably different and Fixed Race Nights were a disaster and Lakeside (a very good Lakeside) back in the Championship and certain riders hugely overpaid (naïve by the management but everybody moans that they want some top riders back in English Speedway but boy are they costly) 3) First Lakeside match at Rye House the crowd was quite good and I saw a lot of Rye House fans there, steadily those fans have stopped going, from people I have spoken to it was partly due to unappreciative comments aimed at their club from certain Lakeside fans. The point I tried to make was "there are NOT enough Lakeside fans going to Rye House to make it viable" (what ever the reason is it doesn't matter, its just a fact) so they need some Rye House fans (points 1 or 2) to attend the Lakeside matches. Rye House did not go bust allegedly, if some riders were paid late (I don't know but lets presume so) look at Workington this year admitting the same, There have been rumours many times in the past that other teams have had a late payment history Finally each club are meant to pay a bond to the BSPA for their licence so surely if any club does not pay its riders then the money can come from the bond.
  7. Well saidNickRushbrook a voice of reason at last from Lakeside. Here are a few facts: You do not have your own home (really hope that changes but boy you might be surprised how hard that is) Not enough Lakeside fans attended the matches at Rye to make it viable in the Championship Therefore you need a large group of Rye House fans to go as well Anybodys dreaming if they think that will change by moving to Eastbourne So the idiots at Lakeside who slag of the stadium (granted its not the Royal Albert Hall but there again nor was the Arena Essex Gravel Pit) who slag off the track (yep it was bold as a babys bottom but why didn't Lakeside keep the shale after their last meeting?) slag off the food (get real). All this did was alienate the Rye House fans whom see above you so need. Yes there were a number of valid issues but why insult your host when you have no home to go to yourself. NickRushbrook I hope the close season brings you good news for Lakeside you at least you deserve it
  8. Congratulations Workington from Rye House fans
  9. "Anyway Michael he then ravished me" The beard and boobs were something else in fact "in the best possible taste" And who can forget the character Cupid Stunt for our younger viewers yes it really was allowed on telly in the 70s
  10. Absolutely, whilst hopefully the playoff teams make some money, the non playoff teams will not lose money because they are not in the playoffs, so its still a win situation.
  11. Who won the league 10 years ago? 5 years ago? 2 years ago? I bet you cant answer that. In short it doesn't matter all that much does it. What does matter is that teams come to the tapes the following season and a few big pay days at the end of the season might just make the difference, so the play offs are a good thing if you think it through. NO FANS NO MONEY NO SPEEDWAY
  12. I am very sad for you to lose your home I don't wish that on any fan even the "arch" rivals Mildenhall. Im sure its frustrating at Rye for multiple reasons but try to support your club, try to keep your club afloat in any format, its so much harder to re-launch a club. Good luck in the future and of course tonight.
  13. Cheap shot Waco (although probably accurate) by riding at Rye House at least your boys have a chance of reaching and even winning the league, there again for those ungratefuls perhaps you can hold it at Lakeside tonight.......whooops I forgot.
  14. Very Good As a neutral regardless how this situation arose they should let Lakeside through to the final and all it will need is for Rob Godfrey to phone his long time friend Ged Rathbone and ask him for a favour and step aside, presuming g they are friends.
  15. Prehaps you would like to pay for it or put together a consortium, oh its easy to just ask others to foot the bill. Whilst I am no apologist for the current owners the place was allegedly condemned by H & S after the state Silver left it in.
  16. I agree with most of what you say although this years drop in attendances was also down to Fixed Race Nights and a different attitude from certain senior riders. I only comment on Lakesides private grief as I have lost my club twice now (after 30 years of supporting the Rockets I held the club to account by not going in 1993, but after a few years of it being closed I realised my folly) you then come to realise how ever poorly the patient is, it is far better to keep it alive, even if it is in far from ideal health.
  17. Oh I here sighs from fans of defunct teams all over the country, sadly your wish may come true if you are a reflection of the Ammers fans.
  18. Crowds were about 1500 to 2000 last year with about 550 for the end of the Silver era, the best I have seen there since the early 80s. I see your plan, f@ck off the people you need to attend to save your club as there wernt enough Ammers last night to save your club.
  19. One other point about last night. I was really really cold and there were some pretty bad accidents which will naturally slow the meeting down, but in one heat the Workington management replaced Bickley with Campton (correct decision) but because Campton now had "2 on the trot" he was allowed about 15 minutes to get ready WHY? if he needs a break then don't choose to put him in the race. So what happens, it is the mugs (supporters) who have to hang around getting colder. Tail wagging the dog, what in speedway I hear you ask. As a neutral it looked like Workington wanted it more than Lakeside who for large parts of the meeting seems second best. Oh and thanks to Lakeside fans for slagging off our stadium, out track, our lighting, our food, whilst it may not be great The Arena Essex Raceway was never confused with London Palladium. Get real guys I don't think you get it , sadly you are on the cusp of extinction as a club, so suck it up and rally around before its too late.
  20. don't worry now you have challenged the delicate flower he will have a list of excuses as long as the straights at Berwick, If you think he is "passed" it (no crime as all riders do eventually, except Hancock) Glasgow fans just remember him hunting down and overtaking Jason Doyle in heat 15 to win the play off match, the man still clearly has it, well for some clubs.
  21. Your right the race nights were a disaster for Rye House but the atmosphere was not the same right from the start this year and its wasnt just Harris not putting in a fair shift.
  22. Horse and Cart, Cart and Horse - If Harris had put in proper commitment at Rye House then maybe just maybe the club would have kept the number of fans from the previous year and then the club would not have closed and then he would have earned more. But without tracks there is NO earnings for riders so promote your sport lads or get a part-time job to support your hobby. NO RIDER HAS A DIVINE RIGHT TO RIDE FULL TIME UNLESS THE SPORT MAKES ENOUGH MONEY TO SUPPORT THEM TO DO SO (i.e Grasstrack)
  23. Oh Yes I concur with The Glasgaw fans. Harris was more Bummer than Bomber for Rye House if he missed the gate he was just "swaning "around in third place (8 matches top score of about 7), so watching his performances for Poole was @.+~. Lost all respect for the man. p.s. I couldn't understand how every year in the Fantasy Speedway League he always started with an average in the 7s, could it be that he would cherry pick his matches at the end of the previous season to reduce his average and then become more employable next year (very good for Harris not so good for the paying customers who attended those meetings).
