Welcome aboard the Raiders Express the new three. Interesting to note Danyon (hope I spelt it correct) scored 8 points (and reached the final) at Scunny on Sunday the same score as Dan Greenwood and Danny Phillips and more that Govier, Wilson and Bowen.

If You Could Bring Back One Rider...
Rayleigh replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
KELVIN MULLARKEY * pantomime villain * record bonus points in a season 84 * 4 races at Glasgow 4 f/exc, must be a record * could always be relied on winding up and beating Mildenhall ( and lived there) * clashes with Barney Kennett, Alan Sage, Martin McKenna and halfa Browning (did you see the size of that fella) are folklore down by the riverbank. * had a fight on the track with Kevin Smith against Newcastle in 1980 (no big deal until you realise Smithy was his PARTNER) -
Well considering the time Andrew Silver has had to build a team he is doing a damn good job. I believe there is still enough points for Brendon Johnson and 3 three pointers (including a No 8) Leek, Hume and Watts. The team will be much more competitive than I dared hope for. Andrew, lets hope it is the start of a long managerial role at Rye you have made an impressive start.

When aboard Luke & Luke (sounds like the firm in Trading Places)

Cant help feeling Garrity has mugged us Rye fans. The start (and middle) of last year he was awful, but I was prepared to believe the "bike issues" misdirect, but his performances improved considerably towards the end of the season. I suppose a leopard does not change his spots, so move on please and let, by all accounts a honourable guy (and when fit, a better rider) represent my team. No doubt fans from a another club will be excited with the news that Garrity has joined them, they will be told last season was down to "bike issues" are now behind him, well remember you have been warned.

167 replies and no riders announced, shows there is some interest in the Raiders.

Are we running this year? On one side: I thought Moggo II and Hoppy were highly likely team members but both have now joined others On the other side: The fixture list have the match dates. Come on Andrew please enlighten us.

Whoops I missed Moggo Mark II

I don't have inside info but just looking at the riders already declared could the team look like this. 1 Luke Bowen - Simon Lambert 2 Macauley Leek - is he old enough 3 Benji Compton - Kent connection 4 Gary Chessell - Kent connection 5 Training track discovery (a 43 year old who had a 17 year break and yet still was my rider of the year, just don't take that helmet off and nobody will know) 6 Jason GARRAD - hopefully un-retired 7 Kia HUBBARD - is he old enough As I said just guessing but Nos 6 & 7 should have the old folks salivating
-
I thought David Mason would be best suited to the Eastbourne track but heck what do I know.
-
Bet the refs will be sighing with relief, I am sure there were many a shake when that phone rang after a controversial decision knowing that the formidable Hazel was a calling. short fuse are not, you always felt sure was batting for us, many thanks.
-
Jacobson is a big worry, If he is poor - there will be loads of pressure on Garrity or/and Nelson to become heatleaders If he is good - as he is 19 will he be missing for World U21s World U21 team cups etc and Lens history of guests Benji Compton get your bikes ready.
-
I think Berwick should do everything possible to get Kus back, at last the rider blossomed from being settled and happy unlike at Redcar (I presume they are his parent club)
-
It would be a big mistake to get Kus back as he was very happy at Berwick, just look at his record at Berwick to Redcar.
-
Great news that Andrew is involved as it is hoped he will continue the Rye House legacy after Len
-
No team closed during the 2014 season, No teams are in danger of going out of business in 2015, No riders failed to get paid last season No guests required during the 2014 season All seems well on planet BSPA so no need to change except for a helmet colour I wouldn't be surprised if some established clubs like Birmingham, Eastbourne Lakeside and Rye House joined the National League where at least the low point rates allow a club to still make a profit.
-
good news at last. Interesting to read promotional suggestions regarding 2016 (I have also heard rumours similar) but knowing Len who is infamous for looking after every penny, there is no way Len would be doing corrective and costly track work just for one final season. With all the new National League teams there will be a shortage of riders, I presume the standard (and points limit) will be increased thus the big plan will be the National League to replace Premier League (at £10-£20 per point from £50-£60 per point) and likewise Elite League with Premier League(£50- £60 from £10-£110 per point)
-
Still no news, as the late lamented Bob Hoskins said in the Long Good Friday "nobody knows nuthin it aint normal" Come on Shadders give us a clue
-
No news at this stage has been unheard of in the past which leads to these options 1 No 2015 for Rye House, unlikely after comments earlier from Len 2 is Len considering Elite League as he seemed to have planned for Kent to move up before planning set back 3 Cant get an answer from Nelson and Bowen on availability for 2015 4 or will we have a new promoter next season

Worrying Rye House Rumours
Rayleigh replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Of course he should, but this is speedway and not any normal working relationship, After all I understood that a club had to pay a bond of £20,000 (I think)to the BSPA so this sorry situation can never be repeated, but there again that would happen in a normal working relationship. -
Worrying Rye House Rumours
Rayleigh replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
For all the faults of Rye this year at least Len pays the riders in FULL and ON TIME, this he should get respect for, just look at Peterborough (although there was never a problem at Peterborough or Oxford before, or was there?) And to think that Steve Ribbons was regarded as not a fit and proper person to be a promotor. I hope this year at Rye was all about a small budget due to the installation of the air fence, as I say I hope, as having lost Rye before I so hope we don't go there again. -
Peterborough Panthers 2014
Rayleigh replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
In the past riders who have withdrawn their services due to non payment have found themselves banned for 28 days so no wonder riders are concerned to put facts in the public domain. Just look at the riders absences or resignations this year at Peterborough (now look at the record of a club like Edinburgh)as they say "if it walks and talks like a duck it probably is". -

If the rumours are true, I hope the Peterborough fans applaud and not criticise their riders who have continued to ride whilst been owed money, would you keep working for an employer who didn't pay you for previous work? -

Unfortunately his back has not be damaged from a bulging wallet in his back pocket. A sad end for a great servant of British Speedway especially when you think of his accident at Oxford. Thanks Ales
