Raiders V Stoke Mon 2nd May After Premier At 2pm Approx 4-4.30
Rayleigh replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Good win for the Raiders today but despite the top end supremacy it was good to see Leek and Locke having wins and improving and Banks looked better in his first couple of races. If they continue to improve and the return of Hunter now soon, the team will be really stong by the end of the season. -
Rye House V Workington (premier League) 2nd May, 2pm
Rayleigh replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Given the forecast and the Rockets obvious lack of team strength. I thought was a super meeting and yet again this (weak) team is punching above its weight, just shows how bad the team spirit was the last few years as at 17-25 we would have taken a hammering. Sorry Karger you need to retire (just for a short while) and Lanham again failed to impress (heat 14 at Rye should be in his pocket) -
Rye House V Peterborough Pl Saturday 16th April
Rayleigh replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I didn't even mention Karger so no need for separate paragraphs. Didn't want to mention Karger as I had an pleasant evening. Don't be so touchy it was not meant as a dig at Scunny, in fact it was more recognition that its about the best racing track in the country and the fans oupp there would enjoy Kaspers all or nothing efforts. -
Rye House V Peterborough Pl Saturday 16th April

14 points out of 15 were scored in the first 5 heats tonight from gate 4, Kasper then has gate 4 and scores a blob, I really like all his effort but its just not gonna happen for him at Rye, for his sake he needs a track like Scunthorpe to succeed. Not sure if I have ever seen Kennett try harder and his heats were worth the admission alone. Well done Peterboro, worthy winners in a good nights racing. and doth your hat to NBJ I like EVERY Rye fan wish he was still on our side. -
I accept the points made above, but my only point was accidents and problems do happen, that's speedway but please referee keep the meeting moving as fast as possible.

Rye House V Ipswich Witches 9th April
Rayleigh replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sorry Shadders, I didn't mean a straight replacement with Shanes for Karger (I agree with you a rider that allows Kasper to go to reserve would be great) I meant a rider for the future. -
When will speedway learn, I left after 10 heats and over 2 hours. I know the track was more than tricky, Conner Mountain had a "big off" (hope you are OK) but everything was so slow to get the next race/rerun going. Sure you will say riders need time to recover but surely the fans come first. The mathimatical equation is no fans, no match.

Rye House V Ipswich Witches 9th April

Just returned from Dumpenhall where Shanes looks the real deal and on the day better than Ayes and Bowen. Give the british boys a chance -
On the plus side : Welcome home Robbo the old skip and Eddie have four 5-1s in heats 13 and 15 this season already. On the negative side : Shields then Maassen then Karger, you cant beat the Rye House due diligence.

Alan, How is George? is he fit for Monday?

One challenge meeting on a cold March evening was too much, please don't insult the Plymouth fans intelligence. Thought it was strange that Perks "broke down" on the way to Rye House on Saturday yet George Hunter had time to get his bikes ready and down to the track in time when he wasn't meant to be riding that evening. Was Perks refusing to ride due to lack of payment? Cant wait for Speedway to get a purpose built stadium so the sport can be run by professionals.

Ipswich Vs Scunthorpe March 17th 7.30pm
Rayleigh replied to ZODIAK's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Are you really suggesting sacking Paco after ONE meeting (granted terrible) maybe bike problems, set up problems, very slick track problems, injury problems, I don't know but give him some time please. Before I am accused of being a Ipswich fan, I not, but he is in my Fantasy Team (now Im unhappy as well) -
Well there is no mistaking, Warren Scott is going for it, the stadium is getting the long overdue makeover it needed, lets just hope that Speedway will be part of it. Good luck to BMR for the season and long live the Rockets.
-
Hold on before the old man is canonised, I think two fans brought the team back in 1999 and anther 50 put their hands in their pockets, oh and then approached Len to return to speedway..

Bye Bye to the Yellow and Blue halves is an awful decision. I have tried to be balanced this winter and support the new management but this was a bad decision IMO. Gone with the body colour ( its even worse than Ronnie Russells effort) goes a small part of my club I have loved since 1970 and hence that much easier to leave the whole lot behind if in the future Im not satisfied with the show (you better deliver a good product now)
-
Very sorry to hear of Johns leaving. The former postie, certainly delivered a 1st class service for the Rockets over the last 16 years ending the only way possible, the sack. All joking apart many thanks to a very underappreciated person (but really just a big big fan) as they say you only realise what you had when its gone.

Only 30 days to go, just imagine it The sound of "the magnificent men in their flying machines" blaring away 4 Boiler suited men walk uncoordinated to the centre green An 80 something man mumbling in to a muffled microphone He throws a £2 coin at 4 boys standing on the ex-dog track, but as usual its on a bit of string so he can pull it back at the last moment so he use it next week Bowen and Boxall are warming their bikes up, but don't worry we have new blood this year as Mear and Tommy Gun are back, but no Tyson "again" DIDNT YOU JUST LOVE THE SEVENTIES Hold on somethings changed ????????

Well said Startline Sid, I believe this lack of "benefit of the doubt" is because over the last few years Silver used up ALL the goodwill. Give the new owners a fair chance, of course hold them to account, but allow them a chance to "get their feet under the table" after all they would have never experienced the murky world that is Speedway.
-
I get that the new owners have made some bizarre decisions, maybe by them or maybe other influences (im not in the know) but these are new times, Lets hope they are on a fast learning curve and these mistakes will not be repeated in the future but at least we have speedway to look forward to. With regards to loaning out riders to our close rivals, since ive been supporting this team our closest rivals have been Romford and Hackney (don't forget it). Gone is the Silver mantra "I will do it my way but at least I will open next season"
-
Agreed Karger is no NBJ especially with his scores last season at Kings Lynn 8+3 and K*nt 7+1 against NATIONAL LEAGUE RIDERS, but hopefully he is a work in progress for the future signing, then all this pessimism about the future is unfounded and maybe the promotion do have good intentions, well until they get p*ssed off will all the negativity aimed at them. Afterall we aint gonna win the league this sedason so I would rather see a rider develop than Kerb Krawling Klint.
-
Jason Bunyan, I think you do know, the answers in the word kNOw
-
Im pleased with Ruml, Lets face it we are not in the running for the league so I would rather be entertained and seeing Kasper, Ruml, Heeps (hopefully) improve and Robson St will make Saturday evenings much more enjoyable than Kerb Krawling Klindt.
-
Best way to avoid the Tarmac truck is get behind the team, get behind the riders and get behind the management. If the plan is for only one more year then getting Ruml for the long term doesn't make sense, nor does running the Raiders but LOSING A SHED LOAD OF MONEY FROM AN UNSUPPORTED TEAM will do it easily.

Surely Lambert and Worrall should be the top end reliable riders, followed by Lindgren the younger, that makes Kus a second string, show me a better second string this season, in fact he would be our second heat leader at Rye House, some people don't know how lucky they are.
