  1. Good morning Rob, Time to get realistic, the promoters have load a shed load of cash with the new TV deal and as the attendance at Speedway is not sufficient to pay for the stadium other revenues are needed or its Brandon/Hackney Wick time. As an old traditionalist I like a grass centre green but if the choice is Bumps and Speedway or Grass and new housing estate then its the first every time.
  2. Look I agree the publicity is not great but how one forgets the last few years of Silver. Crap teams usually bottom three, favorites Bowen Boxall etc, no atmosphere, double headers that lasted two days not two hours and run down stadium. Scott and Jensen have produced the best team in years (Poole 30 Rye House 60 and Rye House 49 Swindon 27 come immediately to mind), track walks and a developing (slowly) stadium. Sure things aren't perfect and perhaps not how you would run the show but have some balance please.
  3. Have to say quite a blow if you cant use Holder as his average was ridiculous and while many fans like to "slag " him off at present they would all (except KL) have him on that average.
  4. Thanks Steve, although surely the 9 months must be nearly up, or is a work permit issue now?
  5. To us non Poole fans, what has happened to Chris Holder?
  6. Welcome Aaron, sorry to see Ben or should I say not see Ben this season but Aaron will be just fine. Does anybody know the average he has?
  7. Football is awash with money mainly from the sky TV deal and the worldwide TV deal Rugby League allowed TV to change the structure to Super League and are now building new stadiums from the bump up of money entering the game Darts from a pub game to selling out arenas such as 02 mainly from the Premier League and other events all on TV Cricket 20/20 specifically designed for yes you guessed it TV But Speedway thinks TV is negative for it "Lions led by Donkeys"
  8. Well the fans complain that promoters fuss over petty rules yet all this furore over Max Clegg. Rye House's season will not depend on Max and unfortunately I don't think he will keep his place within six weeks anyway (hope Im proved wrong). If you want to complain about false averages the Woffinden two years ago coming in on a 7 and Worynas 4.50 a complete joke that one.
  9. Don't get all these predictions of Rye in bottom two Dads Army - well that was said last year Cant win away - Poole 30 Rye House 60 Rye started poorly but the changes were immense and Rye were on an absolute roll at the end of the season Rye 47 Swindon (unbeaten for 17 matches) 29, see score above, so if things are same (I get the age and KK issues) but this will easily be a top 4 team. What could dash a top 4 place is that I strongly suspect halfway through the season teams will change massively when the TV money is available and a number of Grand Prix riding haven't started the GP season well and simply come here to earn some extra money. In short the changes will decide this season not the starting teams.
  10. Welcome back KK, by far the best option given what points we had to "spend"
  11. Hi Startline Sid hope you have hibernated well as someone not "in the know" is the hot tip for No 1 KK?
  12. Scene: Dell Boy and Rodney sitting in the car outside Sotherbys Dell Boy "Well Rodders how did we do?" Rodney " well, we have enough petrol to get home" Dell Boy "No you dipstick, what was the score?" Rodney "Oh, opening his programme the score was .....Poole Pirates 30 .... Rye House 60" Dell Boy "Well.... we have had better days"
  13. I guess the wait for announcing the last/first rider has a lot to do with Polands decision to relax/or not the 2 country ruling, this would clearly engulf KK
  14. Rider of the year at Redcar I recall. The guy gives everything he has, what else can you ask. Get behind your team and thank your lucky stars you HAVE a team
  15. I was also there and whilst I agree matches on the TV have looked really bumpy, it must be said that it was completely smooth the night we were there.
  16. I agree Steve A great British classic, full of characters, run for years (something like 286 episodes) and was recognised as a great success.
  17. With 7.28 to use it looks like : KK 6.86 Worrall R 7.26 Sundstrom 7.22 (if that is correct) Nilsson K 7.13 I would take KK I know what Poole fans will warn but four maximums in a few matches and a near 10.00 point average last season for Rye House is the only one of the above can elevate into a genuine No1
  18. 9.00am is on its way so todays guess is ..... Nicholls and KK
  19. Those losses were with a completely different team. This team was on a complete roll at the end of the season and Poole 30 Rye House 60 and Rye House 47 Swindon 29 (that ended a 19 win streak) show the power of the team. I genuinely would not swap this team for any other already announced/proposed, as for possibly winning the league many things such as injuries can happen and don't forget the 31 Jul transfer deadline when teams can be transformed. Roll on March
  20. If it was reserves yesterday it will be second strings today, Kennett and Barker
  21. If Robbo is at reserve as per the Rye House press release then all five riders will have an excess of 5.72, it is therefore not possible to fit Doyle in without removing Nicholls and Harris (very unlikely) . If Wells is not coming (big shame) then it looks like Kennett to me.
  22. Real shame about Ricky, he really clicked with KK in the "engine room" last season. The only reason I can see for not using Wells is that the World champion is coming and by using Robbo or Ben B Rye House will be able use that point for a slightly stronger reserve than the two 2 point riders previously mentioned. Yet again only in speedway does a rider pay for doing TOO well. Good luck Ricky hope you are back soon.
  23. Don't believe what you hear, he wanted to stay at Redcar but was instructed by Newcastle to ride for them . He has now had his operation and if fit are raring to go for whoever he signs for.
  24. That's rather harsh, as I recall he was rider of the year last time and on many occasions held things together. He also wanted to stay but Newcastle ordered him back. Signing Kus would be a big +
  25. Why do people go on about London, whether you like it or not, the make up of residents are vastly different fact than from the 20th Century and unless Speedway can find a way to reach out to the non white population, London speedway will always be a "thing from the past"
