  1. I agree Steve A great British classic, full of characters, run for years (something like 286 episodes) and was recognised as a great success.
  2. With 7.28 to use it looks like : KK 6.86 Worrall R 7.26 Sundstrom 7.22 (if that is correct) Nilsson K 7.13 I would take KK I know what Poole fans will warn but four maximums in a few matches and a near 10.00 point average last season for Rye House is the only one of the above can elevate into a genuine No1
  3. 9.00am is on its way so todays guess is ..... Nicholls and KK
  4. Those losses were with a completely different team. This team was on a complete roll at the end of the season and Poole 30 Rye House 60 and Rye House 47 Swindon 29 (that ended a 19 win streak) show the power of the team. I genuinely would not swap this team for any other already announced/proposed, as for possibly winning the league many things such as injuries can happen and don't forget the 31 Jul transfer deadline when teams can be transformed. Roll on March
  5. If it was reserves yesterday it will be second strings today, Kennett and Barker
  6. If Robbo is at reserve as per the Rye House press release then all five riders will have an excess of 5.72, it is therefore not possible to fit Doyle in without removing Nicholls and Harris (very unlikely) . If Wells is not coming (big shame) then it looks like Kennett to me.
  7. Real shame about Ricky, he really clicked with KK in the "engine room" last season. The only reason I can see for not using Wells is that the World champion is coming and by using Robbo or Ben B Rye House will be able use that point for a slightly stronger reserve than the two 2 point riders previously mentioned. Yet again only in speedway does a rider pay for doing TOO well. Good luck Ricky hope you are back soon.
  8. Don't believe what you hear, he wanted to stay at Redcar but was instructed by Newcastle to ride for them . He has now had his operation and if fit are raring to go for whoever he signs for.
  9. That's rather harsh, as I recall he was rider of the year last time and on many occasions held things together. He also wanted to stay but Newcastle ordered him back. Signing Kus would be a big +
  10. Why do people go on about London, whether you like it or not, the make up of residents are vastly different fact than from the 20th Century and unless Speedway can find a way to reach out to the non white population, London speedway will always be a "thing from the past"
  11. No rider has a divine right to ride speedway fulltime if the riders and the sport cant generate enough income, then part time it is. STOP THE TAIL WAGGING THE DOG.
  12. Having taking another look at the strange rule of "only one rider above 8" given the change is Tack Sub, under the new rule your top three riders can have 17 of the 30 rides in a meeting whereas the double points rule the top three riders can have only 14. This would only encourage teams to employ 3 no 1 riders instead of a balanced side. This just maybe the first mildly sensible move by the BSPA.
  13. Spot on Sugarray, A Poole fan complaining about manipulation when they sign Woryna on a 4.5 average "raised eyebrows"
  14. The team at the end was absolutely buzzing and I think this fits: Harris -low average as always and actually worked out the home track KK - very very low average just keep him happy Nicholls - rider of the year, chance Rye House could be the venue of his "Indian Summer" Wells - an absolute must made great strides last year, his pairing with KK was match changing Barker- seemed to hate Ryes track but stuck with it and finally came good "respect" Robbo - definitely a bottle of vintage claret, seems to get better with age 2.06 to play with go with a newbie like we did with Perks how about Jenkins
  15. Why cant they have a just few Saturdays such as an off night for GPs so no one is excluded
  16. So its to assist riders to earn more money than to assist fans, point proven
  17. Madness, just to placate a few greedy second rate GP riders (bet you wont see Dudek, Zmarzlik, Syfutidinov, and Woffinden). Mondays and Wednesdays/Thursdays are just great fro people who can only go at weekends or have children.
  18. The team that we finished the season was potent and with one measly point extra I firmly believe we would now be champions, in short I don't need improvement just the same please will do. I agree about KK though four maxs in such a short time with us and as I was at Poole and home to Swindon those two performances with compete with almost any memories I have in 47 years of following the Rockets.
  19. Still hoping the AGM will reverse this mad idea of fixed nights 1) To increase GP riders back - dream on if you think the elite GP riders Dudek, Zmarszlik, Woffinden and Sayfutinov are coming, what we will get is one 2nd tier rider per team and just look at the evidence what those riders have DONE already NEWSFLASH EX WORLD CHAMPION CHRIS HOLDER JOINS KINGSLYNN, how did that work out? EX WORLD NO2 ZASPRZAK COMMITS TO POOLE, they wont stop cheering for him will they? BRITISH RIDER MAKES GP AND RETURNS HOME TO WORKINGTON, surely this time they will be queueing round the block for this one? 2) Due to influx of GP riders (despite the great hike in costs) the BSPA have managed to secure a free TV deal with BT Sport. 3) Unfortunately Mondays and Thursdays may be sh#t for some fans who have supported the sport for 40 years. 4) Has any team actually moved up? Lakeside, Ipswich and Sheffield have all indicated they will be in the Championship (Ah yes a change of league name might help!) I really hope it will work but where is the evidence to show this isn't going to be the biggest fu@k up yet.
  20. I agree, a rider who was I think was rider of the year at Berwick, rider of the year at Redcar and in his own admission had his best ever year when at Newcastle. He also is very committed to his teams and after being Newcastle fans being "Robert Lamberted" (something Kings Lynn, Peterboro and Rye House fans are only too aware of) that should be very important..
  21. Is David Mason riding? oh well, if not maybe he will be there to support Tony
  22. Where does this illusion come from that GP riders will put something like 1,000 on the gate. It didn't happen with Holder at KL or Cook (soon to be GP) at Workington and going back people like Jonnson at Lakeside or even Pedersen N at Eastbourne couldn't do it. All the greedy GP riders want is a convenient night to earn some extra cash whilst testing their bikes (their best equipment will still be based in Poland where they receive 4 to 10 times the money). The crowds in the 70s and 80s were because teams had riders that related only to their team and a continuity of race night (Hackneys mantra was "make it a date, Friday at 8"). 1) Each team can choose its own race night 2) Teams ride regularly, preferably every week. As mentioned above I have yet to see evidence that GP riders justify their wages by increased gates so commit to UK or use the door marked EXIT. 3) No double up riders. if riders are not good enough to be invited to Sweden or Poland and they cannot entice enough fans to watch their team, then its time for riders get a job during the winter. I remember top Championship riders fixing their bikes to the back of a car no great big vans in those days.
  23. If there is one league with two conference riders at reserve 1 Harris 2 Barker/Robbo 3 Wells 4 KK 5 Nicholls 6 Jenkins 7 Thomas
  24. The rain today is probably heavier than the "rain off" earlier this season and it is more windier than the "wind off" earlier this season and he will probably still run the meeting, sometimes you really do get what you deserve in this life.
