  1. Just looking in from the outside it seems Ipswich want Emil but surely Artum Laguta is a better rider. From a Rye House opinion
  2. Rob is right, Steve is putting up one helluva fight and hes not won yet but he has made significant progress. The opposition are learning the old adage "Its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in dog"
  3. Great song - Dont give up on us baby - David Soul Great film - Never say never again - James Bond Great Book - Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
  4. Thank you everyone for signing
  5. Dont be too hard on the Mildenhall promotion they drew the short straw today. The track was dry at 2.45 at 3.15 Mark Spitz did a lap of honour doing the breaststroke. I left at that point realising that there was no chance of any racing and only riding isn't speedway for me. I presume that the real motivation for trying to "get to 10 heats" was to avoid all the re-admission tickets (i was pleasantly surprised how many were in the stadium) for another meeting. This would have been a big loss for the promotion in an already tough financial year. As a Rayleigh then Rye House fan I am far from a Mildenhall supporter but I do urge fans to put today down to bad luck and continue to support the club through the rest of the year.
  6. A big thank you for all of you who have contributed to a riders plight who has not ridden for a half a century. Speedway fans are a different class And if anybody would also like to make a donation big or small, its not too late.
  7. Very sad to read about Allen Emmetts current plight. It was him with Maloney, Saunders, Brown and Nigel Rackett that hooked me into speedway for over 50 years. Well done to Tony @ Retro Speedway for starting a GoFundMe page. As I would have shouted as a 12 year old "keeping going Allen, dont konk out"
  8. Oh how I`ve missed a Steve Shovlar balanced match report.
  9. Good point I plan to go to Peterborough and Eastbourne so be aware fans of those teams
  10. Congratulations on another 1st class edition. As somebody who enjoyed watching speedway at Rye House, Arena Essex/Lakeside, Hackney, Crayford, Canterbury, Boston, Exeter, Weymouth, Stoke, Buxton, Coventry, Milton Keynes and Rayleigh You don't know what you have until its gone GO A BUY A COPY OF THE SPEEDWAY STAR TODAY !!
  11. In 1986 Rye House had Kelvin Mullarkey and Rob Woofinden AS A PAIR. This wins this thread hands down
  12. Thanks for your support Chris. You have always been direct but I have nearly always agreed with your comments You don't need to like Steve Ribbons and if you have past issues with him please park it Right now he is doing everything he can to try to save the day for Rye House, its gonna be hard but he has made real progress (it would be bad timing to list the details right now). Keep going Big Steve.
  13. John, The lease says Motor Sports clearly, now councils have been known to ignore such clear directives hence why we have an ex planning officer in communication with the council.
  14. You are correct Ben91 that is the hope however longshot it is.
  15. Thanks Ben91 for supporting anyone trying to turn this thing around.
  16. Mock away gentleman. Lets just layout a few facts, he jointly re-opened Rye House in 1999 and was not in charge when it shut, he re-opened Wimbledon on his own and was not in charge when it shut. He ultimately failed but spent a fortune of his own money to try to re-launch Norwich after 50 years. No doubt he has made mistakes and has faults but please feel free to list your achievements on behalf of the speedway world, its so easy just to smirk and snipe.
  17. I genuinely wish you luck tonight. However on the off chance you don't win then please get behind anybody who is doing his damnest to salvage what is a very bleak situation and I can assure you he has made more progress than many of us thought he would make. Regarding crowd levels I was actually at a meeting with the BMR promoter at the time and he showed us his records from the first season in the Premiership and the highest crowd was 1,800 and nothing under four figures so 600 is easily attainable. This is still a long shot reviving the Rockets but there is a maybe a glimmer of hope.
  18. You may not like or rate Steve (remember in 1999 he and another fan chose not to give in when the track was concreted over for stock cars) you might be right the odds are clearly in the hands of Musk and his bulldozers and there is only a slim chance of this working but Planning officers can be really awkward (one person closed down Romford and Mildenhall have in the past had problems) but right now I only see him trying to save the day so I will back him. in short its seems its his hope or no hope.
  19. Of course you are welcome to your opinion but perhaps you would like to outline your plans on how to revive Rye House and then we can decide whether its better that "tom twits".
  20. Len Silver said "there will always be Speedway at Rye House whilst he was alive"
  21. I will have what ever your having I was concerned with your name KeirStarmerFan (the man who at the Director Of Public Prosecutions said "Jimmy Saville had no case to answer")
  22. I urge people to rally and keep buying the Speedway Star it is an institution and if we lose it would be sadly missed. I remember a chap at Rye House, I think called Arthur bellowing "are you reading Speedway Mail" well nobody does now. On a practical level the history articles and brilliant. Remember you never knew what you had till its gone ...…. Rayleigh, Rye House 1 and Rye House 2.
  23. Please gentlemen stop bickering, this is a very serious time for the team and the sport. I hope people can focus on trying to avert this disaster.
  24. Thanks Rob, everybody please support Robs initiative.
