Rob is right, Steve is putting up one helluva fight and hes not won yet but he has made significant progress.
The opposition are learning the old adage "Its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in dog"
Dont be too hard on the Mildenhall promotion they drew the short straw today.
The track was dry at 2.45 at 3.15 Mark Spitz did a lap of honour doing the breaststroke. I left at that point realising that there was no chance of any racing and only riding isn't speedway for me.
I presume that the real motivation for trying to "get to 10 heats" was to avoid all the re-admission tickets (i was pleasantly surprised how many were in the stadium) for another meeting. This would have been a big loss for the promotion in an already tough financial year.
As a Rayleigh then Rye House fan I am far from a Mildenhall supporter but I do urge fans to put today down to bad luck and continue to support the club through the rest of the year.
A big thank you for all of you who have contributed to a riders plight who has not ridden for a half a century.
Speedway fans are a different class
And if anybody would also like to make a donation big or small, its not too late.
Very sad to read about Allen Emmetts current plight. It was him with Maloney, Saunders, Brown and Nigel Rackett that hooked me into speedway for over 50 years.
Well done to Tony @ Retro Speedway for starting a GoFundMe page.
As I would have shouted as a 12 year old "keeping going Allen, dont konk out"
Congratulations on another 1st class edition.
As somebody who enjoyed watching speedway at Rye House, Arena Essex/Lakeside, Hackney, Crayford, Canterbury, Boston, Exeter, Weymouth, Stoke, Buxton, Coventry, Milton Keynes and Rayleigh You don't know what you have until its gone GO A BUY A COPY OF THE SPEEDWAY STAR TODAY !!
Thanks for your support Chris. You have always been direct but I have nearly always agreed with your comments
You don't need to like Steve Ribbons and if you have past issues with him please park it Right now he is doing everything he can to try to save the day for Rye House, its gonna be hard but he has made real progress (it would be bad timing to list the details right now). Keep going Big Steve.
John, The lease says Motor Sports clearly, now councils have been known to ignore such clear directives hence why we have an ex planning officer in communication with the council.
