good result for the Tigers and well deserved, another hard to swallow result for Scorpion fans, seems visiting team riders know how to use bends three and four to pass from the back better than the home team as demonstrated in excellent fashion by Mr Summers. Not much point in sacking Willco and replacing him with a rider of similar ability ,there needs to be a serious rethink on team building, bit late in the season now though.

Redcar V Scunthorpe 13-7-17
dirtdodger replied to RedcarB123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No excuses for the Scorpions, riders who should have at least maintanined their average and indeed could have been expected to improve on it ,have not done so,this is the third season the team has struggled at the lower reaches of the league, there needs to be a major rethink on team building, the idea of building a team around strong reserves is just not working!A credibal No1 with good second strings has to be a better alternative,IMHO.,The crowd is dwindling away at the EWR its not hard to see why,ya cant win 'em all but a competeve team would see crowd numbers improve, that said i'll be there next home meeting handing over me money because the last home meeting was a cracker and maybe just maybe........... -
Having been critical of Josh Autys performances of late on an other forum I feel its only fair to give credit when its due,Josh's efforts in this meeting were much more like the Josh we all know, along with a much improved Ryan Douglas they provided solid support to Lewis and MPT,a good TEAM performance and a well deserved result.

Josh Auty And The Not 28 Day Ban
dirtdodger replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sadly Mr Godfrey has allowed sentiment to cloud his judgement in this case,Its clear Josh Auty has not been enjoying his speedway for weeks now , only he knows the real reason why.Not the best gater to sit on a speedway bike his sweeping moves to pass oposition riders have been a delight to watch, however watching him being overtaken like a novice has been painfull to say the least. If Josh Auty has had a change of heart and wants to continue racying speedway thats fine, a change of track would do him a lot of good,Rob Godfrey has passed up a chance to strengthen the Scunthorpe team and try to salvage something from the season . -
Ipswich Vs Scunthorpe March 17th 7.30pm
dirtdodger replied to ZODIAK's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
as a Scorpions fan I'm delighted with the away win ,but c'mon folks this was just one meeting so I don't think it's panic time in the Witches camp just yet.Should be a cracker of a meeting on Sunday with the Witches out for revenge and the Scorpions keen to prove that Thursdays result was no fluke,i cant wait! -
Future Of Scunthorpe Scorpions
dirtdodger replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
i first saw speedway in1952 at Bristol, give you some idea of my age,i agree 100% with everything that's been said about rising costs of machinery, faster bikes have not IMHO made the spectical of speedway racing better, just made the bikes less re liable and more expensive to repair. There are several reasons for the drop in crowd attendance, change of race day to Friday from Sunday, lots of people in Scunthorpe work a two shift system which means they can only get to speedway on alternate weeks they get out of the habit and don't bother to come at all,my wife was happy to come with me on a sunny Sunday afternoon but has no interest in coming out on Friday night she'd rather be watching Corrie with a bottle of wine! Several people I used to work with don't come any more because they just don't have the money, price of two tickets plus a couple of drinks =£40.In an earlier post someone said that there hasn't been a lot of job losses in Scunthorpe, but there a lot of people on the minimum wage. Two chaps in my village stopped going when Sunthorpe left the conference league 'cos they cound'nt identify with the 'new' team as youngsters they liked to watch the young lads race. Not saying I want to see National league racing back at Scunny but maybe Sunday afternoon was more Family friendly.I do hope to see speedway at EWR next year and I wish Rob and 'the team' at Scunthorpe Speedway all the best. -
i'v waited 60+ years to be a boring old f--t so now I'm gonna enjoy it ,so there!
