  1. Of course, a five-point-plus middle-order lad (like Anders Rowe) would be signed up in jig-time if he let it be known he was available for £25 per point less than the (vastly-inflated) going rate........
  2. With good friends in both camps, I watched and hugely appreciated both legs. What more can we ask for, that was a Grand Final coming down to the very last heat after so many twists and turns? Last night's Heat 13 saw Jason Doyle at his very best, a magnificent race, one for the archives. Truly amazing stuff. And the matchwinner for Sheffield wasn't Lambert, wasn't Bomber or even Chris Holder -- it was Jye Etheridge. Well done Reggie!
  3. Bomber for Tai and Jye Etheridge at #6 for Sheffield. Ipswich will juggle their Thompsons again.
  4. If averages are to be used to level teams up for the start of the new season, and the league is to in be more or less the same format, it should be realised that as four teams have finished this year under 40.00 and five above that figure, continuing to use 40.00 as the starting total would be logical. The lower-level teams could strengthen, and the clubs with higher figures (Poole are on 45.55!) would have to surrender points -- making riders available for the weaker teams. Too easy?
  5. Wasn't it CVS, when Wolves threatened to close down, coming out if Covid? On the other bit, Eurisport are now such a minor part of discovery+/Warner/TNT that their views would be no longer relevant, it' ll be for the bigger dogs to chew over.....
  6. Where in the rules does it say unattached riders must be 3-pointers?
  7. Delighted to see that Archie Freeman, who broke his leg in Bullets very first match (at Belle Vue) at Easter this year is at last fit, and returns to the side tonight.
  8. Why not? Clubs like Belle Vue and Wolves regularly race on the same day, home and away, on Bank Holidays. Jack Smith is racing as a guest for Glasgow in this match, then high-tailing it down the road to Berwick to ride for BV Colts.
  9. Redcar have listed Connor Bailey as riding at 2, with the proviso of moving to r/r if he's called to Poland. Leon Flint guests for Riss. Sedgy for Charles W. Luke Harrison listed at 7, with the proviso that, if NDLRC goes ahead at Worky (weather looks awful) Luke will go there, be replaced by Ben Trigger. Oxford have listed their regular team, including Jenkins and Atkins.
  10. .....and who, from the eligible Rising Star lists, do you believe should be in the line-up instead?
  11. Correct, Sean Courtney brought Jason to Shawfield. Shane raced the 1987 season for Newcastle, was here to start 1988 with the Diamonds when they suddenly pulled out the National League in mid-March. Shane was contacted and invited to join Tigers at that point. Jimmy Mac was manager of Berwick 1987/88.
  12. Not quite! He retired after 26 matches for Scunthorpe in 1975, at the impressive age of 47.
  13. There's a bit of a grey area regarding the fixture clash with the NDLRC at Worky........ While CabDirect Championship matches usually take precedence over NDL-level events, the NDLRC is (I presume) a BSP Ltd "purchased Event" and the rule-book says: 010.5 FACILITIES A team may utilise a facility to cover the absence of a rider(s) who is: - e) engaged elsewhere at a BSP LTD shared or purchased event. Which I think -- only think -- means the nominated riders from Redcar and Oxford will be at Northside...........
  14. Ken McKinlay. Six years a Tiger, then NINE World Finals, reserve at three more. Without doubt the greatest Scot of all time. In terms of service to the Tigers, Steve Lawson.
  15. Well, you could have! Scott is in Oxford's 1-7, would surely be available.....
  16. Leaving the management with an unholy scramble to get Trent Leverington, the rider being dropped, back in the team!
  17. One thing I haven't seen or heard about is, where was his "proper suit"? Did he have it available at Vojens, or had somebody just forgotten to chuck it in the van before leaving Poland for Denmark?
  18. Sadly, continuing heavy rain has caused the meeting to be called off tonight. Restaging details to follow.
  19. Colts have recruited Edward Davidson to ride at #7 in place of the injured Luke Muff.
  20. I think you misunderstood me. I was praising Screm's suggested course of action.....
  21. A final fond farewell on Saturday night to Berwick's Bullets after three entertaining Shielfield seasons. This will be the final match of the year for both teams, and with neither in a position to improve their league standings, the meeting will be raced for nothing but bragging rights. Belle Vue Colts are a fitting club to help in this farewell, as the Colts were the very first league visitors to Shielfield Park on official league business away back in 1968. Berwick skipper Greg Blair, sidelined from recent Bullets' matches, had hoped to make an emotional return to the track founded by his great-grandparents for the meeting, but has failed his fitness test. However Greg promises to be in the pits with his squad, helping to ramp up their enthusiasm. Without Steve Boxall and Connor Coles (and Jacob Hook, everyone's first choice as a guest, running too 'way high an average to be parachuted into the squad) the Bullets invite the tenacious and popular Luke Killeen to join their party as replacement for Connor and have pulled a handy stroke with the recruitment of Tom Spencer to fill in for Greg (Tom scored maximum points from the four races he finished while racing for Leicester Cubs at Shielfield last month) while the Colts -- as ever, ably managed by Little & Large -- will deploy rider-replacement for Sam Hagon. Prospective spectators are reminded that discounted early-bird tickets are on sale until Friday night, and with the prospect of a long, cold speedwayless winter looming, this will be everyone's last chance to watch some Saturday Shielfield skidding, catch up with speedway friends and -- sadly -- say au revoir to the GHT Bullets. If you bring your kids, they get in for free -- and if you bring your car, it can be parked for free. Just saying............ Tickets are available from www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets and the meeting will be livestreamed by BanditsTV. (tv.berwickspeedway.com) GHT Bullets: r/r for Steve Boxall, Luke Killeen, Jamie Halder, Tom Spencer, Danny Phillips, Kieran Douglas, Mason Watson Colts: James Pearson, Matt Marson, r/r for Sam Hagon, Freddy Hodder, Jack Smith, Jack Shimelt, plus a reserve guest to be announced.
