  1. Berwick don't have a sponsor's certificate, so no work-permit riders.
  2. Tero Aarnio is a nice wee guy, but he's (1) going to be 33 by the new season and (2) he's not a Berwick asset.
  3. Have to say I was impressed the Bridger deal was completed without the slightest hint escaping outside the camp until Facebook and newsletter came out.
  4. Don't think KO Cup matches count to rolling averages.
  5. Not do maths at school? Currently you have fifteen heats with fourteen riders. This means you pay for 90 points. You want 6-man teams? That's 12 riders. But you'll still want 15 heats, yes? So you're still paying for 90 points. Your saving is..........?
  6. What's to say? We had a quiet spell while the business details were sorted out, and then -- as promised -- the news was immediately released by Facebook, e-Newsletter, club website and media release. When firm news is available, we'll find out more, I'm sure. It is only October, and we know the club will run on into the fiftieth season of skidding -- we don't really need hard news until March or April. The new alliance is hard at work on our behalf -- trust them. Happy Halloween!
  7. Fairly obviously, Ryan having gone home he will be deemed to be withholding his services. Thus, Edinburgh are quite in order to ask for a facility.
  8. Spot on, screm (not a phrase I've typed any too often, but....) From newsletter, September 14th: "As we emphasised, enquiries are being treated in strict confidence" said John Anderson, speaking for Ryan and George yesterday. "Until we have reached agreement with a preferred bidder, we do not expect to be making any further public statements".
  9. Apparently so, if today's Daily Mirror has it right.
  10. It is exactly the same thing. It depends entirely on whether your team's rider is the runner or the takee.
  11. From the official rule-book: 3.1.3 For the purpose of these regulations, a rider is responsible for any breach attributable to any member of his entourage.
  12. Although paying rent to the stadium proprietors to allow speedway to be staged, Berwick operate all food and drink concessions within Shielfield. At many tracks, these concessions are the difference between profit and loss.
  13. Surprised to see Edinburgh fan saying 'it's all over now' when they still have next Friday's visit from the Tigers to come. No match between Tigers/Monarchs, Rangers/Celtic, Greece/Turkey or Jews/Arabs can ever be an afterthought, can it?
  14. Somerset's reserves will be Mason Campton and Ben Hopwood. Tigers, having seen what befell the Rebels in the first leg, have engaged Ryan McDonald as #8
  15. Per the e-Newsletter: At this point in time, there is nothing to be added to, or further said about the statement issued by the club directors. "As we emphasised, enquiries are being treated in strict confidence" said John Anderson, speaking for Ryan and George. "Until we have reached agreement with a preferred bidder, we do not expect to be making any further public statements".
  16. In fact, this was an excellent meeting, a last-heat decider with some very good racing. Good entertainment for spectators who might be less-concerned with the make-up of the two teams and just enjoy watching the show. Had to smile when it was announced that Peterborough had finally agreed to attend Armadale next Friday, too late for their hopes of making the play-offs.
  17. Quite correct. But last year, the warning was that the club would have been closed down had assistance not been forthcoming. This year, the club is for sale as a going concern. A different situation.
  18. It has to be hoped that the PL isn't affected by the (very necessary) changes the EL decide to make this winter. That said, no club, in any league, can start to plan teams for 2017 until they know the structures of their designated competition, the points limits and (as hinted) the number of riders in their teams.
  19. No point in anybody making 2017 plans until the league structures are known. Hope the EL won't force too much change upon PL, but.......
  20. Edinburgh have repeatedly stated that they offered Peterboro this Friday, and Panthers declined. Edinburgh can only run one meeting per week. End of story. The meeting will presumably now take place at the arse-end of October, completing the final PL table, but meaning nothing.
