  1. At a risk of attracting howls of disapproval, can I just say that, for an adult who wants to sit, under cover, to watch speedway, Berwick are offering the best deal in the Championship. Especially when you take the 10% early-bird discount. Only £18 -- and you could bring a couple of young teenagers in with you free. I'm not going to list all the other clubs' prices -- that's their business -- but the Jewson Bandits are certainly offering the best deal around this year. Oh, and parking's free, too...........
  2. The cheaper option is to buy online and save £2! Stewart is Jewson Bandits' team manager, by the way. Ian Rae is track curator.
  3. Many, many times. Like a cracked 78rpm disc. Like the Burnley and Sheffield United supporters who currently believe they'd get access to better players and get off the floor of the table if soccer across the nation would only go to ten-man teams.....
  4. Maybe 80% in the south of England. The rest of the UK has always found riders from a much wider pool.
  5. Isn't this the same as Nicholls coming in at Birmingham for Pawlicki?
  6. So you say, but despite your opinion, F1 generates millions, maybe billions, worldwide. British GP at Silverstone in 2023 attracted 480,000 paying spectators, every one paying at least three times as much as it cost to get into Cardiff. I think we'd all like speedway to do the same, no?
  7. If he became 'available' he would NOT be granted an ACU licence. He might get one from NORA, however. Which wouldn't help Plymouth, but thankfully keep him away from our leagues.
  8. Try again, Phil? Tarasenko's definately there. So is Musielak.
  9. PRESS & PRACTICE It’s been a long winter but the Jewson Bandits powered by Keenwood Karpets are back on track at Shielfield Park this Saturday night from 6:30pm! Here’s a summary of all you need to know Gates open at 6pm. Entry by donation. Season passes available to collect from the box office at the stadium entrance from 6pm until 7pm. Alternatively between 3pm and 5pm in the Black and Gold on March 30 or collect it on the night of our opening Border Trophy first leg against Workington Comets. Please note there is no season launch night on the Friday night but the riders and management team will be attending the Black & Gold immediately after Saturdays practice session. We can’t wait to see you all trackside once again!
  10. Travel won't need to be by van, don't think there will be any bikes on track, maybe a demo session for TV...
  11. A bit sad that a genuine, forward-thinking initiative by the League is being dissed by the regular Eeyores on here....
  12. Sadly not. The 24th would have caused some riders having to withdraw, and to maintain the standard of the event, it will be restaged later in the season.
  13. Big company and a well-known name nationally, can only be very good news. Jewson are part of the (£7.5 billion turnover) STARK group, so this sponsorship links the Bandits (sorry, Jewson Bandits) with a global giant. Launch weekend looms on March 22/23!
  14. I'd be thinking that locals will be attracted by the concept of seeing their very own GP star (and former) Comet in action around Northside.....
  15. Fortunately, there's a big Asda store over on the main road pretty near the track with full cash machine facilities, so anyone 'caught short' of the necessary readies would be able to pop over there to pick up a bit of cash.
  16. At least 45, maybe more. This is a big push by Big Phil!
  17. Nice cover picture and featured interview with Jye Etheridge in this week's Speedway Star by Phil Lanning.... Just three weeks until pre-season weekend!
  18. I've never heard that one before. Don't think it's the case. If it were the case, a club would need only to make up any seven today, but change it before their first meeting when their preferred septet was agreed and available.......
  19. As some will know, the invaluable Shielfield track staffers are working very hard this spring, moving the start line and changing/upgrading the safety fencing. Less than five weeks to Launch Night/Press'n'practice weekend!
  20. The two best British ladies are (as far as l've seen) Rachel Hellowell and Katie Gordon......
  21. Maybe the promotion -- who have done so little wrong since building the arena -- are waiting to see how he performs at Northside in a month's time?
  22. The problem with a change from 'on the track, under power' to 'at the tapes' is the huge difference in distance from pit gate to tapes at (say) Ippo or Sheffield to that at KL, BV or even Plymouth........
