SGB Championship 2024 Confirmed Signings
crescent girl replied to bloom89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
l'm truly impressed by Workington's signing Ms Liebmann, it'll be huge publicity, bums-on-seats and all the hoopla. Great for the Comets and the sport all over. But l'm afraid Dayle Wood, let alone Mickey West, has the beating of the lovely Celina..... -
Really? With Worky being so entertaining now, two former GP heat-leaders and exciting new names coming in for the first CL season? Surely there aren't such obsessed folk who won't buy a season ticket until they knew the name of a middle-order rider?

To be safe, maybe allow two hours, given that daytime meetings often require a couple of watering breaks to keep proceedings dust-free. However, on my visits l've been well-impressed by the way things have been run at Northside.

Championship Predictions 2024
crescent girl replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No, home wins are a win-win. Hardcore fans are happy and casual spectators (who don't really care too much about the end result of a match) will be attracted by the good publicity generated by a run of home wins. -
If Max is good enough (and l very much believe he is, no question) he won't be on the sidelines too long.....
-
Why can't people grasp that, no matter the number on their back, reserves can be swapped in every one of their heats after No 2?
-
... or someone else?
-
Not the BSPA, the rules come from SCB.
-
Kiwi, actually. Although l agree with your sentiment
-
Chunk? Josh McD?
-
Will his average go down? Won't he be stuck at 4.00 forever?
-
Very pleased to have Jye back to solidify the team's home scoring. The Jye who rode home and away against Plymouth, and played a (very) big part in winning the Premiership for Sheffield in their last match, will do very nicely.

On a realistic average, Matty would be a solid, dependable servant. But....
-
No, you're right. Came into team late one year. Alongside George Stancl, I think?
-
Of course they should, that was the plan as the stadium developed. But the Wolves/Panthers closures forced a consolidation of tracks and l suspect a great deal of pressure was put on the new Comets to move up 'in the best interests of the sport'. Which it most probably is, just that the promotion are now finding it tough to adjust, and put together a team to match their budget while holding their own on track.

Having a good asset-base is a handy revenue stream each season, as every unused asset commands a nice little earner in a loan fee from the club they do go off and ride for!
-
It has been careful to avoid ties between clubs with the same race-night. There will be a few off-night meetings this season, with four Friday tracks, three doing Saturday and two racing on Wednesdays. As a matter of interest, Poole, Edinburgh and Berwick have seniority on these nights, and won't need to move off-night......

In Australia, riders have to nominate themselves to contest any of the MA events. You don't nominate, you don't ride.

Plymouth Gladiators 2024
crescent girl replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He's from Argentina. Italy was just a flag of convenience to let him race in Europe without a visa. Since Brexit, l dunno...... -
Never quite the same after his huge crash at Ashfield early this year
-
In these inflationary times, be pleased there isn't a cost-of-living- increase.....
-
At Armadale last season (helping Troy Batchelor) Matty said he had his gear ready, just no-one had asked him!
-
Not three Friday tracks in the same group, surely? If it is a 4-club group, would be the three regular 'Scottish' sides, plus Worky......

Leicester Lions 2024

I don't know the criteria, but Drew Kemp turned 21 in August, Leon won't be 21 til next year...... -
Sadly, the cost would be too much to have tests at every meeting. But it would do no harm to have more-frequent random testing. As an aside, remember we only hear about the tests that come back 'non-negative' - - l know of several meetings in the season past at which random tests were carried out, with all results turning out negative.
