Well, although our memories are selective, and we think every meeting in our younger days was fantastic - the famous 1981 World Final had only two good races out of 21 - the early years of this century had a situation at Shielfield where visiting riders were much-more tentative at Berwick, and the likes of Makovsky could overhaul them almost at will. Since the track was improved (out of all recognition) the foamfence installed and (maybe most of all) the standard of rider in our league hugely improved, there are less mistakes made, visiting riders are harder to overhaul and although the standard of racing is considerably faster, closer and better, there are less crashes and wild-man overtakes. So, together with our selective memories, maybe Shadders has a point. But it is still the best way l know to spend a Saturday night.

It pains me to answer this poster, but those who contributed - to the foam fence - did indeed have their names inscribed on 'bricks' and displayed on the door of the old track shop, which is currently in the pits, with the names still displayed. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Good Post. The point is the owners aren't making threats, only opening up a conduit through which supporters - in the proper sense of the word - can make donations of whatever funds they can make available. It is a support group, and we have their mission statement.

Well, I'll be an optimist.... Rain until about 4pm, then clearing to a fair evening, according to three different forecasts. If Foxhall drains properly, and the track staff do a decent job it'll be OK, the Bandits can handle it. On our way now..............

There has to be some form of "official staus" or Chris Holder couldn't come in on a Tier 5, could he? Strange how so many are trying to disparage the efforts of Team GB, MA and Glasgow to kick-start the oldest series of Test Matches in our sport, is it to do with the meeting being 300 miles north of the Watford Gap, d'ye think? Anyway, if the Aussies are to lose a rider, even if he is their current Champion, they do have time to whistle up a good replacement, l'm sure..... It is still going to be a brammer of a meeting!

What's Tai's average, then?

Well, that's pretty poor thinking! You're based in Scotland, but don't fancy what is, by class of rider, one of the biggest meetings in Britain this year. Right on your doorstep. Where else will you see Tai or Chris H this year? As OveFundinFan said above, major sponsors are to be welcomed, not scorned - and if you don't want to pay a booking fee, just turn up with your cash in hand, and don't pay one.

But what if there is (perish the thought) a four-man pile-up in the first heats? They will HAVE to have at the very least a local standby reserve each. Jye EghedidgeofJosh Pi keyring for Aussies, and, er, er, dunno for GB. I get 6-man teams, but.....

Surely Tungate and Batchelor will get into the mix?

With a special mention for Chris Harris, who walked around the entire stadium with his bucket, posing for selfies and thanking each fan for their donation. For a visiting rider, who had just been handed a 5-1 and might have been a bit down, this was truly commendable.
