  1. Just thinking - it might be the only trophy either team will win this year! Making it ever so important for the next six months of bragging rights!
  2. Aaron Summers pulled up in Heat 15 at Berwick on Saturday, couldn't come out for Heat 17.
  3. If referee allows Klindt to get his rollers, he'll win races. Make him wait until tapes go up and he's useless. End of.
  4. The Edinburgh match will be there. Don't know about Ippo.
  5. Well, as I said a few posts back, paid ten from four starts at the last Armadale meeting a fortnight back isn't too shabby. Two weeks prior to that, Klindt also scored paid ten, but from six starts. None of the rest of your team got anything like Doolan's score -- Campton 6, Bach 4, Jensen 4, Proctor 2, Bickley 0.
  6. The Edinburgh track staff did a superb job of rescuing the track before the Berwick match after heavy rain virtually all day and a 40-minute delay to let them relay the surface once the rain went off. They deserve every plaudit for their efforts, and in fact there were some pretty good races when the match got going. They didn't "let themselves get caught out" and all that happened was the Bandits were making superb starts early doors. Nowt to do with the track. As for various Worky people here suggesting Kevin Doolan is a poor choice of guest, he seemed OK in that one -- paid ten from four, I think.
  7. Not really, the rule was introduced to prevent a team manager putting two low-earning dumplings out in Heat 15 if the match was already lost or won. The difference between paying two world-class guys for a meaningless 5-1 and one point to a reserve is considerable. Probably at least a grand. The rule was brought in for the benefit of the paying public.
  8. Yes! Rye House did it at Berwick a few years back -- that's the one I think of, off the top of my head -- and I'm sure there are other instances. Having said that, KL would have to have a pretty spectacular collapse........................
  9. Don't injured riders have access to assistance from the SRBF? Just because they dont publicise the help doesn't mean they don't get it.
  10. I thought Jordan Stewart rode very well, very solidly at Ashfield in the U21 event.
  11. He was the younger of the Lawsons who were riding last night...... Of course there's more to come!
  12. Wasn't every team manager, successful or not, a fan before they took on the job? Regarding tac-subbing, there was one well-known promoter who instructed his manager never to give the No 1 a tac-sub ride because he was on such a high rate per point.....!
  13. Damn right -- and the "Workington Tigers" were just as crippling financially to the Beatons in 1987, as were the "Barrow Bandits" to the Taylor/Fairbairn axis in 1981. Neither reached the end of their respective season. It just doesn't work. However, if the former Lakeside promotion are going to hire the Rye House facilities to run speedway this and (more importantly) next year it can only be a good thing, provided they don't try to create a "Rye House Hammers" feel for their new show. They'll soon find the the thirty miles from old to new homes are a long, long road.
  14. Somerset have virtually offered Lynn every Monday and Wednesday available (even getting Leicester to go to OTA last night, to free up yet another date) but the people at KL - and it isn't necessarily Buster who's being their idiot - have been totally ridiculous to deal with. The Rebels have finally demanded that the Management Committee step in, and set the date. Somerset totally innocent here, the KL camp totally stupid.
  15. Currently Sept 16, having been extended a week from 9th. But watch this space, if results don't fall into place for those and such as those.....
  16. Scott Nicholls also stayed back to watch the junior mini-match, and present the NJL trophy to the title-winning KLS Academy kids. I was told tonight that Bandits' final away match at Edinburgh won't be until Sept 14. So we have a while to wait for what happens next.
  17. A rider must make three starts. Having missed out Heat 3, Jye Etherjdge had to go in his other programmed rides. Likewise, Dany Gapp had to have his third ride. It is the fact that, when both reserves are going so well (and you don't fall six behind) it isn't at all easy to engineer that they take sevens starts each!
  18. They are both riding at Ipswich. Love those fixed race nights!
