  1. This fixture, already looking competitive, has now been spiced by Charles Wright lifting the British Championship. Berwick's usual line-up is Summers, Etheridge, Doolan, Gappmaier, Busk Jakobsen, Garcia & Flint. Redcar will be bringing Riss, Andersen, Palm Toft, Stewart, Wright, Woolley & Greaves -- racing order unconfirmed. Both sides at full strength -- Redcar with their new British champ, plus a new No 1, Erik Riss, who is a double World (long-track) Champion. Bandits remain unbeaten at home in Championship action for over a year, but the recently-revised Bears could be their stiffest test so far this season. If Charles Wright brings the same form he displayed at Belle Vue, Shielfield spectators are in for a treat. Plus, with another tasty wee treat of the NJL mini-match following the main event, Saturday's spectators will be able to enjoy 21 meaningful races for their money. Tell the town -- the new British Champion is coming to Berwick on Saturday night!
  2. The rule is actually 'if the race is stopped the referee shall exclude the culprit' - there's no 'first bend doesn' t count' caveat. So if referees are allowed to regularly ignore that rule by ordering 'all four back' re-runs after a bingle on the first turn, they can theoretically do so at any stage, on any lap. Which would lead to all sorts of stuff, l fear. Last night, the rider 'who was the cause of the stoppage' was maybe 25% Stevie Worrall, 75% Paul Starke. Never Charles Wright.
  3. Not at all, she's an Ayrshire girl with a Govan constiuency. Will clearly be in the red-and-white brigade!
  4. Not far away. Probably depends on how Willie, Jye, Connor and Coty match up. A point might just happen.
  5. I don't think Mr Dickson came up the Clyde on a banana boat! Pavlova won't have been added to Leicester's 1-7 yet, and Josh Bates will be in the programmes over the weekend (with r/r in operation).
  6. The point about not announcing the result of an afternoon meeting is noted, and, should the unusual circumstance recur, it won't happen. Although it was a bit like talking about a soccer match, which people might want to watch on Match of the Day. Where do you draw a line?
  7. As the same letter estimated Belle Vue's 1970s attendances at 40,000, the writer might not be totally accurate in his estimations. That said, Glasgow have markedly improved their attendances under the Facenna regime.
  8. Listed with the caveat 'if fit' - Aaron has been stood down as Glasgow's guest at Brough on Sunday (replaced by Sam Masters)..
  9. As a gesture to fans who might be drawn to the SON stuff on Saturday afternoon TV, first race on Saturday will be at 7.30 - - leaving any reasonably local folk good time to arrive after the final races in Russia........
  10. Interesting line up for Wednesday at Leicester -- Ricky Wells at #2!
  11. You'd think they might do better, with averages of 6.42 and 5.91 respectively! Club asset Coty Garcia is currently on 5.20 -- having (as Screm has gently pointed out above) increased his starting average. Bandits are above the 40 points, any changes would require to be like-for-like. After Saturday's win, these words were spoken in the Black & Gold: "Dany's maximum will hopefully shut the moaners up for a wee while, but all that'll mean is they'll start turning on Coty instead". Didn't take too long, eh?
  12. You were very welcome, and we hope you enjoyed the trip. As Screm has said, air-horns are not allowed under planning regulations, and if their absence consolidates that permission, then that's that. Aren't they a bit passe nowadays, anyway? Stewart Dickson's post-match analysis was very fair, and made no excuses. All in all, apart from the dreadful Heat 10 crash, a really good night out, I thought.
  13. An apology on the BSF? Are you sure you're on the correct forum? Most times, when a poster makes a wee error on here they say nowt and disappear for a week. Well done!
  14. Spud will be replaced by Kyle Howarth on Wednesday (and by Ricky Wells tonight at Peterboro).
  15. Jeez, do we have to grade passing as bona fide now? Topsoil gave other examples, and there was plenty going on to make it a good show. As for the complaint about Dany's max being 'gate and go' - - how did Doug Wyer, Wayne Brown, Adrian Rymel or Seb Alden score their many maximums?
  16. PL was massively staffed with Australians and New Zealanders, who wouldn't have needed visas in these days.
