If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it........

Why is all this guff about league structures being discussed on the Newcastle thread, at a time the very future of the Diamonds is in real doubt, and the concentration of minds and offered opinions should be about the club's survival?

British average reduction
crescent girl replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Meaning that Chris Harris and Craig Cook -- to say nothing of Nick Morris and Cameron Heeps -- get the reduction, too. Which isn't a bad thing if most, nearly all, British riders will get a reduction and the Scandanavians won't. -
Poole Pirates 2021
crescent girl replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You're dead right, mate. In the 'eighties, the Fearman regime had ground the (big league) club into the ground, the track was awful and entertainment nil. They folded, in came Stewkesbury & Ansell with their National League (as was) competition, racing was close and going to Wimborne Road became a pleasure, not a chore. And the Pirates are still sailing! -
Try Sheffield then, mate.

Leicester are a Saturday track. Ergo.........

Poole v Swindon. Prem. 19/8/19
crescent girl replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In that case, he didn't. -
He has also been wild-carded into the 2020 World Long Track series, which would make CL racing a bit difficult, tho Theo Pijper managed it a couple of years back.
-
Thomas has the advantage of the lower CMA, but might have more long-track, etc, commitments than Nikolaj. Either (or both) would be fine, they fitted in well with the Bandits "family". But Poole might be wanting to upset the applecart.

Was Anders Rowe ready? Was Leon Flint ready? If they're good enough, they're old enough.- 147 replies

Championship League Team Points Limit
crescent girl replied to DC2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Dead right! If you want your speedway to continue at your local track, year on year, set the limit lower, keep the promotion's losses down and let the sport be there for you and your friends. -
Berwick, Sheffield and Kent.
crescent girl replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As Kent have confirmed they will be applying to join the Championship, and Berwick have confirmed "business as usual" and announced two signings, time to put this one to bed, eh? Good old CVS! -
So much for CVS, and all those telling silly "I heard" tales.... business as usual!

While it was good to see the north-east providing both KO Cupsters (and a close contest) last night, there has to be a bit of "what might have been" for Bandit-folk -- that cup-tie with the Diamonds was just about the only real low-light of the Berwick season.

Poole Pirates 2021
crescent girl replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You think? For years the 'southern tours' were the highlight of the year for Northern fans....... You should try it, you know - there IS life north of the M4! -
Don't you mean that YOU want to see? It is better to have a happy team, riding to a constructive budget than pandering to the demands of 'fans' who have no real connection to the real world?

Berwick Academy among the trophies in tonight's NJL Riders Championship at Armadale. Luke Harrison won the 125cc title, while Harry McGurk and the fast-improving Mason Watson crowded the 500cc podium as second and third to winner George Rothery, from the Workington area.

Bears v Diamond's KOCF
crescent girl replied to johnyson66's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
While I bow to your expertise in civil engineering, the actual reason Berwick can't have covers down on a "soccer Saturday" is because the football authorities insisted they be lifted along the straights in case players caught their studs in them if they ran off the field of play.
