  1. Duns opening session, intended for this weekend (22nd) has also had to be cancelled.
  2. As this could be the only speedway meeting in the UK for months,! I'd certainlysuggest as many fans as possible get to Scunny tomorrow..
  3. Quite clear that it isn't regionalised (All seven clubs will field their own four-man team, who will race their opponents over six heats on a one-home, one-away basis after Premiership matches between the respective sides.) but as the Premiership isn't exactly a nationwide competition like the Championship, the travel isn't too big a burden. Six home meetings can be accomodated in the warmer, lighter summer nights when spectators are happier to stay on to watch the juniors. As long as the promoters all take it seriously, use their own junior riders and encourage spectarors to stay and watch, it can succeed. All it needs to be a success is for one gilt-edged UK prospect to emerge from this mini-league every year, and that's job done.
  4. OK, this thread is about unattached British talent. Is there any?
  5. Wow! Becker is likely to set this league on fire. He has had many, many offers to 'come across' from the Premiership, and it looks (no pun intended!) as if Garry & The Hancocks -- sounds like a 'sixties pop group -- have a hit on their hands!
  6. Press'n'practice on March 28th. Should be a greater-than-usual turn-out of interested folk to watch the guys exploring the wide open spaces...
  7. Don't complain, there are people who pay good money to get onto that kind of site
  8. Not as far as Bailey, Watson or Douglas for the same meeting....
  9. Perhaps a better parallel would be the highly-successful National League, which operated independently of the BSPA offices, had its own management committee and shared events, and created a healthy, profitable league structure between around 1983 and 1990? This was still within the SCB/ACU framework, and riders had free movement.
  10. So no Peterborough riders available for BenFund Bonanza. Shameful.
  11. Correct. And let's be honest, it is Seth being in Europe that's the reason for Jason coming back. We have to thank Ipswich for making this financially viable for him
  12. As they have done since 2010. Hopefully they will be left alone to continue for another ten years, too!
  13. Absolutely spot-on, Philip. Your fine magazine carried a mention over the winter that Seth would be campaigning in Europe this summer, and this is a neat way of getting Ipswich to pay for their trip, plus a bit more.
  14. I don't think Nathan will even turn out to be the Devils' No 1, let alone the League! Good signing, tho..
  15. Kent are indeed offering something special, called Championship speedway, which their public haven't seen previously. As for it being higher-priced that elsewhere, l'd gently point out the location in the wealthy bottom-right corner of the island. Local income, and personal wealth will be considerably greater than in and around (say) Newcastle, Redcar or Berwick. Thus, pro-rata, their pricing is maybe about the right level. Discuss?
  16. That's very true, but depends on team structure, too. If your team is top-heavy, a reserve who comes good will quickly be at #2 (or worse, #4) and you'll lose that seven-ride bonus....
  17. George, I've warned you before about talking sense on here.
  18. The U21 and U19 meetings have in recent years mostly been on Tuesday nights, haven't they? Not helpful in the scheme of things to run on a Friday.
