  1. Biggest crowd l've ever seen at Leicester! Makes the case why play-off are here to stay...
  2. Why not start a petition to have Russia withdraw from Ukraine? You'd have as much hope of success, but at least an ethical reason for organising it.....
  3. It would certainly be a disgrace. Russians should be nowhere near international sport
  4. The onus for ensuring a rider is eligible to guest surely rests with the club engaging him. The referee gets a list of each team's line-up three days prior to a meeting, and checks to ensure their averages are correct, not if they are cup-tied, which is hardly his business. If an ineligible rider somehow gets tracked (as with Drew Kemp at Scunny) it'll always be realised at some point, before, during or after the match, and -- if it really matters -- his points deducted and the result amended. In this case, the points from his three races only marginally change the scoreline, Scunny still win on the night and on aggregate. Riders' averages aren't affected by a play-off meeting and we can all settle down. Bad move by Scunny not to check on his eligibility tho. Might have cost them dearly!
  5. For what its worth, referee (Mick Bates) signed Ben Cook out of the meeting with "head injury, concussion" which carries the regulation nine-day lay-off. The referee also reported that a re-examination/re-assessment was required at the end of that period, prior to Ben being allowed to resume racing activity.
  6. And Oxford's guests on Wednesday are Dan Gilkes (for Jenkins) and Jody Scott (for Roynon)
  7. Slightly selective quoting there -- Sam also scored paid nine from three finishes last night in the third division, plus a heavy fall while well-placed.
  8. But a big #1 and a strong reserve mean a weaker boiler house.....
  9. I just love how so many people on here "hear" things. Where do they hear them? And why do they never name the source of what they overhear?
  10. Regardless of the riders (who were mainly nominated by their NDL clubs, not Berwick) having not all contested all the other rounds, the NDLRC is being run as a series. The rider with the most points after the final round will be the champion. However, Berwick have created a focus for the evening by running the "Starza" in parallel, meaning that their will be a winner, and a podium, on the night.
  11. On opening this thread, I hinted that Jake Mulford might start favourite -- he can pull out big races in meetings like this (I recall Jake being a surprising, but deserved runner-up to Leon Flint for the 2022 U-19 title) -- but there are others in the field ready and more than able to prove me wrong. One thought: While we know the winner will be crowned the latest and worthy Stars of Tomorrow winner -- the list of winners goes back 54 years, begod -- is this the final round of the NDLRC series, or are there more to come? Has anyone published the current pecking order?
  12. William was indeed invited, and had provisionally accepted. However, he has now been called upon to represent GB in a 250cc event the same day, and cannot compete. This detail has also been posted on the club website, to keep everyone advised and informed.
  13. Preview and details of final Berwick meeting (Starza/NDLRC on Sept 7th) now in the "Individuals & Shared Events" portion of this Forum
  14. Tasty field lining up for the 2024 Shielfield finale, with meeting sponsorship by bulder Terry Straughan (himself a former "Starza" competitor) Each NDL member-blub has nominated two representatives: Connor Coles & Dayle Wood from Edinburgh, Oxford's Jody Scott & Senna Summers, plus Ace & Stene Pijper from Scuntfield. Freddy Hodder will represent Belle Vue alongside Matt Marson, Jake Mulford (the favourite?) is coming from Middlesbrough in company with Will Hocaniuk with Leicester's Luke Crang and Aaron Butcher completing the nominated riders. Berwick will issue four wild-card invitations to complete the field. Twenty heats to decide the winner. Admission pegged to £12 early-bird e-tickets (from https://www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets/) available until midnight on September 6th or £14 on raceday. Cash only at turnstiles. Accompanied kids under 16 free. Limited heat sponsorship is still available for £100, from https://www.club@berwickspeedway.com Large free on-site car-park
  15. Should the weather allow, two Bandits in action at Worky on Saturday. Jye guests in place of Vissing (yes, he's missing) and Drew seems to be Plymouth's go-to man at #1 instead of Covatti all weekend.
  16. They have. The influx of GP riders has increased Premiership clubs' costs alarmingly.
  17. We're not quite done for 2024 just yet! The 𝙅𝙚𝙬𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙆𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙬𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙨 season has come to an end, but we we are delighted announce we will be hosting one more meeting at Shielfield Park in 2024! On Saturday, September 7th (7pm) Berwick will play host to 16 of the country’s hottest talents in the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗡𝗗𝗟𝗥𝗖 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 - 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄! Early bird tickets will be on sale shortly for £12 and we are on the lookout for heat sponsorship priced at £100.00! Get in touch now!
  18. Hasn't stopped Bartosz from winning the odd race......
  19. Not quite. Still got the meeting on Sept 7th to come. But yes, last home match for the Jewson Banditos tonight.
  20. There is a pecking order, where seniority rules that clubs with the longest race-night tenure are more or less guaranteed their home fixtures can run unaffected. Thus, Berwick host Workington next weekend on their regular Saturday, the Comets having to move to Sunday for the return. Poole have seniority over Oxford on Wednesdays. On Fridays, Edinburgh have clear seniority, and need not move to any back-up night. Of the others, I think Scunthorpe would be next -- only yielding to the Monarchs -- while Redcar and Glasgow are fairly recent additions to Friday racing -- the Bears being forced there after losing their long-held Thursdays to the other league while Tigers chose Friday after a long run on Sundays, and a brief flirtation with Saturday. Should the Championship choose to race two-home, two away in a future season, the senior sides -- Berwick, Edinburgh and Poole -- would carry on unaffected, some of the others might lost continuity by having to hop about and have blank nights when the team are required elsewhere.
