  1. When will folk on here understand that Ty Proctor is injured, was replaced because of the damage to his neck? If he cant race for Berwick, why do they think he can race for their clubs?
  2. The league champions arrive at Shielfield on Saturday to challenge the league leaders. Jason Edwards has been in sparkling form of late, and will test the top-end Bullets to the full. James Shanes is off long-tracking, but the Bog Moggies have obtained a special dispensation to use Danny Phillips as a guest. GHT Bullets: 1 Kyle Bickley (capt), 2 Mason Watson, 3 Ace Pijper, 4 Greg Blair, 5 Luke Crang, 6 Kieran Douglas, 7 Ben Rathbone Manchett's Fen Tigers: 1 Jason Edwards (capt), 2 Sam Bebee, 3 Jack Kingston, 4 Alex Spooner, 5 Danny Phillips (guest), 6 Josh Warren, 7 Luke Muff. All Adults/Concessions/OAP £10, Accompanied juniors (12-15) £3, Accompanied children (under 12) £1 To encourage purchase of tickets online, the promotion are offering FREE ENTRY to all under-16s accompanying an adult who has bought their ticket online. Online tickets are the club's recommended way to enjoy speedway at Shielfield Park. It's quick and easy, you get your money straight back in the event of a cancellation and the administration is much less of a burden on an already hard-working and committed volunteer staff. Book at www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets The cash turnstiles will be open as usual, but any children entering at that point will require to be paid for. Weekend weather forecast looks promising, so another sunny Saturday looks likely -- bring it on!

  4. Aaron, who is at Berwick every week, retired last season with the club's blessing. Had there been a long-term injury to one of their higher-average riders, he might well have come back as an injury replacement (as he has done for Oxford) but the gaps Berwick had to fill are at reserve, his average is over 6. Money wouldn't have changed his average!
  5. Matey, I think Ian might just have taken you to the cleaners every bit as much, and much-more cleverly, than any rider! But I agree, any newbie owner HAS to employ an experienced speedway person to run his club.
  6. The last few pages have woken a few folk up! As I see it, to introduce Jonas Knudsen for the injured Ty Proctor, there had to be two changes. Bandits were over 42.5 in total points this month. Kyle Bickley was just the unlucky domino. Kyle has indeed suffered a sad lack of form at CL level recently, and a rest from CL pressures -- while still at Berwick, skippering the NDL-leading Bullets -- will hopefully recharge his confidence, bringing him back as the rider who just weeks ago was sailing past Craig Cook!. Both Greg Blair and Luke Crang are in their 'thirties, and both have already raced for the Bandits in the current campaign, taking the odd ride in matches they were #8. Nathan Stoneman has raced twice at Shielfield this season, beating Bickley, Blair, Crang and Watson in the process. Given the need to bring in a lower average to balance the new line-up, and the connection with Oxford, his signing makes reasonable sense. I agree that, of the current Bullets, I see Ace Pijper and Mason Watson as the improving youngsters who might be available for bigger things in the future -- but with Leon Flint as a shining example, to brand running an NDL squad as a "waste of time" is absolute nonsense. If you can produce one rider, maybe every two years, from NDL racing to progress up the sport for you, then the job's a winner.
  7. Apologies. Didnt realise they did it every week. Still over half the league don't stream, however.....
  8. Luke Killeen has got his UK passport (at last) and is making a Chargers' debut on Tuesday.
  9. Except Glagow, Berwick, Birmingham, Oxford, Newcastle and Poole.......?
  10. I think the TeamGB people are looking a bit higher than that. Brennan, yes. But the previous two Tests at Ashfield have had world class riders in the teams like Tai, Chris Holder, Magic, Lambert, Zmarzlik, Bewley, etc...... Don't think Danyon or Connor are quite up there yet. Still unsure of a starting time, I suspect.......
  11. In the Test v Poland last autumn, Bomber was our match-winner!
  12. Didnt Glasgow Tigers have a couple of meetings at Hampden Park with two Templetons, two McMillans and two Beatons (plus Charlie Monk) in their team? However, the match you really want is Barrow (two Owens, two Sheldricks) against Berwick (two Templetons) on June 25th, 1974. But no twins, l agree You're welcome.
  13. It's Scunthope's part of the world that had Bell End Speedway.........
  14. Second leg of a match that could swing either way. Redcar hold a 12-point lead after the first leg. Bandits have Jye Etheridge back at last, but with Chris Harris in Hungary for the SGP Challenge eliminator bring in track record holder (for the old circuit) Craig Cook to fill the gap. Leon Flint will captain the home side, having previously spun the coin against Birmingham in 2019. Ty Proctor is still ruled out on doctor's orders, with Oxford's red-headed Australian Josh McDonald an interesting replacement. FTS Bandits: 1 Craig Cook (guest), 2 Theo Pijper, 3 Jye Etheridge, 4 Ricky Wells, 5 Leon Flint (capt), 6 Josh McDonald (guest), 7 Kyle Bickley Agilia Bears: 1 Charles Wright (capt), 2 Adam Roynon, 3 Erik Riss, 4 Kasper Andersen, 5 Lewis Kerr, 6 Jason Edwards, 7 Jordan Jenkins The main even will be followed by another Northern Junior League mini-match, with Berwick's Academy facing the West Lothian Wildcats, meaning patrons will be getting 21 races for their standard entry fee, Academy: 1 Ace Pijper, 2 Callum Foy, 3 Stene Pijper, 4 Caydin Martin Wildcats: 1 Josh McPherson, 2 Dean Douglas, 3 Rocco Webb, 4 Lewis Hague Following the success enjoyed by the "Kids Go Free" deal for customers who book their tickets online, the special deal will be continued this week. Adults £17, Concession/OAP/Students £13, accompanied Juniors (12-15) £5 -- free if booked online -- Under 12 £1 -- free if booked online. Online bookings from: https://www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets
  15. Interesting sidebar here, in that all the moaners who claim they were left standing outside the turnstiles when a match has been called off earlier would have no worries if they had -- as more and more folk are doing, for so many things as well as speedway -- booked online. It really is the way to go in 2022.......
  16. Watching youngsters trying so hard that they sometimes slide off is better than seeing the guys who tail off at the back and just ride around, or pull up. I'd never fault a lad who falls off trying......
  17. This wee match refreshed the spirits, with falls, silencers falling off and some close finishes! Just like speedway should be at Third Division level. But through it all, the bright future of talented teenagers shone through, giving us hope for a brighter, younger British future. IMO.
  18. A little bit of extra promotion, folks! Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris will be handing out goodie bags to the first 50 children accompanied by an adult via a pre-booked ticket at tomorrow night's double header at Shielfield Park. Chris will also sign autographs and be available for a selfie Saturday 4th June, 2022 Kids go free online! Tapes up at 6:30pm! Book your tickets here: https://www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets/

  20. I am told that Luke Killeen will (at last) receive his passport next week -- does that mean he will now be able to resume his declared position in the Chargers' line-up?
  21. Rule 04.1/1 instructs that scarves or neckerchiefs must not trail so as to be a possible source of danger. While not mentioning hair, it is reasonable to assume a referee might consider trailing hair to fall into the same category. Grey area?
  22. Magic! You post this link, which leads to a page headed (in big red capital letters) "These Are Not The Official Green Sheet Averages" and use it to back up your claim about Berwick's Green Sheet averages!
