  1. Another thirty-race extravaganza at Shielfield this Saturday. Both Bandits and Edinburgh will track teams affected by the Euro-pairs round at Macon in France. Charles Wright (in fine form for Redcar last week) steps in for Chris Harris, while Monarchs are in no way weakened by Complin and Andersen replacing their two Euro-hopefuls. Tapes-up at 6.30, and with the annual circus in town, part of the (free) Shielfield car-park will be unavailable, so prompt arrival will mean not missing any of the action. Admission (30 heat double-header) Adults £24, Concessions/OAP/Students £20, Accompanied Juniors (12-15 years) £6 (free if booked online) Accompanied Children (Under 12) £1 (free if booked online). FTS Bandits: 1 Charles Wright (guest), 2 Theo Pijper, 3 Jye Etheridge, 4 Ricky Wells, 5 Leon Flint (captain), 6 Jonas Knudsen, 7 Nathan Stoneman WTF Monarchs: 1 Sam Masters (captain), 2 Lee Complin (guest), 3 Kye Thomson, 4 Kasper Andersen (guest), 5 Josh Pickering, 6 Jacob Hook, 7 James Sarjeant (NDL teams for second match detailed in separate thread)
  2. Correct. Huge -- really huge -- difference in operating costs. NDL will be fine for a couple of year, build up a nest-egg of funding, pay off start-up bills
  3. I'm not sure about Jye riding? The team has been re-jigged and declared this morning with Spud at #5 for Reggie, and r/r at #3 for Leon. Bomber, Jonas and Theo all took heavy knocks last night, but are ready to race. In addition to the knocks and bruises -- only Nathan Stoneman wasn't involved in a heavy crash at Ashfield -- there are several badly-damaged bikes to be straightened and repaired before 7pm. No rest for the wicked! Onward and upward!
  4. If the alternative is the' Glasgow Tigers Song' played at Ashfield -- be thankful for Neil D!
  5. Will that victory be Berwick's first four-pointer since...... Maybe Scunny in something like 2016? Happy days!
  6. That's correct. Jonas Knudsen was booked last night, and made arrangements to travel to Ipswich, only to learn this morning that the booking had been knocked back.
  7. Yes. Flies out of Manchester very early Saturday morning.
  8. They should be. Not aggregate scoring.
  9. Once again, the FTS Bandits lose a rider to international duty, with Leon Flint called up by Team GB to contest U-19 Euro Pairs (with Oxford's Sam Hagon) in Latvia on Saturday. However, the squad welcome back former captain Aaron 'Spud' Summers to take Leon's place for what is a very important cup-tie against the Bears, who have snapped up former Bandit Kyle Bickley following the closure of Newcastle. Kyle remains at Berwick as a Bullet, captaining the NDL squad, and will doubtless be anxious to prove the Bandits wrong for letting him move on. Following the main event, there will be another NJL mini-match, this week between Berwick's Academy youngsters and Tees=side Tigers. FTS Bandits: 1 Chris Harris (capt), 2 Theo Pijper, 3 Jye Etheridge, 4 Ricky Wells, 5 Aaron Summers (guest), 6 Jonas Knudsen, 7 Nathan Stoneman Bears: 1 Charles Wright, 2 Jason Edwards, 3 Erik Riss, 4 Kasper Andersen, 5 Lewis Kerr, 6 Kyle Bickley, 7 Jordan Jenkins Academy: 1 Ace Pijper, 2 Owen Booth, 3 Stene Pijper, 4 Liam Morris Tigers: 1 Edward Davidson, 2 Laylen Richardson, 3 Dan McTeer, 4 Rocco Webb To encourage their preferred policy of pre-payment, the club will continue their "Kids Go Free" deal for customers who their tickets online. Adults £17, Concession/OAP/Students £13, accompanied Juniors (12-15) £5 -- free if booked online. Accompanied Children (Under 12) £1 -- free if booked online. Online bookings from: https://www.berwickspeedway.com/tickets
  10. Has there ever previously been a British Final with two Bandits in the line-up?
  11. However, the club (same league) still has to 'release' the rider for a guest booking. There might be an unseen factor, such as the rider using bikes provided by, and belonging to, his home promotion. In that case, he might not be allowed to use the equipment (for sensible reasons) to protect it from overuse.
  12. If a club wants to book a guest, they go through the subject rider's own club to book him. Obviously, they may have checked with the rider beforehand to ascertain his availability, but the booking is with the parent club.
  13. Kemp's performances at Armadale were very mixed, from maximum to very, very poor. Friday's result hangs on which Drew Kemp turns up.
  14. But........ Were the visiting fans singing the song?
  15. Leicester can maintain continuity by hosting Cubs' matches on blank Saturdays. Same is true for Berwick, Edinburgh, Oxford and Plymouth. No need to worry about short season for tracks with NDL teams.
