  1. Both Dayle and Jordy will be riding for Edinburgh Academy at Belle Vue next Sunday. Tom Spencer is the only other CL rider who would fit, but he'll be at Kent with Birmingham's NDT team. So, if Max isn't fit, Tigers would probably need to look to an NDL chap to fill in, l think? September averages apply, of course....
  2. Penultimate meeting of a frustrating season at Shielfield. Bandits now have a four-pronged attack of really solid power, but just too late in the year. Never mind, a Saturday night at the skids is still a worthwhile outing, not least with the "Comics" in town. They bring former Bandits Jye Etheridge and Jacob Hook with them, but not Fraser Bowes (in Poland) who will be covered by Kye Thomson. Usual deals, usual e-ticket availability on website and (of course) a large free car-park. BERWICK: 1 Nick Morris, 2 Sam Hagon, 3 Jonas Jeppesen, 4 Drew Kemp (captain), 5 Peter Kildemand, 6 Dayle Wood, 7 Jack Smith WORKINGTON: 1 Troy Batchelor (captain), 2 Antti Vuolas, 3 Tate Zischke, 4 Jye Etheridge, 5 Kye Thomson (guest), 6 Jacob Hook, 7 Vinnie Foord
  3. Sadly, fines no longer accrue to the SRBF. They are swallowed up by the SCB. Does anyone know how much the Cash Penalties demanded in this instance are?
  4. Because in many cases, emails sent to the BSPL should have really been addressed to the SCB. Often these concern rules, rather than promotion. So they are forwarded there, and replied to by the SCB.
  5. Well, that's not true. What do you reckon Mr Vatcher's role is within the BSPL?
  6. No, the promoters didn't! Had to pay their four top-earning riders for three away legs on the proceeds of one home meeting. The meetings were popular in the 'seventies, when costs were much, much lower. To try and run such meetings now would be a financial disaster. Be cheaper to hire Bartosz for a meeting.
  7. Those two deducted points are going to cause a fuss it comes down to it.........
  8. BSPL are clearly doing what they are expected to do -- promoting, 'acting in the best interests of the sport' by posting the fight as entertainment Referee reported both riders to SCB, who will doubtless take action in due course, penalising the riders for 'bringing the sport into disrepute' Two separate organisations
  9. There are no "assets" any more. Riders are contracted to a club -- but when the contract ends, they are free agents.
  10. That can be for a number of reasons. H&S might do spot-checks, but it could be the rental is based on attendance levels
  11. So the SCB publicly name and shame referee, detailing his punishment, but any action taken against Poole staff goes unannounced? Surely not......
  12. Thankfully, the rolling averages mean that one bad score out of twenty has very little effect on a rider's average.
  13. Who did you ask? SCB don't administer league points, that'd have been a BSPL decision, l'd think.
  14. To an extent, they never have. Did Johnnie Hoskins' teams win all the time? Not at all, but they always pulled in big crowds, intent on enjoying the whole entertainment package. Where speedway has gone awry is preventing clubs from putting on extra fun'n'games (partly to do with H&S) -- and riders unwilling to participate in them
  15. Regardless of who was winning or losing the deciding race, to allow anyone at all to stand inside the exclusion zone while a race continued is inexplicable. As there has been considerable photographic evidence of this (and, l presume, video coverage) the SCB will have to take action. Not regarding the end result, but because of the blatant disregard of the H&S aspect. Heads must roll.
  16. Absolutely not! Regardless of the calendar, and prevailing weather, tracks are NOT expected to be dusty! As one who attends several tracks fairly regularly, I can say with some certainty there are those where dust can be practically guaranteed, and others where it is never, ever, a problem. Dust at speedway is a result of inadequate preparation, not from any great expectations.
  17. Jye won the Premiership title for Sheffield in 2023 with his points at Owlerton (Heats 12 & 14) in the final.
  18. As he won the league for them (Heats 12 & 14) in 2023, he surely deserves the gig!
  19. Some interesting 'whatever/maybes' in this discussion.......... What I'd chip in is, contrary to world opinion, Cami Brown proved a good manager on Saturday and deployed his limited resources very well. He had two heat-leaders, two young reserves and two woefully ineffective guests, but juggled them well.
