  1. John Anderson said on the Berwick website: " We have decreased admission prices - and next year I can reveal that the admission prices will be just £12 for adults, £10 for concessions and kids will be absolutely FREE when accompanied by a supervising adult”.
  2. Its folk like you that make Alex Salmond's job just so easy!
  3. Have you been to Argentina? Or just seen videos?
  4. The further north you travel, the harder it is to recruit an NL rider. Remember that Stoke and Buxton are each about 300 miles from the Scottish tracks.
  5. I admire Sheffield's mission statement in signing affordable riders, who will excite and improve (Koppe, for one) and guarantee the club's survival. We've seen Glasgow and Edinburgh going right up the the wall after putting together title-winning sides. Let's be honest, who (apart from half a dozen on here) cares about away match results? Win at home, put on a show and the average spectator will keep coming. You have a superb statium and a promotion who have been in place for years, keeping the ship stable. Be careful what you wish for
  6. Not so. It may turn you off, and others on here, but for "ordinary" spectarors who go to Owlerton just to enjoy watching four guys racing round, a bit of continuity is no bad thing. Too many club's ring changes for changes' sake and give little or no chance for spectators to find heroes. In the "good old days" riders were allowed to stay with their club and become legends.
  7. So it'll be Sam Masters. Averages tightening up now. Who's left?
  8. A big no from me to regionalisation other than the "wee diddy cups". The good thing about speedway is being national, with international riders. Promoters should really make more of this.
  9. If you mean Steve Lawson (the Greatest Living Tiger) then you're very wrong. Steve was sold to Belle Vue in 1977. He then joined Glasgow from the Aces in the spring of 1978. The rest, as they say, is history.
  10. This is constructive stuff. The schools visits were already happening, but other suggestions are there for consideration, and it is refreshing to read a post like this instead of attacks on the promotion. Any more good ideas, people? The ball's now rolling.
  11. Berwick have made it clear (had you wanted to listen) that Albin will pay his own fares, and base himself in the Berwick area.. Also, what makes you think Alden, Aspegren and Edberg don't pay their own fares in and out each week? Your ill-will towards Edberg, apparently wishing injury upon him, is also disappointing, to say the least. On a different note, it will become clear this month if Bellego is a Berwick or Glasgow asset. The decision will presuambly affect thinking on his future.
  12. Not far away. Kozza Smith for either Bellego or Aspgren and I'd agree with you.
  13. As you've been asked before, please go away and leave people to discuss the future of Edinburgh.
  14. Ok fine, two pages on modifying speedway in general. About which there are loads of threads. Now let's get back to Berwick's survival. At the dance tonight, it couldn't have been emphasised harder that the Bandits need a major sponsor to survive, despite the promotion being so well thought of in the corridors of power that they allocate the BenFund and World Finals to the club. So how can we (all) help?
  15. Serious times. Newcastle and Edinburgh (both stable clubs, considered to be well-run) admitting losses. Workington and Glasgow changing ownership. Berwick, despite being well-respected by FIM/BSPA,etc need a big sponsor to keep going. Hopefully, some more Bandits news at dance on Friday night?
  16. Take away the rain-offs and it would have been well finished by now. 2012 was a freak year for weather. 2013 and beyond must be better!
  17. Check out the club website! Something's happening -- more news tomorrow night. Hopefully..........
  18. This is so impoortant. The club has admitted they have a problem We need our speedway Let's make nothing but positive, constructive posts on here until the fix has been effected. As the notices say: "No time-wasters, please!"
  19. I think the FIM are holding this together pretty well. There were always to be two local wild cards (like Newman and Perry were at Coventry). Four Poles withdraw -- two with what could be termed questionable injuries. FIM invite two further locals and include Dakota Morth and the Czech lad -- who are willing to further their experience As someone said earlier -- these are World championships. The days of holding everything in one country and just using riders racing in that country at the time went out with Tommy Price in 1949. Speedway is going global. If riders don't like that, don't enter for World championships. End of.
