  1. Sorry, George, Dick very much in evidence last night, sharing presentation duties with Steve Hayward. He'll be there to welcome your Tigers on Saturday, I'm sure.
  2. From what has been said, it isn't the rider's fault, nor Edinburgh's. It appears a rule was introduced bythe UK government, and not picked up by speedway (or probably a whole lot of other employers we don't know, or care, about). The application -- by Somerset? -- for his visa/permit was lodged after the change. According to our government's new rules, they cannot now apply again for twelve months! Bring on the SNP, and we'll get rid of London's inept bureaucracy!
  3. I think anyone who was at the Berwick visit which was abandoned last summer knows very well that Comets' fans disgraced themselves that evening.
  4. Less than 48 hours before the Bandits are out on the track! I wonder if a couple of the promotion's sternest critics on here (we know who they are) will be coming to the after-practice Q+A session, and putting their questions to the club officials face-to-face? They might get more respect if they did.
  5. Some really sensible posting going on here. Here's to a great (and dry) season, all over the north!
  6. Voice in box last night was the new addition to the presentation team. Which was listed in programme in full. Was reliably told Dick was in conversation last night after meeting with the new Glasgow presenter!
  7. Delighted Kozza is back this year. He'll get some welcome tonight! Seb who?
  8. Impressive. People are trying to help the club, offering help and providing information, and this comes along. Get to f.
  9. . But sometimes politics can't be avoided!
  10. Now there's a thought! Have any of the clubs hiring and naming first-time assets from outwith the Common Market actually got their work permits through yet?
  11. History is made by those who turn up. In twenty years, no-one will remember who didn't ride - only that these four guys did, and qualified to the GP Qualifiers. The result will surely give Batchelor's career a huge lift, and also showcase Dakota North to UK clubs still dithering over who to sign.
  12. Yet again, he has patriality. Two different things. Do keep up!
  13. A number of riders are without a team, usually for good reasons. Sheffield have a budget, and a Germany-based rider with regular commitment to Poland and the expanding European Championships would hardly help keep costs down to the required level.
  14. If Glasgow had dumped Jayden O'Malley at the first opportunity it would have been very damaging (for all clubs) in view of future work permit applications for young, untried riders. As others have said on other threads, the case could yet cause problems in future.
  15. John Anderson said on the Berwick website: " We have decreased admission prices - and next year I can reveal that the admission prices will be just £12 for adults, £10 for concessions and kids will be absolutely FREE when accompanied by a supervising adult”.
  16. Its folk like you that make Alex Salmond's job just so easy!
  17. Have you been to Argentina? Or just seen videos?
  18. The further north you travel, the harder it is to recruit an NL rider. Remember that Stoke and Buxton are each about 300 miles from the Scottish tracks.
  19. I admire Sheffield's mission statement in signing affordable riders, who will excite and improve (Koppe, for one) and guarantee the club's survival. We've seen Glasgow and Edinburgh going right up the the wall after putting together title-winning sides. Let's be honest, who (apart from half a dozen on here) cares about away match results? Win at home, put on a show and the average spectator will keep coming. You have a superb statium and a promotion who have been in place for years, keeping the ship stable. Be careful what you wish for
  20. Not so. It may turn you off, and others on here, but for "ordinary" spectarors who go to Owlerton just to enjoy watching four guys racing round, a bit of continuity is no bad thing. Too many club's ring changes for changes' sake and give little or no chance for spectators to find heroes. In the "good old days" riders were allowed to stay with their club and become legends.
