  3. Porsing insists Panthers is not a backward step Nicklas Porsing riding as a guest for Panthers last season. Major signing Nicklas Porsing insists he has not taken a step backwards by joining Panthers. The Danish talent is gearing up for his first season at Premier League level after joining the city outfit on loan from top-flight parent club King’s Lynn. His capture on a 6.58 average is seen as a coup as a Panthers team packed full of potential bid to better their surge to the semi-finals of the play-offs last season. Porsing said: “I think it will be a very good move for me. I like the Peterborough track after riding it a couple of times last season as a guest. “I don’t feel that racing in the Premier League is a step down and I wouldn’t have decided to do it if that was the case. “I see it as a challenge to score a lot of points, to learn new tracks and to continue to develop as a rider. “My target is to improve my average and show the fans I am a racer. “I believe I can do that at Peterborough as it is a fast track with lots of lines. It is one I’m happy to have as my home. “I had a lot of offers from clubs in the Premier League, but this is the only one I was ever going to consider. “I’m looking forward to riding for a good club, with a great track and with so many other Danes.” Porsing is one of five Danish riders in the city team for 2016, joining captain Ulrich Ostergaard, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, Michael Palm Toft and Emil Grondal. Brits Simon Lambert and Tom Perry complete the septet. A third British rider will act as the club’s number eight after being added to the squad today. Holbeach-based Tom Stokes, who is well-known to joint team boss Dale Allitt, will occupy that role after impressing. Stokes (21), whose father John was a Panthers rider back in the 1980s, raced for Allitt at National League level in the past two seasons. Allitt said: “Tom is a rider with huge determination and a big heart, who wants to progress. “He commanded the number one spot in the Young Stars last season despite still only being 21. “Being involved in a Premier League set-up is next step for him and it will also give us options in the future.” The start of the new season is drawing closer with Ostergaard’s ‘10 Year Spectacular’ testimonial event taking place at the East of England Showground on Sunday, March 13 (2pm). Before then the club stage their Press and Practice event at Alwalton on Friday, March 11. 4. Great Dane Hans will make Ulrich’s big day so special Hans Nielsen. 15:58Thursday 18 February 2016 0 Peterborough captain Ulrich Ostergaard’s ‘10 Year Spectacular’ will be staged in front of his hero. Danish great Hans Nielsen - widely regarded as one of the finest riders ever to grace the sport - will fly in for the testimonial at the East of England Showground on Sunday, March 13 (2pm) which launches the new speedway season in the city. But Nielsen, who starred in 22 world title successes during his glittering career in the 1980s and 1990s, won’t just be an interested spectator - he is also planning to take to the Alwalton track for a few laps. Ostergaard said: “It is amazing to have Hans here as part of my meeting and I’m so proud that he was prepared to come over to England for it. “Hans is someone I have looked up to ever since I first started to watch speedway as a kid. “It was a huge honour for me to ride in my hero’s last meeting in 1999 and also to race in the same team as Hans in the Danish Superleague once that year. “It will be so great to have him here for my special day.” Nielsen, now 56, won three world individual crowns in the space of four years during the 1980s when it was staged in a single-meeting format. He also became the first man to win it in the current GP format in 1995. He enjoyed an extensive club-racing career in England with Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Oxford and Coventry and his presence could certainly boost the turnout for Ostergaard’s testimonial. The Panthers captain has assembled a stellar cast to compete in an individual meeting with a host of support races also planned. Ostergaard has persuaded a total of three of his fellow Elite League title-winners with Panthers in 2006 to line up. Hans Andersen, Niels Kristian Iversen and Piotr Swiderski all feature in a 16-man field along with Kenneth Bjerre, Mads Korneliussen, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Danny King and Kenneth Hansen. The line-up is completed by Ostergaard himself and five of his Panthers team-mates for 2016 - Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, Nicklas Porsing, Michael Palm Toft, Simon Lambert and Emil Grondal. The remaining Panthers rider this season, British reserve Tom Perry, will feature in races against club asset Danny Phillips and a trio of young Danish talents - Jesper Sorgaard, Tobias Thomsen and Peter Karger. Ostergaard added: “I could not be happier with such a great list of riders who are prepared to race for me. “I’m so pleased to have been able to put together a meeting featuring my current team-mates, many guys I’ve ridden with in the past and some great friends I’ve made during my career. “I just hope all the Panthers fans are looking forward to it as much as I am because it is going to be a brilliant way to start the season.”
  5. Once again Ged comes up trumps !!! !! Well done!
  6. I was suprised to read in the Speedway Star that Simon Labert wont be riding for Kings Lynn this season now.. Due the fact that he would miss 8 meetings for the Panthers due to clashes and didn't want to upset his Panthers Sponsors...!!
  7. Let's be honest no great shakes is it? You could buy a row of houses up there for about 20 bob!
  8. is he not free to chase the dollar and sign for whoever he wants - if its the highest bidder then so what? A riders career in some cases is very short....
  9. dont forget that he won the PL Pairs in 2007 with Chris Holder!! What a couple of legends!!
  10. yeah rather have Porsing than Kenneth Bjerre or PK to be honest...
  11. SPEEDWAY FIXTURES: Panthers start with an Easter extravaganza Panthers start with a home fixture against Ipswich on Easter Monday. MM,Peterborough Panthers face an explosive start to their bid for glory in 2016. The city team’s first competitive fixture of the new season will see them entertain East Anglian rivals Ipswich in an Easter Monday derby clash at the East of England Showground. It is likely to be the first in a series of tasty League Cup clashes with Panthers also facing Sheffield, their play-off quarter-final victims last season, and Scunthorpe in the Midland Group. Only the top team advance to the semi-finals. Panthers begin their Premier League campaign with a visit to Rye House on Saturday, April 16 while Somerset provide the first home league opposition eight days later on Sunday, April 24. Joint team boss Carl Johnson said: “I don’t think we could possibly have a bigger first meeting than an Easter Monday derby. “It is essential we hit the ground running as failing to make it out of our group in the League Cup was a big disappointment last season. “It looks like a very tough group with Sheffield and Scunthorpe having put strong sides together, but we need to show everyone what we’re about from the word ‘go’ and ensure we already have momentum by the time the league fixtures start in April.” Panthers will face either Workington or Somerset in the quarter-finals of the KO Cup during the summer.
