  1. No I can't see Joe Screen coming back as a rider to be honest. I think the first 4 are pretty much nailed on Stead, Roynon (obviously), Lanham and Compton. Charlieboy says an Aussie who didn't ride last year is in the team as well; any ideas?
  2. Look up the accounts of the parent company Classtrend Limited and see what value you would put on it as things stand, however you'd need to understand how much of the revenue is taken out by Neil Machin as 'salary' for himself to get a true assessment of whether it's a profitable business. My sense is that it is, although to what extent is debatable. However you then need to add the cost of an air-fence and probable re-negotiation of stadium lease, speedway licence, etc,. etc.. so I'm really not sure how much it's worth. Anyhow, all that aside let's wish Neil all the best and thank him (and the late Tim Lucking) for saving the club from oblivion 20+ years ago.
  3. I don't believe the 8-day guest rule applies if it's your Number 1 rider. I may be wrong - who knows what the rules are on this or another day? To the point of this topic, I would certainly have taken a point at the start of the night. That has got to be one of the weakest teams we've ever put out on track, with all due respect to the riders concerned. Andre certainly got his mojo and Ricky was superb out of the gate and when put under pressure. Maassen will get better with more track time, to which end I'm surprised he wasn't practising after the meeting. I have to say I thought Heeps was worth more than his 3 points - very spectacular and fast but just seemed to get himself in the wrong place out of the starts.
  4. Best wishes to both riders, but from a Sheffield perspective special thanks to Rob Branford for his commitment. Hope to see him again some time.
  5. It was great to see Andre riding round the boards like the old days and I also noticed he was on a shiny new bike after Heat 8 onwards. Would be good to see him back next year from the start of the season. I agree with what other people have said about Facundo Albin; he's a very good rider and puts himself into good overtaking positions but he just doesn't seem to have enough 'oomph' in his engine to make the passes stick. Put him on a fast bike and I reckon he'd be a 6-7 point rider pretty much everywhere. Credit to Ricky Wells for a great race as well, coming from the back and passing both Glasgow riders in a safe and smooth style. The talent is clearly there.
  6. I thought Richard was based nearer to Sheffield these days which might be a consideration for next year. It's early days yet though, we don't even know which teams / leagues will be running. Agree with earlier comments - his partnership with Adam is formidable now they've clearly got over that little misunderstanding a few weeks ago.
  7. Woodward looked like a class act last night, but I wouldn't be upset if it was Lewis Bridger and I think a spell on a big fast track might help him (and Team GB) for the future. I'm also sad to see the end of Richard Hall at Sheffield because when he was 'on it', there was no finer sight in speedway. Still, missing Rye House was perhaps the final straw for many people.
  8. Good grief. How many injuries?? Best wishes to Simon for a full recovery (and a speedy one if at all possible)
  9. It would have to be one of Compton or Roynon (not sure what their averages are to be honest) and I'd be very happy with either.
  10. Koppe rode like a man on a mission and all credit to him. I can't honestly say that he looks fluent yet round Owlerton, but no doubting his total commitment last night. Having said that, this team still needs to be strengthened so I'm not getting carried away with one good result.
  11. The sun is shining, it's lovely and warm with absolutely no chance of rain. Therefore, there are no excuses not to get yourselves to Owlerton tonight for a feast of speedway. Could be a close one.
