Kings Lynn Stars V Belle Vue Aces 31/3
woodenspoon replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What a bunch of whingers and moaners some of you Kings Lynn fans are. Prior to last season Belle Vue had eight years of being at the bottom end of the Elite League. As success and failure come around in cycles, perhaps it is now Belle Vue's turn to have a bit of success, a lot of fans stayed loyal to belle Vue during the bad years, so come on you King Lynn fans it isn't the end of the world just because you loose your opening home meeting. -
The Cinema car park exits onto Kirkmanshulme Lane, about 200 yards from the New Stadium. I doubt very much that they will allow it to fill up with the speedway crowd, without expecting any payment. I think it will be chaos at the opening meeting, with cars jamming Kirkmanshulme Lane, and even if you have a parking spot in the stadium you will still have to get to it. Like has been said better to get someone to drop you off near the stadium and walk the rest.
-
From what I see on the plans, there are separate turnstiles for the Main Stand, and the standing South Terracing, will this mean that there will be no access to the Main Stand Concourse for the back straight terrace fans. Will they have to wait until after the meeting ? I can see this as being a real three tier stadium, Corporate, Better off, and standing fans, which we will have to get used to.

As far as I am aware, the prices do not include a programme, unless you have a season ticket where the package includes a programme. Another point raised is parking, and no there is no parking included in the admission price, all the parking spaces at the stadium have to be bought, and I doubt there will be any left for many of the fans. It is not yet clear on where people will be able to park, it has been suggested that the Cinema car park could be used, but nothing official has been said. No doubt it will be expensive, I can see a situation whereby men in high-vis jackets will be roaming about asking for money to park, like you get at Old Trafford. I do detect the little green idol of envy from some of the Poole fans on here. As has been said, it is your choice what you pay, at least the stadium will not be one sided viewing like some.

Belle Vue's treble in 1970-71-72 was in a league of 19 teams, 18 in 1972, also in those leagues were Poole, Wembley, and Wimbledon. (Wembley missing in 1972) so that must have been the toughest period in which to win the title. It is all a matter of opinion as to which team was the greatest, you can only beat the opposition around at the time.

I agree with Gemini, I have watches all the different Leagues, and there are good meetings in all. The Elite league is dying, it would make no difference if more of the so called top riders rode in it, there is no variety of competition, just 14 home meetings a season, and if you are lucky a couple more play-off meetings. If you do not look like making the play-offs your meaningful season can be over by May. All one can hope for is that someone, anyone, can stop bloody Poole winning the title again.

Two easy wins for Cradley, Belle Vue's team has three reasonable heat leaders, but the rest of the team is weak. No home advantage to make up for it either, both sides new to the track. Cradley always bring a good crowd, so a good opening fixture in the National League.

The Curious Case Of The Invisible Chairman.

If it will be run as fairly as the Fast Track Reserves was, and still is, (I do not think) It will not stand much of a chance from the off, apart from Poole with all their assets. As has been said speedway is actually run by Matt Ford and his stooge Cook, and all the other promoters just nod their heads in agreement. -
I think a lot of you are overrating Belle Vue's team for this year. Most of that team was picked because they were good around the old track. We only just scraped into the play-offs last year. We have a brand new track, which with little or no home advantage, particularly at the beginning of the season. Also we do not have the best reserves, who usually decide most Elite League matches. They will do well to get into the top four this year.

It appears to me, that some posters on this forum cannot wait for Belle Vues new stadium to fail, I dread to think how many of them are queuing up to have a go after the first meeting. This stadium will be a REALLITY not the fiction of some of the other clubs dreams for their future.
-
Some teams are finding it hard enough to find just one No1 this year, so where the hell are they going to find two to share the same position. I just do not see riders clambering to set up over here for just part of a season, and you can guarantee that they will want a kings ransom if they do come. Seems to me it will only suit say Poole.

El Season Tickets 2016
woodenspoon replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Surely not a good way for Belle Vue management to sell their season tickets, at least you would have thought that they would have said what they envisaged the extra meetings to be. As these prices were announced before the AGM did the think that the KO Cup was returning, but got vetoed by the other clubs at the AGM.? -

Don't forget the Parking Permits @ Eastern £120, Southern £90 Not clear on how many actual stadium parking places available. Talk of using the Cinema parking over the road, but is security going to be a problem ? Street parking questionable in that area. -
So that Poole can have Newman on his nice low Premier average, instead of his true Elite average which would have put him a lot higher in the 1st pick, therefore giving them a poorer pick for the 2nd rider. Already decided between themselves and Lakeside, don't forget one of the main men responsible for the FTR lists is at Lakeside, and they work hand in glove.
-
A fairer system would be that if you claim your asset rider, and it has to be in the first pick, the 2nd pick is decided on league position with the bottom team going first. The current system does not help the bottom club, as I thought that was what original intention was.

Noticed on the Belle Vue Army site that Zagar will not be riding in the UK 2016. Nothing as yet from the Official site. Anyone with any further info ?

Poole Vs The Aces For The Title
woodenspoon replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It was against Reading, Peter Ravn was the rider in question, and you are correct it was because his name was not printed in the programme. Reading waited until the meeting was over, BV had hammered them, and put in the protest, which the Ref upheld. After this incident we stopped going to speedway for several years. -

I do not know why some of you are getting your knickers in a twist, over the goggles issue. It should have been up to the start marshal to point this out to the ref, and how the ref did not spot what was going on from his lofty perch is baffling. I do think that even if BV got the two points, it will make little difference to the overall final result. It looks like Poole look after their FTR riders with equipment, Nielsen on the other hand has been on slow equipment all season. I expect the FTR scores to be the same at Poole. I still think it cannot be right when so many Elite meetings are decided by your "novice" riders, the FTR system is in serious need of an overhaul, or scrap it altogether. -

Here we are on the verge of having a two times "BRITISH" World Speedway Champion, when all some of you can do is whinge about him apparently not standing to attention or singing along to the National Anthem. Some of you are really pathetic. Our National Anthem is so outdated, both in sentiment and content, we really need to get up to date, and produce a new one, though I daresay the Politically Correct brigade would take it over, which would probably be worse. -
Aces Last Stand - Monmore Green 31/8
woodenspoon replied to T.N.T.'s topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Belle Vue's chances of getting in the Play-Offs are now in their own hands, a win or a draw will do, no matter what Kings Lynn do in their last home meeting, better still if KL lose to Swindon in that meeting. Despite Wolves having a poor season their riders still know the best lines around their home track, particularly out of turn two, so I think it will be close, but it is up to Belle Vue now, please don't let us down away from home like you so often do. -

I was under the impression that Scott had signed a two year deal with Belle Vue earlier this year, but this is speedway. -

Thanks for clearing that up. To an extent I agree that not lending riders to your nearest Play-Off competitors is right, it is still a bit of a joke with speedway that you can win matches with a team full of Guest ringers. I may have missed it, but I do not recollect anything officially in print from Belle Vue saying they will not loan riders. I would imagine with Coventry assured of a Play-Off place that BV would in this case not object, especially with you lending us Chris. Looks like BV will need a guest on Monday from a report on the official site re Zagar's injuries. -

Very harsh opinion that. I would think that Matej is feeling very second hand today, when all his aches and pains that will be far more noticeable the day after, added to the fact that he will not get much time for any treatment or physio prior to coming back to the UK. Does the rule re Guests not apply to your No1, as Chris only rode for us last Monday ? Not that I am complaining as he always tries and is entertaining around Belle Vue. -

Typical Speedway, Dither, Dither, Dither, does nobody have the gumption to make a decision.
