At Belle Vue, some of the fans jackets came out with the Ark, I doubt they will ever buy the modern ones. The problem is getting a jacket or shirt that you can wear other than at speedway, as some of them are far too gaudy, also that shiny material does not look good on someone with more that a trim figure. The design of the Belle Vue badges, is very boring, jus the club logo, gone are the days of John Jones, when you got a good variety of designs over the years, and please Belle Vue get rid of the badges with stud fittings. As I see it there will not be a new badge coming out for 2021, except for the year bar, I hope I am wrong, as being a saddo, I have collected speedway badges for several years.

I too noticed the age group of most of the fans in the main stand, nothing against them as I am an oldie too. What an opportunity considering the amount of Funeral Planning advertising there is these days, to get some sponsorship for speedway, a ready and nearly there audience.

The Chieftain Stand was I believe knocked down in 1991, as it had an asbestos roof and Health & Safety deemed it unsafe. The stadium then looked quite smart then, not like the tip it became. Stock cars wrecked the back straight, as they used it to park the cars.

If as the government have proposed, that they may bring in, that all over 70s must self isolate, which could be possibly for months, will definitely affect speedway crowds, that is if speedway is on. I wonder how they will impose this self isolation, and what will happen to the many elderly who don't agree to this isolation, which is draconian.

Ronnie Russell's George Medal sold today for £50,000. BBC news.

Palin ,Bickley and Bailey a good top three ,but a very long tail, will be a battle all year for the reserve spots.

This is all getting very childish and tedious, time for the mods to lock this thread.

If we have signed riders, why don't the club just release the news, as with other clubs signing riders, and usually keeping riders from the previous season, you get left with a smaller and smaller list of riders that are possibly available for BV. If rumours are true, it looks like BV and Peterborough are going to have a long season, with little reward. If they did sign Zagar, that would be the me missing a season, cannot stand the rider, one of our worst No1s and probably the most expensive.

You are right coldace', heat 15 can often make the difference between winning a meeting or getting the away bonus point. I do not see any team getting near Swindon's top two pairing, with a combined average of 17.78.

If as rumoured we loose Fricke and possibly Bjerre, we are going to have a problem getting an out and out No1, to replace Fricke. With batch now resigned for Swindon the most likely rider that they will release would be R. Jensen, who had a big difference between his home average and his away average. That leaves B, Kurtz, J Holder, and N Klindt, none of whom are No 1s. so that looks like we will be going with strength in depth. Unless we can tempt a big hitter from abroad, which would take up all the TV money, or we find a big sponsor.

Great news for Sheffield and British speedway, a rider who love him or loath him will put bums on seats. Ay idea what average he will come back as. ?

From a Belle Vue fans point of view, welcome back as a local rival. I can remember many great meetings between us when we were last in the same league. It also could sort out our bank Holiday fixtures, and should bring a lot of fans to our meetings against each other. We could even re-introduce the Northern Trophy meeting at the start of the season in 2020, as a great warm up to the start of the season.
-
I like acef cannot drum up any enthusiasm for this meeting, it will be touch & go whether I go tonight. Nothing to do with it being the KO Cup. Perhaps it is because the management made poor team building decisions at the beginning and during the season and did not make changes when it became obvious they were needed. If miracles do happen then Belle Vue are going to need one to win this trophy over two legs.
-
This Final should have been done and dusted mid season, I would have thought that Swindon would not have wanted this meeting just before the Play-Offs. Belle Vue will need a lead of more than 10 points lead, which I do not see them getting. No tacks helps them at home, but I fear the worse at Swindon, where this year we have been poor. Easy aggregate win on current form for Swindon.

Belle Vue v King's Lynn 26/08/19
woodenspoon replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I do not understand what some of the BV fans are whinging about. BV needed to stop KL getting anything out of this meeting, which we did. As far as I am concerned Job Done. Lastword is the only one to get it right. Apart from all the delays I quite enjoyed us stuffing someone up for a change. -
Belle Vue v Ipswich 03/06/19

I would prefer it if the BT TV cameras were never at Belle Vue, it would then mean that you had to attend in person to see some of the best speedway in the UK. Surely getting in at TV meetings for a Tenner would be even bigger losses for the promotion, as it appears that speedway gets very little out of the BT deal. Does anyone know the exact amount per TV showing ? -
Wolves v Belle Vue 27th May 19
woodenspoon replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well stevebrum, I got this result spectacularly wrong with my forecast of a good Wolves win. I think most Belle Vue fans thought that Wolves would have their revenge for the earlier in the day defeat. I must admit to thinking that Wolverhampton would not get beaten at home this year, as usually they are so strong at home. -
Glad a neutral brought the screeching from Haley up. Us poor home fans have to put up with the screaming banshee, every meeting. It adds nothing to the enjoyment of the racing.

Is there any news regarding the field for the Peter Craven meeting, as it isn't that long to go now, and it heralds the start of Belle Vues 2019 season. Who would you like to see get an invite, and why ?.
-
Mentioning facilities, is there any news as to when the proposed permanent toilets will be installed at the South Stand. The stadium is great , just a pity it isn't fully finished off.
-
If that is the rumoured team, it is relying heavily on Lidsey being assessed at 4.00. The other question I would have is that if this is plan "a" team, do we have a backup plan if for example that Dan Bewley is not fit at the start of the season. We do not want a repeat of the Steve Worrall situation of last season, where we had constant guests & R/R.
-
If Kenneth can repeat his form of 2017, he had a home average of 10.17, & an away average of 8.00, we will have a very strong top two. I would like to see us get Jack Holder as he has potential to improve his average, and was exciting to watch at the NSS last year. Just think what a treat we have when Cookie and Rohan return for the opposition at the NSS, both busting a gut to prove the management wrong.
-
The team needed changing, we had become the nearly team, not quite good enough. management sometimes have to for various reasons make choices, and I will fully support the team that they select for 2019. Belle Vue could be accused of being too loyal to riders, when changes were needed.
-
I would like to see teams that move up to the Premier league getting a bit more help in securing competitive teams, this could mean say letting them build to 2.50 points over the limit for the other teams, which would mean as they struggle to get the top heat leaders, at least they could have more solid teams throughout the 1-7. Look what has happened this year, Doyle becomes available, immediately snapped up by Swindon, who then release Morris, who then is snapped up by Wolverhampton, these riders should go to the newcomers, but finances come into it, and unfortunately the better riders never get to the new teams. It has been rumoured that Cook at belle Vue could be available, as apparently he wanted too much to ride this year and Belle Vue told him if he found a team willing to pay that much he could go. His only outlet would be Peterborough or Ipswich and I do not see them willing to pay.

I cannot see how this arrangement will work. Surely Buster will not allow the two stand in promoters to have a free reign as to what rider contracts they offer, and they will be working to a strict budget set by Buster.
