Witches V Panthers 15-5-14 ( Pl ) 7-30pm
Super Blue replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A more convincing performance from the Witches tonight . No doubt now that all will be rosy in the garden again as far as the promotion is concerned . However , the truth of the matter is that the Panthers didn't really turn up with the exception of Bjerre . Blackbird scored in every ride but managed to take down two of his team mates (Fisher and Bjerre) at various points . They really missed Ostergaard and ultimately we only had a 5 man team to beat again . ( hope Dryml and Bjerre are OK btw ) One real plus for me tonight was the return of some form and confidence for Cam , hope this really kick starts his season ! Great to see some of his passing manoevers . Richie W , he really really needs to stop jumping the starts , although he may get away with a few it could end up costing us at times . I've seen at least 3 exclusions recently . Gino , another excellent nights work completed , just hope he can start repeating his home scores away . Morten , shocking 1st ride then looked unbeatable , that's Morten all over . Rohan , for me he still remains unconvincing but I'm sure will come good ( well hopefully ) . Adam and Ritchie H , both did precisely what was required of a reserve pairing . Now the real test comes to see if anything has changed , two away meetings at Edinburgh and Berwick in the next 2 days . The possibility of a league point of any kind looks pretty slim to me but maybe just maybe the team might have a tad more belief after this win . Forever hopeful . -

Thats very optimistic of you Baldy ! The man who said with 3 heats to go against Newcastle we would win that one by 12 ! Yes there are some deluded ones about , then there's realists like me ! We couldn't beat a 5 man Newcastle team last week and have already been humbled twice by the Panthers in one day last month so although I remain hopeful I'm certainly not that optimistic about a speedy massive turnaround in form for the Witches ! -

Depends on who you believe but the one I use says up to 17'c gen fine with the odd chance of a shower during the day . -
So what do we think is going to happen with this one then? With a full Witches team I believe it will be alot closer meeting than Good Friday with hopefully a considerable amount of more fight and determination on show! Personally I believe we are still lacking confidence and speed ( gating and on track ) so my opinion is that the end result will be very tight, could go either way! I just hope the racing is good with a track that gives options for passing if required. Title modified (bloody predictive text)! Mind you, it was going to be Witches V Pants with the original predictive text .

And when we did make a change one year wasn't it Lanham in Doolan out ? And wow , how much did that strengthen the team ! -

Where do we start then , hmmm ! I suppose a genuine well done to Newcastle should be first on the agenda for overcoming the adversity of losing Chris Schramm so early , get well soon ! Racing was actually much better today with quite a few lines and passes , blue line took a lot longer to appear and credit where its due on track prep . Alas , that's where alot of the positives about the afternoon end . Richie W , a poor days work I'm afraid after demolition of the tapes in ht 1 , not looking very quick at all today . Gino , a good days work scoring nicely above his average , could end up as a one track rider though . ( Foxhall ) Morten , well done today , excellent points return and good performance . Cam , oh dear ! One good race but poor gating and low confidence really affecting his scoring for the team . Rohan , decent scoring till being screwed over by the ref big time ! Did what's expected of a heat leader . Tom Perry , as expected till his fall when in a point scoring position . really hope he's OK BTW ! Ritchie H , decent first few rides but seemed to run out of steam towards the end of his 7 outings . That's my quick review of today's team but how much do we miss Adam at the moment ? I decided to go to the alleged fans forum afterwards , not so much a forum as a quick chat from Kevin Long with Chris Louis and the riders about the meeting . Was hoping to ask a question or two about what's going wrong and what's being done to put things right , didn't happen ! Definitely not my or my dictionary's definition of a forum . If CL is as good as his word when I spoke to him afterwards we should all need to have questions and/or concerns ready for the next one ! So overall a pretty poor show today , generally unconvincing and pretty disappointing to only get a draw against a 5 man team , any school report would say , Must do better ! Well that's my rant over , what does everyone else think about the recent pitiful performances ??? -

Now knowing about the fans forum afterwards with potentially awkward questions being asked it's bound to be a slightly better performance today. ( I may just stay behind to see what's being said, mind you if we win everything will all be rosy again won't it? )! Huh hmm. I know I always bang on about the track conditions being awful and whilst I appreciate that there's never going to be a big dirt line due to stock cars removing it on a weekly basis I can't believe the riders actually like riding on it as it is at the moment! Surely they must prefer to have passing options available to them if they don't make the gate? Chris Louis was definitely a racer who knew where to be for overtaking purposes and needs to have a bigger input with Bob on track prep. We shall see just have to wait and see what this sunny afternoon brings us, hoping for a decent crowd and even better racing, not holding my breath on the latter though! -

Problem is that more water on no material on the track ain't going to make a sh1ts worth of difference, the racing will still be shocking! It will be gate and go and that's not something we've been great at yet this season. -

I'm seriously debating whether it's actually worth going tomorrow, the team must be mega down confidence wise and the track is pretty much guaranteed to be awful, personally I don't recall the last time I saw a decent track for an afternoon meeting ( perhaps I have a short memory but that's how it seems to me!) I'm afraid I can see not much occurring apart from another Good Friday repeat. -

Did somebody say earlier that this one might be close ? Having a laugh springs to mind ! Half the Witches team have got something badly wrong at the moment and need to sort it out pronto or the season will be almost over before it's hardly begun ! -

I think I must have been at a different meeting to everyone else on here. Although it was good to recover from the Easter weekend shockers I still thought we looked very unconvincing last night. The only proper passes I recall were Cam to avoid a 1-5 against and Rohan in ht 15. All the others were down to riding errors. We would also have been in serious danger of dropping points had half of the Scunthorpe even remotely turned up. I think we are very likely to struggle against the Monarchs next week unless we up our game big time! -

Think I spoke too soon about things looking positive this season , the Easter weekend has certainly put my previous optimism firmly to bed . Being brought down to earth with a bang springs to mind ! Chris Louis has been quoted as being extremely disappointed with the weekend and will be working hard with the team to put things right ( when he's not away with Sky that is ) ! He may want to start with addressing the god awful track that we currently have a Foxhall , the facilities keep getting better and the track progressively worse . There's no dirt on it and as a member of the paying public I want to see proper racing and plenty of passing . That's just not possible at the moment ! A fair chunk of the team needs to do some hard work and seriously take a look at themselves to renew my faith in them . I doubt that after Good Fridays performance we will be seeing many of that very good sized crowd returning . Such a shame when a bank holiday showcase meeting is so poor . Well the Premier league starts on Thursday for us and a good sizable win being essential to restore some of the teams confidence ! Here's hoping . -
Peterborough V Ipswich Lc 18/04/2014 7.30pm
Super Blue replied to spencebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well I think the Witches marginally gave a better account of themselves ( very marginally ) and we're in with a slim chance of nabbing a point . Only two awesome starts being punished in the last heat by a clearly blind ref finally removed any hope ! ( tungue firmly in cheek ) I certainly have to admit that the track at the show ground is 10 times that of Foxhall and will always produce much better racing . A thoroughly deserved home victory on the night . -
Rye House V Ipswich 20 April League Cup
Super Blue replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It seemed to me that the Witches were totally unprepared and unfocused in their abysmal efforts against Peterborough so will seriously need to buck up their ideas and quickly if they are to gain anything out of this ! Prior to ( not so ) Good Friday I would have been full if optimism at getting a decent result but now half expecting another battering . looking at the team I expect a decent return from Richie W , Gino should find Dry House more to his liking , Morten is what he is , hopefully Cam can kick on after winning his first race of the season , Rohan should do ok here , Adam was sorely missed and Ritchie H ought to be good for a few pts . Would probably have gone to this but wifey has had other plans on this day for months . Will be keeping a a hopeful but non expectant eye on the scores from afar if the weather holds out .
